Aralyn's POV
I stepped out of Professor Neryla's office, the door clicking shut behind me, and for a second, I just stood there, letting out a slow breath I didn't realize I'd been holding. My chest still felt tight from everything that had just happened inside, and my head was buzzing with her words, but at least it was over. At least I wasn't still standing in front of her sharp gaze, trying not to snap back at everything she said.
My eyes immediately moved to the spot just outside the door, expecting to see Kaiven standing there like she had told him to, probably leaning against the wall with that same annoying smirk on his face, but he wasn't there because of course he wasn't. Instead, the space was empty, like he had never been there in the first place, and honestly, I wasn't even surprised. Rules didn't seem to apply to people like him.
