Arif started walking toward the path he had carved into the forest.
He didn't look back.
He just raised one hand lazily and waved over his shoulder as he walked away.
"I'll see you guys again," he called out casually, "if you manage to stay alive."
Camilla, James, and even Kaelith watched his back with their mouths slightly open.
James finally broke the silence.
"Who the hell is that guy…" he muttered. "I almost died in that fog and those illusions… and he seemed almost completely unaffected. Instead, he just tore a path through the forest—and the fog—like it was nothing."
Kaelith shrugged helplessly.
"Don't ask me. I'm just as surprised as you are."
James let out a long sigh.
"Ever since I met Lucifer," he said, rubbing his face, "I've been having near-death encounters way too often."
Kaelith nodded. "Yeah… I can't argue with that."
Both of them nodded in mutual understanding.
Then Kaelith noticed something.
Camilla wasn't speaking.
