Edmund's POV
I gripped the steering wheel of my car, driving aimlessly as I hesitated to go to my next destination. I could not believe Mum could be such a cunning person to go to such lengths. As much as I would deny what went through my mind, there was not enough reason to do so. Aunt Ruby did not talk bad about Mum. Not even once. Technically neither did Elle.
I gritted my teeth, trying to convince myself that there must be a reason for Mum to do so. But the lingering distaste nestled at the core of my heart rejected fully. It must have been an hour driving without a purpose when I had come to the conclusion to stop making excuses.
I removed all intentions of wanting to visit mum. If she was playing a mental game, I refused to participate in it. Let alone, fallen prey into it and gave her the satisfaction she did not deserve. Instead with a lighted heart, I went back home.
