Chapter 362 - Chapter 362: My Heart

Chapter 362: My Heart

He gripped the two-handed sword with one hand, a whirlwind of motion, and was immediately certain his feeling was correct. It was indeed too light.

But Eskel said there were no larger swords in the armory than the two-handed one. There was, however, a giant, dust-covered sword blank. It wasn't a weapon but just a piece of junk some witcher had picked up outside, no one knew when.

But a sword blank would have to do. He'd make it work. It wasn't like he was taking it into battle for real.

The sword blank was quite heavy. Even Eskel could barely lift it, but he definitely wouldn't want to fight with something so unwieldy.

Grasping the sword blank, Lynn gave it a few practice swings. He was surprised to find that, aside from being hard to hold without a hilt, the weight felt just right. With everyone's eyes on him, Lynn raised the blank and swung it at the dummies.

A fierce gust of wind seemed to sweep across the training grounds. With a skull-rattling clang of metal on metal, the armored dummies were sent flying, crashing into the walls of Kaer Morhen and kicking up a cloud of dust. Everyone present was speechless, their faces saying, "Is this even a person?" Only Tissaia looked on with the fanaticism and excitement of someone witnessing a great scientific breakthrough.

Even setting aside the promise of shared benefits she and Lynn had made, just seeing this superhuman being in front of her made Tissaia feel that her efforts had been more than worth it.

Next, Lynn put on the "Maximilian-style" full plate armor just like Geralt had. But that wasn't all. Lynn had someone find a few leather straps and used them to strap the massive sword blank to his back like a regular sword.

He was basically creating his own challenges. When he completed the full course carrying far more weight than Geralt, where Geralt had been slightly tired, Lynn was only breathing a little heavily.

The others descended from the tower to join him, their eyes full of admiration. They had all gone through the second mutation, too, but their changes were nothing like Lynn's. Witchers were, of course, a group that respected strength.

While their principles and daily lives, apart from the overly extreme Cat School and the emotionless Bear School, didn't promote "bullying the weak because you're strong," the rule that "the strong will always be respected" certainly applied.

This was especially true for Oakes and Serrit of the Viper School. If their loyalty to Lynn before was based on money and the promises he made, their loyalty now was absolute and personal.

"Do you want to rest first?" Tissaia asked, trying to contain her excitement. This woman, who always exuded intelligence, composure, and grace, now had a slight tremble in her voice. She had a premonition that she was about to witness a miracle.

Lynn shook his head. Although this was only a test, it could also be seen as a fight. And in a fight, the enemy would never give you a break.

The former rector nodded. Everything was quickly reset.

Still wearing the plate armor, Lynn let out a deep breath. He formed a Sign with his left hand and pushed it forward.

"Igni."

A horrifying wave of fire erupted from his palm, instantly engulfing the armored dummies in front of him. The intense heat warped the very air. Just as Lynn himself was taken aback by the power and ended the spell, the thirty-meter-long fan-shaped area in front of him had become a sea of flames.

Tissaia and Yennefer quickly summoned a downpour to extinguish the fire. But the scorched earth still spoke silently of what had just happened.

As for the dummies that had been used as targets, the signs of destruction were obvious. Their heavy armor was melted and warped beyond recognition, not to mention the dummies inside. If they had been living men, they would be charred corpses by now.

Even after only one Sign, Tissaia's look of shock at Lynn was unmistakable. Geralt and the others, who had undergone the second mutation, had already met the standard that the Brotherhood of Sorcerers had originally set.

As for Lynn... his current power could be called that of the strongest witcher in history. According to a sorcerer's rating system, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call Lynn a "legendary witcher."

A legend? A certain light flashed in Tissaia's eyes. If there was a legend, perhaps Lynn and his cause could go further.

Others didn't know, but Tissaia knew very well that the collapse of the witcher guilds was actually orchestrated by the Brotherhood of Sorcerers. The Brotherhood had allowed Alzur and Cosimo to create witchers, but they saw witchers as nothing more than mass-produced, cheap golems. There was no way they would allow their creations to be their equals.

While Alzur and Cosimo were still around, it was one thing, since they were both members of the Brotherhood and legendary sorcerers themselves. But after the two of them abandoned the witcher guilds to pursue other goals, the voices within the Brotherhood who opposed witchers gradually gained the upper hand. Combined with the fact that the witcher community had no legendary witcher to stand against the Brotherhood, their fate turned out the way people knew it now.

But now, a leader had emerged among the witchers—a legend. And the Brotherhood of Sorcerers was no longer as powerful as it had been for centuries.

Tissaia believed that as long as Lynn followed her advice, they could delay the Brotherhood's discovery of this abnormality for as long as possible. Of course, she could give him that advice later. There was no need to pour cold water on him now. This was a time for these young people to celebrate.

"Although your body is very healthy, for the next month, you should not stay up late, drink alcohol, overexert yourself, or engage in vigorous exercise... for the sake of your stomach, which has just gone through the mutation, Yennefer and I will formulate a nutrition plan for you later..." Tissaia explained patiently.

The other witcher brothers, who had been so excited and awe-filled just a moment ago, now looked at Lynn with sympathy and pity. Lynn himself remained calm. It's just boiled chicken breast, he thought. He had eaten it before when he was on a diet in his past life.

It's okay. How could boiled chicken breast taste like human food?
