A white line stretched horizontally between them.
Ryoji's sword, mid-swing, froze in mid-air, unable to advance even a millimeter further!
Though he was less than a fist's distance from Sara, he couldn't cross that white line!
'Does white represent a domain of rejection?' Ryoji's expression turned fierce.
'So strong!'
Even without creating other Blazers, Sara's strength was far beyond that of ordinary opponents.
Knowing her own vulnerability, she would meticulously prepare before engaging in battle. If he failed to defeat her beforehand, he would miss the best opportunity to strike a fatal blow, making it nearly impossible to find another opening.
Roar!
Suddenly, the whine of a chainsaw filled the air.
Ryoji whirled around to see the rapidly spinning blade hurtling toward his head!
Forced to abandon Sara, he leaped backward to evade the attack.
"Why are you bothering with him?!"
Tatara Yui's petite figure charged between them.
Dark circles shadowed her eyes, as if she hadn't slept for days. Her teeth were as sharp as a shark's, and her gaze burned with vicious intensity.
"As we agreed, he's mine. You take care of the others!"
As soon as she finished speaking, she grabbed her chainsaw.
Her feet advanced silently, gliding forward like a ghost without a sound. The saw blade slashed straight for Ryoji's neck.
Clang…!
Ryoji swung his blade, deflecting the saw blade sideways with an ear-piercing clang.
With her weapon deflected so dramatically, Tatara Yui's guard was instantly wide open.
Ryoji seized the opportunity, lunging forward. In a flash of steel, his blade struck her squarely in the center of her chest, which was as unyielding as a cliff face.
Yet.
The full force of his strike failed to penetrate her body. Instead, the moment his blade struck her chest, it was completely deflected back.
"Such a pointless attack! Your vaunted swordsmanship is utterly useless against me!" Tatara Yui sneered.
She had been assigned as Ryoji's opponent precisely because she held an absolute advantage over him.
Ryoji remained silent.
His arms suddenly flowed like water, channeling the rebounding force from the blade strike through his waist and hips into his lower body. The energy converged in his feet and grounded itself into the earth.
He didn't retreat a single step.
Without a word, he surged forward again, his blade flashing like relentless waves, each strike crashing against Tatara Yui's defenses.
'How is this guy not being injured by his own force?' Tatara Yui thought in astonishment.
Her Reflector special ability was supposed to return all of an opponent's force back at them, rendering any form of force utterly incapable of penetrating her reflective barrier.
She had absolute confidence in her defensive capabilities, and she knew her special ability's reflective counterattack power was formidable.
When an equal force was redirected back at one's own body, unless one transformed into a formless, water-like stream impervious to force, it should be impossible to remain unscathed.
Yet Ryoji defied all logic. After reflecting all of his own force back at himself, he showed no signs of injury whatsoever, not even flinching or taking a single step back.
As the blade strikes continued relentlessly, Tatara Yui had no choice but to expend vast amounts of Magic Power to maintain her reflective barrier, forcing herself into a defensive crouch.
If she didn't maintain her Reflector, his sword would pierce her body with ease.
'This is bad!'
Tatara Yui's eyes widened.
Even though her Reflector hadn't broken, every slash that struck her body should have returned all its force to him.
Yet he hadn't retreated a single step, only the ground beneath his feet continued to crack!
'I don't understand!'
'I completely don't understand how he's doing this!'
Tatara Yui had indeed watched Ryoji's match against Kurogane Ikki. But just as Shinguuji Kurono and the others had long since lost track of their sword techniques, Tatara Yui couldn't comprehend such high-level swordsmanship either.
Convinced that her ability perfectly countered Ryoji's, she had already sealed her own defeat!
Tatara Yui completely lost her composure.
Faced with Ryoji's relentless, wave-like assault, she dared not deactivate her Reflector, even as the Magic Power within her body was draining at an alarming rate!
A mere thirty seconds!
Under Tatara Yui's incredulous gaze, Ryoji took a sudden, massive step forward, twisting his entire body into a coiled spring. The concrete beneath his feet shattered instantly.
BOOM!
A full-force slash roared forth with savage power.
Tatara Yui barely managed to raise her chainsaw to block, but the colossal force transmitted through her Spiritual Item (Device) sent her flying into the air!
Her figure soared through the air like a cannonball, crashing headfirst into the faculty building in the distance.
"Your own Magic Power is quite underwhelming," Ryoji mocked coldly as he retracted the Vrring Blade.
Compared to Sara, her magic power barely amounted to one-tenth.
After all, the last time Sara created Tatara Yui, the reflection layer lasted a full five minutes and showed no signs of reaching its limit. She even went on to conjure the black lion and Arisuin Nagi.
The Tatara Yui created by Sara must have been sustained by Sara's own Magic Power.
The gap between them was simply too vast.
"Bullshit! You're just too much of a monster..."
Tatara Yui's mind flooded with bitter resentment before she collapsed unconscious.
She had never encountered anyone who could withstand a half-minute barrage of her attacks completely unscathed. This guy's swordsmanship was so refined that even her ability, designed to absolutely counter special abilities, was utterly useless against him!
In the blink of an eye, Reflector had fallen!
Ryoji exhaled softly.
With this, Akatsuki Academy finally had its first casualty.
He could now move on to support his allies.
"Get out of my way!"
Just then, Kurogane Shizuku's furious shout echoed from nearby.
A man-sized black lion stood before her, unleashing deafening sonic blasts from its maw. The gale-force winds accompanying the blasts froze Kurogane Shizuku mid-air, immobilizing her completely.
The black lion's special ability was Stasis.
Anyone caught in the shockwave of the black lion's roar would be forced into a state of complete stillness, rendering them utterly immobile. Then, with a single devastating charge, it could instantly shatter Kurogane Shizuku's petite frame!
Fortunately, though paralyzed, Kurogane Shizuku could still manipulate water as a buffer, and her exceptional healing abilities meant she suffered no lasting harm from the forced stillness.
However, she had no desire to prolong the battle with this black lion. She was racing against time to rescue Arisuin Nagi!
Her repeated exposure to the roar stemmed from her deliberate avoidance of direct combat with the lion.
"Kurogane Shizuku! Leave Arisuin Nagi's rescue to me! Focus on fighting the Akatsuki Academy students!" Ryoji shouted.
"But…!"
"Trust me!"
Ryoji's command cut through her hesitation.
"...I understand!"
Kurogane Shizuku bit her lip, her eyes warring with indecision. After a long moment, she nodded sharply, her gaze hardening into a ferocious glare fixed on the loathsome lion.
