Chapter 9 - A Stranger

'Hee-mang" he repeated slowly over and over again in a silent manner.

"Same name." he said with a sigh.

He looked at the mirror for the umpteenth time, and all he could see was a stranger looking back at him with a sad and confused look.

'How did I even end up here? It's me, Hee-mang, but yet, I feel strange. I still remember all of my memories from before I jumped down the bridge. I still remember the pain I felt from being turned down by Yoo-na Unnie. I still remember how her friends made fun of me. I still remember the look on that old man's face. I still remember what I looked like. I remember the scars, the different colour's of my eyes that either made people frightened of me or hateful of me. I remember, vividly, the feeling of being abandoned over and over again.' he pauses for a few seconds, then proceeds to touch the face he could see in the mirror.

'But this face, I don't know. This body, feels unfamiliar. This place, appears strange. And yet, I have this feeling that I do know this place. That I grew up her, and as though the life I used to know was nothing but a dream. Which is real?'

Hanbit announced his arrival and came in without waiting for a response.

"Young Master, a hot bath has been prepared for you."

A tour, was it? Yes, a tour around town. And yet, they were yet to leave the family's estate.

"Hanbit," he called out with a hint of anger "how long do I have to keep on walking before we get to town?"

Hanbit nearly turned back to look at his young master with furrowed eyebrows, but he controlled his anger in time.

'Who am I to get angry at master's new behaviors towards me. It's all my fault. If I had been there to protect master, he wouldn't have lost faith in me. But no, that day just had to be the day that I decided to leave town. Why won't he assume that I am involved in his death's attempt?' he thought inwardly to himself.

"My apologies master. It was wrong of me to assume you would like to walk around the estate before proceeding to town in a carriage. I will have a carriage prepared for you right now." he bowed and excused himself.

Hee-mang folded his hands at his back as he watched Hanbit walk off hurriedly.

"He seems a bit disrespectful to his so-called young master. We're they rivals of love or what?"

No sooner had he said this that he continued his walk, looking around, appreciating the solitude of the place.

Hanbit looked back, before losing sight of his young master.

"Ha, master. Have you lost your trust in me that you no longer desire my company while you appreciate nature. All I hope is that you do not discard of me, but give me a chance master, to gain your trust, again."
