As Juliana Lancaster's words fell, the air seemed to freeze, and Evander Lancaster stared blankly at his mother-in-law, momentarily unsure how to "explain".
"Why aren't you speaking? Are you afraid to say something or is it just unspeakable?" Juliana's attitude was firm, showing no intention of letting it go easily.
Evander pursed his lips, ready to say that his mother had troubled Sophia Hamilton again, but just as he was about to speak, Sophia pushed open the bedroom door.
"Mom, make him leave! I don't want to see him!"
"Sophia, what's going on? Tell mom, and mom will stand up for you!" Juliana turned to her daughter; Sophia's thoughts mirrored Evander's, fearing that if her mother knew the truth, she would never agree for them to be together.
Walking with a swollen belly, she impatiently pushed Evander away, "Go, go, I don't want to see you,"
