The situation had become clear enough that there was no point in continuing to attack the Gorun formation directly. Every time I destroyed one of its projections, another simply took its place, while the runic circle above the battlefield continued producing increasingly powerful meteors.
Worse, the army below was not being depleted at anything resembling a meaningful rate. More Goruns continued emerging from the distant ranks, filling the spaces left by those we had killed until the army seemed almost as large as it had been when the trial began.
There was no end to them.
If we continued fighting this way, we would exhaust ourselves long before they ran out of soldiers.
I therefore stopped trying to break through the formation and focused entirely on defense. My attention shifted toward the meteors descending from the sky, and I began studying the Soul Force contained within each one rather than their physical structure.
