Chapter 220 - Chapter 220: The Death-and-Revival Orb

The forest in September was cool in the afternoon. The chirping of insects and birds was incessant. Three patches of ten-foot-tall wild grass stood incongruously, as if showing off that they had just been given some kind of booster. The otherwise peaceful scene was broken by a shout of "Rasengan Barrage," making Little Lingtong, who was ambushing birds and beasts, squeak in annoyance.

Jiraiya gently stroked his Gamariki's (Jiraiya's toad companion) forehead, watching Naruto, who held an orb in each hand and charged towards a wild boar, couldn't help but sigh.

Although the result of this child's ninjutsu, compared to its initial intention, had strayed from Konoha to the Uzumaki ruins, its power was undeniable.

As an advanced version of the Rasengan, even the Rasenshuriken and his own Gōen Rasengan couldn't achieve an instant kill upon contact. Yet, this "medical ninjutsu" actually managed to do it.

He had lived for so many years and had truly never seen such a fierce medical ninjutsu.

Suddenly, his hands paused.

Wait... these two orbs' shapes and colors, if changed to... wouldn't that be... hehehe...

His hand unconsciously moved to Gamariki's abdomen, drawing circles and kneading...

Inspiration! Inspiration has struck!

Jiraiya quickly pulled out a manuscript and began writing furiously.

Gamariki, meanwhile, remained perfectly still.

With two thumps, the Rasengan exploded. Naruto pulled out a tapestry and sat cross-legged, contemplating.

If one orb before meant instant death upon contact, then two orbs were even more formidable: the wild boar died before even being touched. However, Naruto wasn't sure if he had misjudged the tiny distance.

So, he pulled in Sasuke.

After a brief explanation, Naruto handed him two cards, one white and one red, saying, "Later, if you encounter one that dies like the previous ones, raise the red card. Otherwise, raise the white card. Understand?"

Sasuke said nothing, silently took the cards, and activated his Sharingan.

"Very good." Naruto thought of the Valley of the End, smiling as he created the Life Orb.

Sasuke instantly retreated, his eyes locked on the Rasengan in Naruto's hand.

His body's instinct told him that being hit by this technique... meant certain death!

And, he actually couldn't copy this advanced version?!

Naruto rolled his eyes.

This is a medical ninjutsu, okay?! Do you really have to be so afraid of every single one? How am I supposed to heal you then?

Walking to the wild boar at number five, Naruto held a ball in each hand and directly slammed them down.

Sasuke silently raised the red card.

No matter the animal, there would be a stress response after death, such as convulsions or wide-open eyes. But under the Sharingan's vision, Sasuke could clearly see that the moment before the two Rasengan touched the wild boar, its muscles had already completely relaxed; there wouldn't even be a stress response.

One could say it passed away very peacefully.

"Alright, you can go." Knowing the result, Naruto didn't plan to keep him long. Standing there, unable to get a peep out of him, he was an eyesore.

With that, Naruto walked towards experimental subject number six.

While experimenting, he had his clones capture wild boars. Finally, after finishing experimental subject number seventeen, Naruto rushed excitedly to Jiraiya's side and patted him. "Old man, it's alive, it's alive!"

His train of thought interrupted, Jiraiya snapped angrily, "Scram! I'm not dead yet!"

"No, I mean the wild boar is alive."

Jiraiya: "..."

Why do I feel like you're insulting me?

"Alright, take me to see."

"Oh."

The two walked to experimental subject number seventeen. They saw a giant wild boar, eight or nine meters long, being pinned down by two clones with red giant claws, one at its front legs and one at its hind legs. It struggled and writhed.

On its side, a circular area of accumulated pine resin and sand from years of rubbing against trees had been manually peeled off, revealing pitch-black skin. Spiral-shaped marks on the skin indicated it had just been hit by a Rasengan, but it wasn't dead!

"Why is this?" Jiraiya was utterly bewildered.

Pointing at the dozen or so patches of grave grass around, he said, "Pull those out for me to see."

"Alright." Naruto formed hand signs and released clones.

A dozen or so clones walked to the wild boar's "grave mound," pushed aside the ten-foot-tall wild grass that was destined to turn into barren weeds in a few days, and pulled out sixteen wild boars of varying sizes from inside. They brought them to the two, forming a circle.

They also peeled off the pine resin layer.

Jiraiya inspected them carefully, his brows furrowed. Although these wild boars were dead, their bodies had no injuries whatsoever. This was very strange. Wild boars were fierce beasts; fighting was common for them, so how could they have no injuries?

"Go catch a few more for experimentation. I want to see again."

Half an hour later, Naruto sat in front of a tall patch of grave grass, listening to Jiraiya explain his profound insights, occasionally adding a few sentences from his own imagination.

Because life force was an invisible power, the two could only speculate.

Their speculations were largely based on the principle of "like repels like." Since it was a life force Rasengan, and it could kill wild boars, and the wild boars had no obvious injuries, then it must be attacking life force.

The high-speed rotating Rasengan would instantly knock out the wild boar's life force upon contact, and a double-impact Rasengan would form a tearing life force vortex, thus causing death without even touching.

After the Rasengan exploded, even if already dead, it would heal the body's injuries, meaning the person died, but the injuries healed.

If the life force wasn't completely knocked out, and it fortunately didn't die, it would then inject Naruto's life force into it. That vigorous life force, absorbed from the dragon's egg, far exceeded what was knocked out, making experimental subject number seventeen even more active than before.

In summary, as long as you weren't killed by the hit, you could live.

As for whether you could live, it all depended on whether you had enough life force.

Given its effect, Naruto named this Rasengan the Death-and-Revival Orb.

Jiraiya's temples throbbed with anger. I've lived for over fifty years, and I've truly never seen a medical ninjutsu like this. Who can this thing heal? Even I wouldn't dare take it. What injured person could withstand one of your orbs and not die?

Though angry, given the bizarre change in direction of the previous Rainbow Rasengan incident, he still asked, "Are there any other changes?"

"Yes." Naruto said happily. He had felt it during the experiment just now: this Death-and-Revival Orb was like an extension of his own life. It moved as effortlessly as his own arm, and he didn't even need to hold it.

He formed a pure white orb, then slowly withdrew his hand, but the Rasengan floated motionless. He formed two more and released them too. The three orbs remained still.

Naruto closed his eyes. The three orbs simultaneously changed color. When they turned purple-black, Naruto suddenly opened his eyes. Then, the three orbs circled him within a half-meter radius, constantly interweaving and rotating.

With a thought, the three orbs flew out, stopping at five meters and then returning to fly behind him. The maximum range was also five meters.

It was very similar to a Truth-Seeking Orb, but the difference was that Naruto's quantity was unlimited. If he wanted to, he could fill a five-meter radius with Rasengan.

Regarding this distance, Naruto guessed it was related to the field of vision opened up by the game, since both were five meters.

"This is somewhat useful." Jiraiya nodded in satisfaction. Whether for offense or defense, this technique had a clear effect. As long as Naruto kept it behind him, he wouldn't have to worry about close-range surprise attacks from behind, after all... a glancing blow meant death.

As for offense...

Before he could finish thinking, Naruto made a huge leap, changed direction in mid-air, inverted his body, formed a Death-and-Revival Orb in his hand, and plunged it straight into the earth. With a boom, it exploded, sending dust flying.

Jiraiya retreated to avoid the dust, roaring, "What are you doing?!"

Naruto scratched his head, saying disappointedly, "I wanted to see if it could lift me up..."

Jiraiya was speechless.

Did Minato get it wrong in his haste back then, picking up the wrong baby from next door?
