The sunlight spilled through the floor-to-ceiling glass window onto the boy's face. His expression was focused and serious, his phoenix eyes wide open, biting his lip as he stared intently at Violet Zimmerman's ears.
His long fingers pinched the small hook of the earring, aligning it gently with the ear hole and slipping it in.
After putting on one, he immediately grabbed the other. Once both earrings were on, he clapped his hands and, staring at his handiwork, smiled and said.
"Big brother, you're really hopeless; it seems you're only suited for business!"
"Daxton, does it look good?" Violet Zimmerman looked around, the corners of her lips lifting into a joyful curve.
Daxton Lancaster snapped back to attention, took a slight breath, walked over, and placed his hands on Violet Zimmerman's shoulders, the slender man leaning over to look into the mirror with her.
The corners of his lips lifted slightly as he gently said, "It looks good."
