Chapter 823: A Failed Ritual
The ritual did not begin.
Nothing happened.
It didn't start, nor did it continue, nor did it end.
No matter how much the Black Circle members disguised as Enclave warriors tried, nothing happened.
They had an abundance of bodies.
Blood soaked the snow in every direction. Corpses lay scattered across the battlefield. Some were buried beneath the snow, while others remained exposed, their lifeless eyes staring toward the sky.
Yet still, nothing happened.
It was as though something had blocked their connection to the bodies.
That should not have been possible.
The bodies had been the first phase.
They had planned to use them to enhance their powers, making themselves stronger to the point that nothing could touch them. Then they would use every body they found as a sacrifice to get what they wanted.
That had been the plan.
And it should have worked.
There were enough corpses here to fuel the ritual several times over.
But there was nothing.
