Chapter 149 - Night

When he touched the ground, Mewtwo deactivated his telekinesis, landing lightly before immediately moving from side to side, balancing his body and tail with practiced precision. His stance shifted naturally, almost like a predator adjusting before a hunt. The air around him still carried traces of psychic energy, faint sparks dancing around his frame as his glowing eyes remained fixed on the two boys.

Midoriya and Bakugo immediately tensed.

Both of them prepared themselves the moment Mewtwo lowered his center of gravity.

And then, he disappeared.

Not literally, but for their eyes, it might as well have been teleportation.

One instant he was standing several meters away, and in the next, he was already between them.

Their eyes widened.

When their gazes finally caught up to him, it was already too late.

A kick and a tail strike moved simultaneously toward each of them.

The attacks were absurdly fast.

Bakugo barely had enough time to widen his eyes before Mewtwo's glowing tail slammed directly against the side of his face, while Midoriya received a brutal kick to the jaw. The impacts echoed through the training ground, both boys sent flying in opposite directions.

Yet Mewtwo didn't stop there.

The moment Midoriya crashed backward, Mewtwo was already after him.

Midoriya tried to react quickly, forcing One For All through his body as green lightning exploded around his limbs. He attempted to dodge, weaving desperately from side to side, but Mewtwo's speed was overwhelming. Every movement the psychic made flowed perfectly into the next, without wasted effort, without hesitation.

A fist.

A knee.

A tail swipe.

A palm strike.

Midoriya barely managed to block two attacks before another one slipped through his guard.

His breathing became erratic.

His concentration broke little by little.

And with that, the control over One For All also started to crumble.

The energy around his body flickered violently.

Mewtwo noticed it immediately.

"He is losing focus already," he thought.

For someone using that much power, even a slight lapse in concentration was dangerous.

Midoriya attempted one last punch enhanced with One For All, however Mewtwo simply tilted his head slightly, avoiding it with the minimum movement possible before striking the boy in the stomach with the back of his tail.

The impact forced the air out of Midoriya's lungs.

His eyes rolled slightly backward.

And finally, the green-haired boy collapsed unconscious on the ground, the electricity around him fading completely.

At that same moment, Mewtwo turned his head slightly toward the side.

Bakugo was already rushing toward him again.

Despite the beating, despite being thrown around multiple times, the blonde boy still attacked head on without hesitation, explosions propelling him forward with rage written all over his face.

"DIEEEEEE!" yelled Bakugo as he launched himself directly at Mewtwo.

Mewtwo simply sighed.

With one swift movement, he spun his body and delivered a precise punch straight into Bakugo's stomach.

The blow landed perfectly.

Bakugo's eyes widened instantly as all the air left his body.

The explosions around his hands stopped immediately.

His body folded slightly from the pain before he crashed against the ground and fainted on the spot.

Silence followed.

Mewtwo stood there calmly, looking down at the two unconscious boys laying on the destroyed training field.

Then, slowly, his glowing eyes shifted toward the bushes nearby.

"Are you going to stay hidden there forever?" exclaimed Mewtwo.

At that moment, the bushes moved.

And right after, All Might stepped out from behind them with a semi-serious expression on his face.

"Young Raiden," exclaimed the hero, "I'm grateful for the pointers you gave the kids, however, don't you think you were a little too harsh? They only have a couple of weeks in the school."

Mewtwo tilted his head slightly at the words.

"mmm, I think it was okay," he answered calmly. "One needed guidance to not die using his own powers, and the other needed his arrogance broken down."

His tail moved slowly behind him as he continued.

"And both things needed to happen quickly. The more we wait, the more dangerous it becomes for both of them. One could become self-destructive, and the other could end up overestimating his own abilities."

Mewtwo then glanced at the unconscious pair once more.

"And also," he added casually, "I can heal them."

At that moment, his eyes glowed softly.

Gentle blue energy flowed from his hands as he used Life Dew on both boys.

Immediately, the bruises on their bodies started disappearing. The swelling receded, cuts closed, and even their breathing stabilized almost instantly.

Within moments, both of them looked almost perfectly fine again, only unconscious from exhaustion.

Seeing this, All Might looked genuinely impressed.

"That healing ability really is incredible…" muttered the Symbol of Peace.

Mewtwo simply shrugged.

"Well, good night," exclaimed the psychic before slowly floating into the air.

With one final wave of his tail, he flew away toward the dorms, leaving behind the destroyed training ground, two unconscious first years, and one thoughtful All Might silently watching him disappear into the night sky.

Inside the dorms, the entire 3-A class was scattered around the common area chatting among themselves. Some were studying, others were watching television, and a few simply relaxed after the long day of training. The atmosphere was calm, warm even, the kind that only appeared late at night when everyone was already too tired to keep up appearances.

Near the entrance stairs, Mirio Togata was drinking tea together with Nejire Hado. The two of them were casually talking when suddenly they noticed a familiar glow descending from above the dorm building.

Mewtwo slowly floated down from the sky before landing softly outside the entrance. A second later, the psychic aura faded around his body.

The moment they saw him, both of them waved.

"You are late today," exclaimed Mirio with curiosity. "What happened?"

"Ooh, I went to a church," exclaimed Mewtwo casually as the light around his body disappeared and he returned to his human form.

"A church?" exclaimed Nejire immediately, jumping from her seat with sparkling eyes. "Nee, nee, I didn't know that about you. Are you religious?"

"Oh no, no, it's not like that," replied Raiden while shaking his head. "Actually, I met someone I saved a long time ago, from the first incident in the convenience store years ago. She works there now. She invited me after we met again by coincidence."

At that moment, both Mirio and Nejire looked genuinely surprised.

"What are the odds of that?" muttered Mirio.

"Pretty absurd honestly," admitted Raiden before continuing. "Anyway, the place was nice, really nice. The priest there takes care of a lot of children alongside volunteers, and honestly… it felt peaceful."

For a brief second, his expression softened.

"The kids there knew all of us already," he added with a small laugh. "Apparently they watch hero news all the time. Some of them want to become heroes too, so I thought maybe someday we could all visit them together. I think they would like that a lot."

Nejire immediately clasped her hands together excitedly.

"I like the idea!" she exclaimed without hesitation. "We could go during recess, or maybe during the weekend!"

Mirio nodded in agreement while taking another sip of tea.

"Yeah, sounds fun honestly. Also good practice for public interaction."

"Public interaction?" repeated Raiden with a deadpan face. "You mean babysitting."

"That too," laughed Mirio.

At that moment, Raiden suddenly looked around the dorm common room.

"Now that I think about it… where is Tamaki?" he asked while glancing from side to side.

Mirio and Nejire exchanged a look.

"Oh," exclaimed Mirio casually. "He's on a date."

"I see… on a date…" replied Raiden naturally while nodding absentmindedly.

Then he froze.

The words finally processed inside his brain.

"…wait."

Raiden slowly turned his head toward Mirio.

"Wait, wait, wait," exclaimed Raiden in disbelief. "What do you mean by a date!?"

Nejire innocently tilted her head.

"Ooh, yeah. A girl from another school asked him out," she answered casually.

For a couple of seconds, Raiden simply stared at them with complete shock.

"…Tamaki?" he asked again, like he needed confirmation the world still made sense.

"Yes," replied Mirio while trying not to laugh.

"He went on a date before any of us?" exclaimed Raiden with pure disbelief. "Are you joking!?"

"Hahahahaha, we had the exact same reaction when he told us," laughed Mirio Togata while holding his stomach.

"I wanted to follow him," added Nejire Hado from the side without even trying to hide it. "But Mirio said no."

"Well, of course I said no," replied Mirio immediately. "It's private. I wouldn't like it if someone followed me during a date, especially if it was one of you three. It would be awkward."

He paused for a second before adding with a small smile.

"And honestly, I'm pretty sure we would notice if someone was following us anyway."

Raiden thought about it for a moment and slowly nodded.

Mirio had a point.

Even him, with his current senses, could immediately notice if someone followed him for long enough. He might not discern exactly who it was at first, but he would definitely feel it. His instincts had become too sharp after years of patrols and fighting villains.

And if that happened during a date…

Yeah, that would completely ruin the mood.

"Fair enough," muttered Raiden.

"Nee, nee," suddenly said Nejire while taking another sip of her tea. "What were you doing anyway? I noticed you used your power earlier. Were you training?"

"Ooh, no no," replied Raiden casually as he sat down between both of them. "I found some first year students training outside, so I healed them first and then taught them a couple of things."

As he spoke, he casually grabbed Nejire's mug and took a sip from it.

The moment the tea touched his tongue, his face twitched slightly.

It was absurdly sweet.

Way too sweet.

"How can you drink this?" he asked with genuine concern.

Nejire gasped dramatically and snatched the mug back.

"It's perfect!"

"It tastes like melted sugar."

"It is melted sugar."

Mirio burst out laughing at the interaction.

"Ooh," continued Nejire while pointing at him accusingly. "So you bullied first year students. That's pretty mean, you know?"

"Well… yeah, pretty much," admitted Raiden shamelessly. "But they learned a couple of useful things."

He then grabbed Mirio's mug this time and took a sip.

Immediately, his expression changed again.

"…And this tastes like medicine."

Mirio looked offended.

"It's proper tea."

"It's bitter water."

After tasting both drinks one after another, Raiden couldn't help but think about that old children's tale with the three bears.

One tea was absurdly sweet.

The other absurdly bitter.

Neither of them knew balance.

With a sigh, Raiden finally stood up.

"I'm making my own."

A couple of minutes later he returned with his own mug, this one much more balanced. Slightly bitter, but with just enough sweetness to enhance the flavor instead of murdering it.

"Finally," he muttered proudly after tasting it.

The three of them continued chatting peacefully through the night. Sometimes they joked about the new first years, other times they talked about patrols, hero work, or random things that happened during the day.

The dorms slowly became quieter as more students went to sleep.

Before they noticed, it was already well past 23:00.

And then, finally, the person they were waiting for appeared.

Tamaki Amajiki entered the dorm building quietly, wearing his hoodie over his head.

The moment he noticed the three of them sitting there waiting, he immediately froze.

Then, without saying a word, he slowly tried to walk past them while covering part of his face with the hoodie.

Unfortunately for him, escape was impossible.

Mirio grabbed one arm.

Nejire grabbed the other.

Raiden pushed a mug of hot chocolate directly into his hands.

A second later, Tamaki was already sitting between them against his will.

The three of them leaned forward simultaneously.

"Well?" they asked at the exact same time.

Tamaki shrank a little under the pressure.

"…It was good," he answered timidly. "Fun… it went well."

The three of them stared at him silently.

Then they leaned even closer.

"Aaaand?" they asked again in perfect synchronization.

Tamaki looked like he wanted to disappear from existence.

"Well…" he muttered while hiding deeper inside the hoodie. "We are going to have another date."

The three of them immediately widened their eyes.

"Actually…" continued Tamaki awkwardly, "…next week."

Silence filled the room for exactly one second.

Then Nejire screamed in excitement.

Mirio started clapping loudly.

And Raiden looked personally betrayed by reality itself.

"Impossible," muttered Raiden dramatically. "Tamaki really got game before the rest of us…"
