Sophie Smith, standing aside, noticed Irene Morton's unusual behavior.
"What's wrong?" She walked to Irene's side, forcefully holding onto Irene's hands that were tightly gripping her own thighs, preventing her from self-harming.
Irene's face was pale, convulsing. Sophie suddenly remembered what Asher Land had said not long ago upon seeing her condition.
"Irene, calm down!"
"How do you want me to calm down?" Irene's voice was trembling intensely, "I want to take that stuff right now, you know? You know?" Irene fiercely shook off Sophie's hands, yelling angrily at her.
"That addiction can be overcome. You need to believe in yourself!" Sophie was about to say more, but Irene's heartrending roar interrupted her.
"Get out! I don't want you to see me like this now!" Irene's face twisted as she grabbed things from the bathroom and hurled them in Sophie's direction. Her actions appeared irrational, completely uncontrolled by her own will.
