Fury looked at Coulson. "So Kakashi was warning us of Hydra. Did he have to reveal it in front of the entire council? He could have told us before so we could do our own investigation and route out the spies." The director sat behind his desk with a serious expression.
He had suspected something was wrong inside SHIELD for a while, but hearing the name Hydra made everything clearer and more dangerous.
Hydra was an organisation that had single handedly caused most of the countries to ally together against the Nazis and them. They were the reason that SHIELD had formed to prevent such organisations from rising up again.
And while Kakashi had not said it directly that there were traitors in SHIELD, Fury could take the hint from his previous interaction with Kakashi and why Kakashi had refused to tell him some of the things. He had feared about Hydra getting to know them from Shield.
Coulson replied, "And he believes that SHIELD is infiltrated by them."
Fury gritted his teeth angrily. "Someone is using SHIELD as a pawn. Whoever it is, I will find them and feed them to a Flerken."
He would not let anyone destroy the organisation he had built from the inside.
Coulson hesitated before speaking. "I have my suspicions Director. But I do not think that you will like them."
He knew the accusation he was about to make was big, but the evidence from his investigation pointed in that direction.
Fury said glaring at him, "I do not like many things, Coulson. I do not like the situation I am currently in. I do not like cats. I do not like dogs. I do not like being in a relationship with women. So go on, it does not matter if there is one more thing that I would not like."
His glare was intense but he was ready to hear the truth no matter how unpleasant it was. He had learned long ago that ignoring problems only made them worse.
Coulson said, "I suspect Secretary Pierce to be working for Hydra along with Agent Sitwell." He explained the small clues he had gathered, the unusual orders, and the way certain missions were handled.
The evidence was not complete yet, but it was enough to raise serious doubts.
"You know what you are saying? He is someone who had helped create SHIELD for what it is today. Why would he ruin it himself?" Fury asked with clear disbelief in his voice.
The idea that one of the founders and one of his close friends could be working for the enemy was hard to accept, but Fury's own instincts had been warning him for some time.
He remembered how Pierce had taken years to convince the Security Council about the Avengers initiave. Now it alk made sense, why it had taken long but Fury still wanted to have some trust in his boss and friend.
"Director, I know you well enough to know you have your own suspicions about him. I think we should try looking into him," Coulson said firmly.
Fury sighed. "Very well but if I get fired for investigating our boss, I am taking you down with me Coulson."
Coulson smiled. "I would not have it any other way, Director."

Kakashi was on his way in a car to inspect one of the locations outside of New York that he believed to be a safe house of Hydra.
He was currently outside the city, driving through quieter roads with trees on both sides. He decided to just travel on a car instead of body flickering his way.
He was driving a Mercedes S-Class. The black vehicle moved gracefully, and Kakashi enjoyed the quiet drive.
Truth be told, he enjoyed driving cars. He did not know that he could find himself an interest that he loved beyond reading his novels.
But riding cars and even motorcycles was fun for him. The feeling of control and the scenery passing by gave him a rare moment of peace in his busy life.
'This new world does have so many forms of hobbies for people. In some ways it is better than my previous world if we ignore aliens but then again my world also got the taste of its first alien. Who knows what my students are currently facing there,' Kakashi thought.
His joyful ride came to an end as he saw grenades being thrown in front of his car. He immediately skidded his car to the side with quick reflexes.
The car turned sharply, avoiding the explosions that went off on the road. He then saw a spear coming straight for him. He immediately used Kamui as the spear embedded itself into his seat after breaking through the glass.
The weapon would have gone straight through him if he had not phased. He appeared on the other front seat, steering the wheel to keep the car from crashing completely.
But then he heard the beeping sound on the spear.
*BOOOOM*
The car was enveloped in flames as Kakashi appeared in a swirl a few metres away from the burning car.
The car was now a burning wreck on the side of the road, smoke rising into the air.
He looked at his car with a sigh and turned to look at his fully black clothed attackers. "And I just bought that car," Kakashi said.
