"So you are gods? You are tired and going to slumber? Does everyone meet you alone like this? What does it even have to do with anything? Where is everyone?"
Jack didn't care that he was talking like this to gods. To him they where just small clouds of mist, maybe he was actually still just in his bed, dreaming all this.
The mist chuckled and spoke.
"We were just about to go into slumber and disappear from this plane, when your voice disturbed us. It seems you died, yet didn't, when we began our final work. Your soul disconnected but didn't reach its destination. And in that time, you missed the translocation and explanation that all the other sentient lifeforms across the universe went through and received."
The mist suddenly changed form into a human-mist and sat down on the road and leaned its mist-back on the crosswalks light-pole.
"Sit down Jack, and listen."
Jack felt he had no choice. He sat down and began to listen to the god-mist.
"As I already said. There is nothing more for us gods to experience that we haven't experienced a trillion times over. We will go into slumber. But not before giving you sentient lifeforms an exile. I will keep it short as you aren't even supposed to know any of this. We have decided to show you a special send-off and explanation as you, you being here, certainly is the last surprise we will ever encounter."
"Ahem.."
The mist settled its mist-back better against the iron-pole before continuing.
"As we go into slumber, we want to give every sentient being the opportunity to meet. Thus we gathered all the existing planets together to form one super-planet. Planet Prime. Its so gigant-normous that you could never traverse it on foot in a billion human lifetimes. The suns has been combined to the exact number that allows Planet Prime to have a 24-hour cycle. Moons to make tides and gravity altered to match the earth. Biome and vegetation to suit any life-forms needs "
Another mist voice began to speak up from the surrounding crowd. "Enough with the background, get to the point."
"Yeah, yeah I am getting to it now". The laid-back mist continued.
"My fellow gods are getting restless, so I will cut to the point. Every life-form, including your fellow humans. Has already been sent off to Prime. There they have gained our last godly image; the Lord System. The last godly thing when we are all in slumber. There are no sentient natives on Prime. Only animals, monsters and wild beasts beyond your current understanding. And to survive and eventually thrive on Prime. That Lord System will help you evolve."
Another mist spoke up. "You are blabbering again! Keep the topics short! Lord System. Current Situation. Compensation. Transfer!"
"Sigh…" The laid-back mist nodded.
"So, the Lord System. It's a godly system that allows you to build a domain. Create a civilization, kingdom, empire, whatever path you want to make. You will be able to summon villagers, warriors; or troops as they have already been named by your fellow sentient beings. You can gather building designs, troop portals and more when you follow the Lord System."
"Next is the current situation. You were obviously supposed to transfer with everyone else. Yet you didn't. Surprise. So currently one week has already passed on Prime, and no starter-ability or prepared starter-spot is left on Prime."
The mist stood up and motioned for Jack to do the same.
"Obviously you are far behind the progression of everyone else. As part of your compensation we will tell you that the number 1 Ranked Lord, currently has more than 2000 population in his territory. Has hold of a few resource-spawns and a uncommon troop spawn. Which is the highest anyone has, or will have in a long time."
The mist began to pace back and forth, even the other mists had small waves of unease.
"Which leads me to the compensation. As the last thing we gods will ever do before our slumber, we are prepared to be somewhat generous. However. The ultimate gains rests entirely on you."
Jack watched as the mist stopped walking and made a hologram in the air depicting a giant planet.
"Is that Prime?" Was all that Jack could ask, as his brain tried to fathom the distances as the hologram continuously zoomed into one of the many vast continents.
"Yes." Was all the mist answered as the god continued zooming in until it stood still, showing a large peninsula enclosed in steep impassable mountains.
The peninsula was connected by mountains to the mainland, roughly 100km in length. There seemed to be two passages through the mountains. One leading over the snowing mountain top, and one leading through a narrow 20km long path with steep rocky sides.
Jack traced the peninsulas edge. All mountainous, steep, rocky and dangerous. It seemed the peninsula was naturally completely protected from the outside world, besides the two passages leading to the mainland. Except one part in the northern part of the peninsulas edge. The mountains became smaller until they evened out into the grassland and down to an idyllic sandy beach. The beach area seemed to be no more than 5km long before the mountains became high and impassable again.
Tracing the peninsula further. The peninsula in total looked no longer than roughly 500km long from the mainland. Expanding at least 200km in width after the 100km connection to the mainland. At the middle of the peninsula there could even be 300km or even close to 400km in width.
Small rivers flowed from various points in the mountains, forming a large river from the mountains in the mainland part, to the middle of the peninsula where a large lake was formed that had two other rivers flowing from it. One ending at the beach and ocean, and the other, calmer one, ended in a smaller lake close to the peninsulas edge in the west.
In the west, where the peninsulas deadly mountain edge met, the largest, most dense and eerie looking mountain eclipsed all the rest. The width of the tip of the peninsula in this area could be no more than 50km.
"I hope you got a good look. Because this in where you will begin your new life. And having had a bird-eye view is already substantially more than any other being has had so far."
The god continued.
"As I stated before. There is no beginner-ability or prepared starting spot left. This peninsula is far away from any other gatherings of human lords. So growth via the Lord Systems warfare is limited. However, this finally leads to the compensation. In Prime there are resources that will spawn every now and again. Ranged from tiny to huge in deposit size. But in this dark mountain to the west, is the one and only infinite resource spot on Prime. And this is our compensation to you."
Jack didn't have a clue about anything at all yet. Besides what the mist told him, and it sounded like a child's fantasy..
"However, we have agreed to give you something else as well, as no starter-ability is left and you, unwillingly, gave us our last surprise. Other than the power of armies, the world is ruled by magic. And we will give you the 'Matter control' ability. It is an ability in the mythical tier, that is otherwise only accessible to us gods. Hence, many parts of it will be locked. You can unlock its full potential if you survive. Become strong and wealthy enough."
Jack didn't have words. His old body and past life just made him listen without ambition.
The mist just smiled. If there is such a thing as a smiling mist. But to Jack, he felt like the god was smiling.
"Well, off you go then." The mists disappeared one by one. And in the end, so did Jack.
