Chapter 1 - First Sign-in

[Ding!! Congratulations! You have been Sponsored by BlackHeart to be Transmigrated to another world!]

Ren was dumbfounded as a virtual message suddenly appeared before him.

"What's this?"

Just a moment ago, he, Ren Aion, had been at home, casually browsing Reddit on his phone. Then, out of nowhere, a terrible headache hit him, and he lost consciousness.

He wasn't sure how long he'd been out, but when he came to, he found himself in an unfamiliar place.

Looking around, he realized he was in a dark, unfamiliar room. There was a window nearby, but outside...

The sky was gloomy, with dark clouds hanging low. The world seemed like an ink painting stained with gray.

"ಠ__ಠ"

"Can I skip this?"

Ren muttered to himself. As an online novelist and Reddit fan, he was no stranger to scenes like this. Far from being afraid, he just sighed in mild annoyance. Still, he didn't complain.

"Hmm... so, as a transmigrator, I'm supposed to receive a syste-"

[DING!]

"Heh, knew it," Ren said, feeling satisfied.

[Installing SCP Sign-in System...]

[1%...]

[47%...]

[100%]

[Installation complete.]

[Ding! Congratulations, host, for activating SCP Sign-in System!]

Ren was surprised, though he had expected it. What's a transmigration without a system?

He had read thousands of online novels in the 21st century and knew exactly how these systems worked. With this, he didn't need to worry about his survival-or boredom-in this new world.

"What are the rules for signing in?" Ren asked mentally.

[Each day, the host can sign in and receive rewards. To sign in, simply command the system.]

"Hmm… but this is an SCP system, you say? This is a bit tricky."

You see, for many SCP entities, destroying the world is as easy as cracking a finger. There are so many SCPs capable of doing so. What worried Ren the most was that many of them were uncontrollable.

"Say, system, do the sign-in rewards include summoning SCPs into this world?"

[Answer: Rewards are based on the SCP the host obtains. The host may choose to summon the SCP into this world or merge with its anomalous traits. Warning: Summoned SCPs will only be loyal to the host, but their personalities will remain unchanged. Excessive restrictions may cause the SCP to refuse future summons.]

"Oh, that's fine then. Anyway, system, I choose to sign in now."

[Ding! Congratulations, host, for signing in! You have received: SCP-001 - When Day Breaks]

[Please choose whether to summon the SCP or receive its traits.]

( ˶°ㅁ°) !!

"WTF?! My first sign-in gives me SCP-001? You've got to be kidding me, right?"

You have to understand-SCP-001 consists of multiple proposals, each capable of bringing about the end of the world. And When Day Breaks… it's an anomaly that could destroy the world within 24 hours.

Its effect turns the sun into a red sun. When its light touches any carbon-based lifeform-like humans-it liquefies their flesh, while leaving behind a fragment of their consciousness.

Now you understand how terrifying it would be if he chose to summon it into this world.

"System, what will happen if I choose to merge with the anomalous traits?"

[Answer: The host will receive the anomalous trait [The Red Sun]

[The Red Sun (Anomalous Rank: Paradox-class)

Description: During the daytime, when the sun is shining, the host gains the ability to alter its properties. By selecting any location under sunlight, the host can activate the anomalous effect, causing exposed flesh to liquefy but still retaining tiny bit of consciousness of the target. ]

Seeing this, Ren didn't hesitate and chose to receive the anomalous traits instead of summoning the SCP.

As for the process… well, Ren didn't feel anything. Or maybe he did? It was hard to describe. He just felt like he could now change the properties of the sun as easily as breathing.

Unfortunately, there was no sunlight at the moment.

"Say, system, can you give me an identity?"

[Answer: Beginning identity merge with host.]

The moment the message appeared, a flood of unfamiliar memories rushed into his mind.

Ren was now living in Tokyo as an orphan. His parents had died in a car accident five years ago, leaving behind this house and an inheritance that could last him for years-as long as he used it wisely.

Still, Ren couldn't shake the feeling that this identity had been forcefully inserted into the world by the system. After all, the memories he received didn't include the faces of his parents or any relatives.

Which was… pretty strange.

Now, he was a second-year high school transfer student, and tomorrow would be his first day attending school.

Honestly, Ren didn't feel like going at all.

No joke-

he had already gone through high school once and knew exactly how troublesome it could be. And as an otaku, wouldn't it be better for him to become a novelist instead?

After all, he was an avid reader who could reread the same novel multiple times without getting bored. At this point, he practically remembered everything he had read.

Becoming a novelist was definitely an option.

"Anyway… let's just try attending school for now."

To be honest, Ren hoped that by going to school, he might figure out which world he had transmigrated into. And with the kind of reward he had received from the system, he believed this world was probably nothing but a peaceful one.

========The Next Day========

As the alarm went off, Ren woke up in his bed.

"Let's start the day with a sign-in!"

[Ding! Congratulations, host, for signing in! You have received: SCP-002 - The Living Room]

"Wait… do the rewards go in order? From 1 to 2, and next will be 3? Anyway, there's no way I'm summoning this SCP."

You see, SCP-002 is a large organic structure that resembles a distorted, fleshy room embedded within a bulbous, tumor-like mass. From the outside, it appears as a red, veiny growth roughly the size of a small building, with a single entrance leading inside.

Once you enter, it resembles a fully furnished apartment-complete with sofas, beds, lamps, and other household items. However, everything inside is made of biological material, often resembling human tissue and organs.

The anomaly's main danger is its ability to convert- objects and living beings-into furniture. When items or people are brought inside, they gradually disappear, and new "furnishings" appear shortly after, formed from their remains.

"System, what happens if I merge with its anomalous properties?"

[Answer: Detecting compatibility between SCP-002 and [The Red Sun]. If the host chooses to merge with the anomalous properties, they will fuse with [The Red Sun], further enhancing its abilities. After fusion, the host will obtain:]

[The Red Sun (Anomalous Rank: Paradox-Class)]

Description: During the daytime, when the sun is shining, the host gains the ability to alter its properties. By selecting any location under sunlight, the host can activate the anomalous effect, causing exposed flesh to liquefy. The liquefied flesh can then be reshaped into objects, retaining its organic texture and a fragment of the target's consciousness.

Seeing this, Ren felt like he was walking further down the path of a villain.

"Hisss… this is terrifying. I'm just a handsome, sunny gentleman-why are you giving me something straight out of a horror movie?"

After saying that, Ren walked out of his bedroom while recalling the school he would be attending.

Toyogasaki High School.

For some reason, the name felt familiar-like something he had heard before. If he had to guess, it was probably from one of the anime he used to watch.

And since it was the system that placed him there, following typical novel logic, Toyogasaki High School was likely the center of future events. If he wanted to figure out which world he was in, going there was the best option.

By anime logic, there were probably all kinds of people from different factions studying there.

Thinking about it that way, there were plenty of benefits to attending.

After all, what was the point of having so much power if he didn't use it?

And if there were multiple factions… then there would also be Targe-I mean, "training dummies."

Besides, with SCP anomalies, it was practically impossible for Ren to feel afraid.

You had to know-among many fictional worlds, the SCP universe ranked absurdly high. He would even bet that if an Aeon encountered certain SCP entities, they might have to bow their heads.

After all, the SCP world contained countless multiversal-and even narrative-level-entities, and the famous Scarlet King has enough power to chop down the "Tree" over there.

Furthermore, while becoming a novelist sounded nice, staying at home all day would get boring. And since Ren practically remembered every novel he had ever read, he could easily finish writing one in a month.

(Don't ask why a month. Typing was tiring, and Ren was just lazy.)

After taking a quick bath, brushing his teeth, and washing his face, Ren looked at himself in the mirror.

A strange sense of unreality washed over him.

He had truly traveled to another world. This wasn't a dream-it was real.

Especially when he looked at his younger self. (He had been 25 in his previous life.)

Ren smiled.

He didn't dwell on it for long.

Starting today, I'm a student again, he thought.

After wiping the water from his face, Ren changed his clothes and left the house.
