Amodina had only just begun drifting into sleep when she felt a presence, a familiar and incredibly irritating presence.
The doors to her chambers had barely finished opening before she already knew exactly who it was. Very few people in all of Shadowvale Academy had the audacity to enter the High Priestess' private quarters without permission, and even fewer would dare do it at this hour of the night. Neryla happened to be one of those people, unfortunately.
The moonlight pouring through the towering windows painted silver across the huge room, illuminating the dark curtains, marble floors, and the massive bed positioned in the center of the chamber. Amodina remained lying where she was, one arm resting lazily under her head while the fabric of her silver robes pooled around her body like flowing water. She didn't bother turning toward the intruder. Instead, she let out a slow breath through her nose before speaking in a tired voice.
