The first world we decided to conquer was called Virexon.
A somewhat advanced mortal civilization with a population of around ten billion. Their technology level was decent, they had interplanetary travel within their own star system, some orbital defense platforms, and a fairly respectable military.
In other words, compared to most mortal worlds, they were doing pretty well.
Heck they were much more advanced than earth at the time I died in my last life, I mean, interplanetary travel was pretty much impossible by then...
So, to call Virexon weak would be wrong.
Sadly, compared to Asgard though…
They might as well have been cavemen throwing rocks. Even without my enhancements, Asgardian tech was pretty advanced, just the Bifrost itself offered beyond lightspeed travel throughout the universe.
That kind of tech is not something you possess without insanely high technology... It was just that the culture and magic part kind of hid it.
As we approached our target, the skies above Virexon suddenly darkened.
It was just an instant after all, designated space warp tech... not something essential for us, but I added it just for the aesthetics.
At first the people there thought it was some kind of eclipse.
Then their alarms started blaring.
Military satellites began sending panic signals to the planetary defense command.
Hundreds… no, thousands of massive unidentified objects had appeared in orbit.
And then the true horror revealed itself.
Massive silver-golden spaceships began descending through the atmosphere.
The largest among them dwarfed entire megacities.
It was the Einherjar, the flagship of the Asgardian fleet.
Behind it were hundreds of other warships, each one large enough to wipe out a nation if it wanted to.
Inside the Einherjar, I calmly looked down at the planet below.
Beside me stood Hela, who was staring at the massive planet with sparkling eyes.
"Ah… this is nice," she said happily.
"Nothing beats the feeling of starting a war." she continued, her expression kind of euphoric.
I chuckled.
"You do realize that all this is well... just for show.
You can let loose a bit if you want to, but try not to destroy the entire planet. It would be a pain to rebuild.
This time we are not looting the planet, so whatever we destroy here, the losses would be ours to bear."
Hela shrugged.
"Maybe... but no promises."
Moments later, the invasion began.
Fifty thousand warriors of Asgard descended onto the planet.
Golden beams of light streaked across the sky as the Aesir legion deployed.
This was the best part about the Viltrumite powers addition, it was this scene which made me have flutters... it was all worth it.
50,000 warriors of Asgard, floating in the skies above Virexon.
Each warrior wore the newly forged Legion Armor, their red capes fluttering behind them as they stood in the sky, looking down on the Virexonians, as if looking at a nest of ants.
To the people of Virexon, it looked like an army of gods had descended from the heavens.
Which… well, was pretty accurate.
The military of Virexon responded immediately.
Fighter jets filled the skies.
Missiles launched from planetary defense systems.
Armored divisions rolled across cities.
Their orbital fleet rushed to intercept the Asgardian ships.
It was quite impressive, honestly.
The battle was fierce, they almost thought they had a chance...
For about ten seconds.
Then the Einherjar fired once.
A single beam of energy erupted from the massive warship, and half of the planetary fleet was erased instantly.
The remaining ships lost power almost immediately as their systems were fried by Asgardian runic interference.
The entire orbital battle ended before it even properly started.
The ground battle was even worse.
Missiles struck the Aesir warriors.
They exploded harmlessly against the enchanted Uru armor... though even without the armor, they probably could not have harmed the enhanced warriors.
Tanks opened fire.
Then one warrior casually punched through the front armor of a tank, exploding it into scraps.
Elsewhere, an Aesir warrior simply walked through an entire battalion of soldiers while bullets bounced harmlessly off his armor.
The war wasn't even remotely fair.
In fact, calling it a war would be an insult.
It was closer to bullying...
A single Aesir soldier was already strong enough to conquer this planet.
And I had brought fifty thousand of them with me.
Within a few minutes, organized resistance collapsed.
Within half an hour, the planetary governments surrendered.
Within a single hour…
The world of Virexon belonged to Asgard.
I mean, I kind of knew that the war would be pretty underwhelming, but holy shit this was just too easy.
I teleported down to the planet's largest capital city soon after.
The skies above the city were filled with massive Asgardian warships.
Rows of golden armored warriors stood behind me.
In front of me…
Kneeled the rulers of the entire planet.
Kings.
Presidents.
Military commanders.
Corporate overlords.
Religious leaders.
The political situation of this world was kind of similar to earth, since they had not yet made proper contact with other alien civilizations, the borders still existed, though, the UN equivalent here held almost the entire power, unlike on earth where all they could do was... well strongly condemn stuff.
Anyone who had meaningful power over this world had been dragged here by the Asgardian soldiers.
There were thousands of them kneeling in the plaza.
All of them looked terrified.
Hela stood beside me and looked down at them.
"Huh… mortals really are fragile."
"That's kind of their defining trait, though, to completely disregard them because of it would not be very smart." I replied.
I raised my hand.
Golden runes appeared in the air above the plaza.
"From this moment onward," I said calmly, "this world now belongs to the Empire of Asgard."
The rulers trembled.
"However, I am a generous ruler."
"I will allow you to continue ruling your world."
A wave of golden light spread across the entire plaza.
My blessing descended upon them.
Power surged into their bodies.
Their muscles strengthened.
Their senses sharpened.
Their physical abilities rose far beyond ordinary mortals.
Each of them had just become something similar to a super soldier.
The difference between them and normal people of this world was now roughly the same as the difference between an ordinary human and Captain America.
Of course…
That wasn't the only thing my blessing did.
Hidden deep within that blessing was a mind control mechanism.
From this moment onward, none of them would ever be able to betray Asgard.
Not even if they wanted to.
The rulers slowly stood up.
They looked at their hands in shock.
Feeling the newfound power flowing through their bodies.
I smiled.
"Congratulations."
"You are now the rulers of this world under the authority of Asgard."
Next came the final step.
I raised my hand again.
Golden runes formed in the sky as an enormous sphere of light appeared above the city.
Inside that sphere…
A new intelligence was born.
An A.I.
Of course, calling it an A.I. was somewhat misleading.
It was actually just an extension of Eva.
[As expected, you are giving me more work.]
Eva's voice echoed in my mind.
'Meh, you enjoy it anyways.'
[...I tolerate it.]
'Oh, surely I was not the one who was excited at the prospect of controlling the growth patterns of a 100,000 worlds.'
[You were excited, that's why you are conquering them.]
'Objection, Your honor, I am conquering worlds because I want to. Not because I would like to rule them, I barely rule over Asgard, it's a tiring job for me.
Thankfully, you enjoy it, despite your poor acting.'
[Ughh... Fine, I really do want to see what is the maximum amount of growth I can bring to these worlds without straight up mind controlling the entire populace.
How perfect logic and calculations would work with the uncertain factor of emotions and free will...]
'And that's my Eva.'
[You know, some of these days, I will just stop your accelerated thinking, and you would make a fool out of yourself by spacing out at important events.
I think that would teach you not to tease me.]
'Nah, you love me too much to do anything.'
[I am cancelling your thought acceleration right now.]
'Heh. Do it.'
[I will seriously do it.]
'You know, with how much warning you have given, it would be strange if I paused even for a second to anyone observing.
So, as I said, you love me too much to do anything to me.'
[...]
'Love you too, Eva.'
I chuckled and focused back at my creation.
The newly created intelligence immediately spread across the entire planet's network systems.
Within seconds it had complete control over:
planetary communications
economic systems
infrastructure
logistics
resource management
Every system on the planet was now under its supervision.
"You see," I said to Hela as we watched the process complete.
"This planet will now be governed by this A.I., you can consider it an extension of my will."
"It will ensure optimal development."
"It will manage resources, infrastructure, economic growth, population expansion… everything."
Hela looked mildly impressed.
"So basically… the entire planet will be ruled by this A.I.?"
"Not just this one," I replied with a grin.
"In the future, all conquered worlds will be connected under the same system."
Truthfully, even I was excited to see what would happen...
Eva, the Mana of Wisdom, would govern the entire empire.
The Empire of Asgard was destined to flourish.
Beside me, Hela looked up at the sky where the massive Asgardian fleet still hovered above the planet.
"So… that's it? I did not get to enjoy this war..."
"That's it."
She blinked.
"That was… disappointingly easy."
I chuckled.
"Of course it was. But there's always a next time.
And, you can always spar with me if you feel like it."
"Hmm, Don't forget what you said." Hela looked completely serious.
I just smiled at her and then looked out at the horizon of the planet that had just fallen under my rule.
"There are still ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine worlds left to conquer. How many years do you think it will take?"
