I returned to the Grand Cathedral. The clergy on the platform looked completely bewildered, and the crowd was murmuring loudly. When the crowd saw that I returned, they slowly fell silent again.
"Your holy war is over!" I announced to the crowd.
Then I turned to the Grand Priest's men.
"Your Grand Priest is on top of that mountain." I said, pointing toward the distant peak. "If you leave now, you might be able to rescue him before he freezes to death. But I wouldn't recommend it. He plans to have you all killed for failing him."
The clergy lowered their heads in grim understanding.
"As reparations, I will take whatever I want from your cathedral." I continued. "Don't try to stop me."
For one, I want to take their gold to make sure they can't hire mercenaries or pay an army's wages. But I'm sure there's also a library in the cathedral. I want their books way more than I want their gold. I want to know more about the goddess they worship.
