Chapter 84 - Heartfelt Conversation

When Michelle got out of the vent and stood properly, she saw a room with a workbench, a small generator, two chairs, and a small table with a large window behind them, a few shelves, and a hole in the right wall.

The room was decorated with a Doey rug, a few drapes and banners with party flags hanging on the roof, and a hanging light at the center of the room.

Michelle looked at Giblet as the larger toys entered the room, while the smaller toys looked around. "So this is your place, huh?" she asked, which made him turn to her. "It's very... minimalistic."

Giblet rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, I know it's not much, but, uh... who needs fancy murals on the walls and string lights or a barber shop or whatever?" he said before approaching the generator. "And I got plans anyway. I... I'm not gonna be down here forever."

When Giblet pressed a few buttons on the generator, it started making noise before he hit it a few times, which made it work.

Giblet turned to the group. "Look, I'm not the kinda guy who spends time feeling sorry for himself," he said. "I mean the way I see it, everything's a tragedy until it's meant to be."

Giblet gestured to the window. "You think all of this is a coincidence?" he asked. "You ending up down here, like this?"

Michelle looked out the window and saw Poppy Gel inside craters and a large spotlight at the top right corner. "All of us... wanting to kill the Prototype..." Giblet said.

Michelle looked at the group. "I mean, that's where this train is headed, right?" Giblet asked rhetorically.

Michelle looked at Giblet as he scratched his cheek. "I'm not some kind of hero, but... I can help you as one of your sidekicks."

Kevin crossed his arms. "Before we do anything, Misha needs a new prosthetic right arm," he said.

Michelle looked at the base of the broken prosthetic. "Kevin's right, especially when you consider where we're at," Bubba Bubbaphant said.

Giblet nodded. "Fair point," he said as he moved his hand up and down a bit. "She won't last down here with just a cheap night light."

Glowby started making offended noises, which made Giblet roll his left eye and move his right arm down a bit. "Yeah, chirp all you want, I'm the one who scared off all those Outimals," he continued.

Giblet looked at the group. "As for parts for making a right prosthetic, I remember seeing lots of gear in the Boilers after the uh... after it all went down," he said before placing his hand on his chin. "Pretty sure I saw an old grabber down there."

Doey nodded before looking at DogDay. "Then we'll need to form a search party to find it," he said.

DogDay nodded. "I'll lead the search party," he said before looking at Hoppy Hopscotch, KickinChicken, and PickyPiggy. "Hoppy, Kickin', Picky, you three are with me."

The trio nodded. "Yes, sir!" they shouted.

As the small group approached the hole in the wall, Bubba Bubbaphant looked at Michelle. "As for what remains of the broken prosthetic, I can still work with the base, so it needs to come off," he said.

Michelle nodded as she held her right arm out; when Bubba Bubbaphant's trunk was close to a turning contraption near the base of the broken prosthetic, he turned it to the left.

Soon after, Bubba Bubbaphant wrapped his trunk around the broken prosthetic before pulling it off Michelle's arm, revealing a stump with a large red scar above her elbow. Michelle lowered her right arm and stared at her stump. "It's really gone..." she said, lowly.

Kevin looked at Michelle, concerned. "Misha..." he said, lowly.

Michelle took a deep breath before sighing. "I'm alright..." she said as she held her upper right arm. "It's just... a lot to take in..."

Kevin remained silent and nodded as Michelle looked at the group. "For now, we can use this place as a resting area," she continued. "Once I have a new prosthetic, we'll come up with a plan of action."

The group silently agreed before they did their own thing; as Michelle sat on the ground, Katelynn sat beside her. "You gonna get some sleep?" she asked.

Michelle glanced at Katelynn before looking down. "Well, not sleep, just... gonna rest my eyes for a bit," she said.

Katelynn frowned a bit before picking Michelle up, which surprised her. Soon after, Katelynn placed Michelle in a gap between her legs before wrapping her arms and tail around her. "So it won't be uncomfortable for you," she said.

Michelle looked at Katelynn before chuckling a bit and laying her head against her chest. "Thanks, Katie..." she said.

Katelynn smiled. "Rest up... you deserve it..." she whispered.

Michelle nodded and lay her head against Katelynn's arm; she looked at the others before slowly closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.

...

...

...

In a dark area, Michelle winced a bit before slowly opening her eyes; she sat up and looked around. "Where... am I?" she asked herself.

When Michelle looked down, her eyes widened when she saw wooden legs and a white dress. As Michelle held her right arm out, she saw the GrabPack-like lower arm, while her upper arm was wooden, which mortified her.

When Michelle grabbed her hair with her left hand, she saw reddish-brown strands, which made her tremble and grip it. "No, no, no, no..." she said, lowly.

A bright light shone before Michelle, which made her look forward; her eyes widened when she saw the smaller toys inside Safe Haven.

Michelle stood up and sprinted toward the group; unbeknownst to her, she was dragging a cross with strings connected to her back. One of the Prototypes' legs stepped on the cross, which stopped Michelle and made her hit the ground.

When Michelle sat up and turned her head to the back, her eyes widened when she saw the Prototype hidden in the shadow, except for his glowing yellow eye and one of his legs on the cross. "You aren't going anywhere," he said.

The Prototype carefully grabbed the cross before lifting it, which lifted Michelle in the process. Michelle glared at the Prototype as she struggled to move. "Damn it, let me go!" she shouted.

The Prototype brought Michelle close to his face. "Why should I?" he asked before holding the cross forward. "The fun is about to begin..."

When Michelle looked forward, Red Smoke started filling inside Safe Haven; the smaller toys started getting tired before they collapsed on the ground.

When Michelle heard a beeping noise, she tried to turn her head away, but the Prototype carefully placed his fingers under her chin and made her look forward; soon after, she saw an explosion, which made her eyes widen.

When the smoke cleared, she saw the smaller toys scattered around the area, dead, which made tears prick Michelle's eyes. "NO!!" she shouted.

Most of the larger toys entered Safe Haven and looked around, devastated; they heard banging on the large gate, which made them turn to it. Soon after, Boxy Boo's fingers went through the gate's gap, which made the larger toys take fighting stances.

As Boxy Boo's hand pushed one of the gates away, his other hand grabbed the other one before pushing them apart and roaring at them. Huggy Wuggy roared at Boxy Boo before charging toward him.

Huggy Wuggy attempted to bite Boxy Boo, but he moved out of the way and sank his teeth into him, which made him yelp. Michelle was mortified as Huggy Wuggy made pained noises with blood coming out of his mouth before he went limp. "No..." she said, lowly.

As Boxy Boo let go of Huggy Wuggy's corpse, the other larger toys charged toward him, which made him roar.

Mommy Long Legs shot her right arm toward Boxy Boo, but he dodged and grabbed it, which shocked her. Boxy Boo pulled Mommy Long Legs toward him and tied her arm around herself.

Before Mommy Long Legs could do anything, Boxy Boo grabbed her neck and started pulling it, which made her scream. Michelle trembled as Boxy Boo ripped Mommy Long Legs's head off. "Stop..." she said, lowly.

Before CatNap could blow his Red Smoke, Boxy Boo shot toward him and grabbed his head before slamming him to the ground. Soon after, Boxy Boo lifted CatNap and started pulling him until he was torn in half. "Stop it..." Michelle said, lowly.

The other larger toys charged toward Boxy Boo, but they were killed one after another. "Stop it now..." Michelle said, lowly.

As Boxy Boo tried to catch his breath, Doey and Katelynn entered the room; they looked at the carnage in horror before looking at him with growls and sharpened claws.

Unbeknownst to the duo, a liquid nitrogen canister dropped behind them before a flare hit it and exploded, which froze the duo in place. Michelle was devastated. "Stop it... please..." she said, lowly.

Boxy Boo charged toward the duo. "Don't do it!!" Michelle shouted.

Boxy Boo punched the duo, shattering them to pieces; tears fell from Michelle's eyes. "You bastard!!!" she shouted.

As Boxy Boo tried to catch his breath, the Prototype looked at Michelle. "I think it's time we part ways," he said before cutting the strings on the cross, which made her hit the ground.

As Michelle sat up, the Prototype's fingers stabbed her right leg, which made her scream in pain. When the Prototype disappeared, Boxy Boo turned his head to Michelle, which made her look at him, petrified.

As Michelle tried dragging herself away, Boxy Boo charged her. When Michelle turned her head to Boxy Boo, he roared with his mouth open, which made her scream.

...

...

...

Michelle jolted herself awake in a cold sweat and tried to catch her breath. Michelle pulled her upper right arm and saw her stump; she frantically looked around and noticed the smaller toys were playing while some of the larger toys were resting.

As Michelle controlled her breathing, she looked at the workbench and spotted Bubba Bubbaphant tinkering on it while Kevin and DogDay observed, which made her sigh in relief. "You alright, Big Sister?" Katelynn asked.

When Michelle looked up, she saw Katelynn looking at her, concerned. "You were moving a lot," she continued.

Michelle sighed and looked forward. "I'm fine..." she said, lowly. "Just... had a nightmare..."

Katelynn frowned. "Was it bad?" she asked.

Michelle looked down. "Very..." she said, lowly.

Katelynn looked down. "Do you want some alone time?" she asked.

Michelle remained silent until she nodded. "Yes, please..." she said, lowly.

Katelynn nodded as she unwrapped her arms and tail around Michelle before she stood up. "I won't be far..." she continued before approaching the vent.

Katelynn stood up and glanced at the trio near the workbench before approaching them. When Katelynn was close to Kevin, she tapped his shoulder, which made him look at her. "Katie?" he asked.

Katelynn gestured to the right, which made Kevin tilt his head a bit. When Kevin turned his head to the right, he spotted Michelle crouching near the vent before entering it. "I got ya..." he said, lowly, before petting Katelynn's head. "Thanks for the heads up."

Katelynn nodded as Kevin pulled his hand away before turning his head to Bubba Bubbaphant. "Hey, Bubba—" he stopped midsentence when he waved his padded foot. "Say no more, I'm halfway done, and I have DogDay with me; you can go after her."

Kevin nodded. "Thanks," he said before approaching the vent.

When Kevin was close to the vent, he kneeled before it. "Is Big Sis gonna be OK?" a young male voice asked, which surprised him.

Kevin turned his head to the source and saw a worried Bunzo Bunny; he remained silent before looking down.

Kevin sighed a bit before slightly smiling at Bunzo Bunny and retracting the claws on his left hand; soon after, he petted his head. "She'll be OK, squirt; I promise," he said.

Bunzo Bunny smiled a bit as Kevin pulled his hand away before entering the vent. As Kevin crawled forward, he could hear humming in the distance, which surprised him and made him stop. Misha's lullaby... he thought.

Kevin looked down with a slight frown. She usually hums it when something bad has happened, or if her throat is hurting, he thought before looking forward and continuing to crawl. It's definitely not gonna be the second one...

After Kevin got out of the vent, he stood properly and looked around before spotting Michelle sitting inside a tent, staring at her stump and humming her lullaby.

As Kevin approached Michelle, she stopped humming before looking at him. "Let me guess, Katie sent you?" she asked.

Kevin sighed. "Yeah, but you know how she is," he said before sitting next to Michelle. "Plus, Bunzo was worried about you, too."

Michelle looked forward with a slight hum. "I see..." she said, lowly.

Kevin glanced at Michelle. "Wanna tell me what happened?" he asked.

Michelle sighed a bit. "Nothing terrible, just... had a nightmare," she said.

Kevin hummed a bit. "Wanna talk about the said nightmare?" he asked.

Michelle looked away. "Not really..." she said, lowly.

Kevin nodded as silence filled the room; when Michelle glanced at her stump, she remembered the wooden right arm and Boxy Boo killing the larger toys in her nightmare. Michelle looked down and held her upper right arm. "Hey, Kev..." she said, lowly.

Kevin looked at Michelle with a hum. "Do you... think things would've been different if I..." she said, lowly.

Kevin stared at Michelle before looking forward. "If you became a toy?" he asked.

Michelle remained silent and nodded. "Is this question related to your nightmare?" Kevin asked.

Michelle nodded again, which made Kevin sigh and rub the back of his head. "Would things be different? Probably..." he said.

Michelle gripped her arm a bit. "Would I want you to become a toy?" Kevin asked before looking down. "Honestly, no..."

Michelle was surprised, and her grip loosened before looking at Kevin. "Really?" she asked.

Kevin nodded. "In some twisted way, there are some merits in becoming a toy, but..." he said before looking at Michelle. "There are a lot of things I can't do anymore."

Kevin gestured to himself and Michelle. "Take us, for example..." he continued. "Sure, I can still hold your hands and kiss you as time passes, but I'm never gonna be able to give you the family you've dreamt of."

Kevin looked down with a slight frown. "And we could never grow old and die together..." he said. "When you're gone... the only thing I'll have left is memories of you until decades or centuries have passed..."

Kevin looked at Michelle. "And if you did become a toy... you'd be going through the same pain as all of us," he continued.

Kevin looked down and trembled with dark teal dough tears pricking his eyes. "And that's the last thing I'd want you to go through..." he said, lowly.

Michelle frowned and let go of her upper right arm before gently wiping the dark teal dough tears from Kevin's eyes, which made him look at her. "I can see where you're coming from, but... I don't need you to do any of that..." she said.

Michelle gently placed her hand against Kevin's cheek and carressed it with her thumb. "You, Katie, and all the toys in the group, including Poppy and Kissy... all of you are my family... and that is something that will never change," she continued before smiling. "Even when I'm an old raisin."

Kevin stared at Michelle before chuckling a bit and placing his hand over hers. "I'd still love you even if you were one..." he said.

Michelle giggled a bit and looked at Kevin before the couple kissed. After the couple pulled away, Kevin lay his head against Michelle's chest, which made her gently wrap her left arm around his neck and pet his head before she started humming her lullaby.

Kevin glanced at Michelle. I guess there's a third option to why she hums her lullaby, and honestly... this one is nice... he thought before closing his eyes.

When Michelle finished humming, she looked at Kevin and unwrapped her arm from his neck. "I think it's time we get back to the others," she said.

Kevin nodded as he pulled away before the couple stood up. Unbeknownst to the couple, a few Outimals stared at them as they approached the vent before crouching and entering it. "That human..." the large green Outimal said.

An Outimal with purple fur sticking out of it nodded. "Their hope..." he said. "The Judge wants them dead..."
