"Miyako," Shisui said, getting her attention as they made their way towards their home.
"What is it, Shisui?" Miyako replied, giving him a sideways glance as they walked.
"Are you ok?" Shisui asked, a bit worried, surprising Miyako.
"I am. What with the question and the tone?" Miyako asked, looking at Shisui.
"You and Naruto were looking like you would be at each other's throats in the beginning, and suddenly, you two seemed to be old friends. What was that about?" Shisui asked, making Miyako sigh.
"You know how I feel about the village and its governing body." Miyako started while Shisui listened.
….
Shisui knew how Miyako felt about the village.
While he felt warmth and a sense of belonging in the village, she didn't feel any of that. Ever since their parents' death, she looked at anything from the village with suspicion while keeping them at arm's length. This increased with the treatment that Uchiha received.
While Shusui viewed and believed that their parents gave their lives for the betterment of the village. Miyako didn't see it that way.
Their grandfather was said to have died in mysterious circumstances, and their parents too, without any details about the missions leading to their demise or their remains retrieved.
In addition to that, the treatment the Uchiha received intensified to a great degree after the Kyuubi attack.
This led to the Uchiha being more divided than before. One side wants the path of blood and getting what they think they deserve by force, while the other side wants the so-called peaceful solution by appeasing Konoha's higher-ups.
While Shisui leaned towards the peaceful side, Miyako didn't lean towards any, even with each side wanting her to support them.
While the situation is slowly getting better now, it hasn't changed the way Miyako sees things.
So, imagine her surprise and wariness when she saw the Naruto Senju under the same roof she was under.
While Mikoto did inform her that she was receiving other guests for lunch, the thought of one of them being the Senju heir didn't cross Miyako's mind.
What she knew about Naruto was that he was Tsunade Senju's son, the fourth student of the Third Hokage, a chunin at eight, and a Jonin before his age peers even graduated from the Academy. An S-ranked Shinobi at the age of twelve and the Kyuubi's Jinchuuriki.
A monstrous young talent that was in the center of the Hokage circle. The great-grandson of the first Hokage, the great-grandnephew of the second Hokage, and the student of the third Hokage.
And yet, she met him in the home of the Uchiha clan head, of all places.
….
"So I was just surprised to see him in there, Shisui." Miyako continued
"You shouldn't be. Naruto is close to Mikoto-san and her family. I don't know how they got to know each other, but they are close. It should be widely known in the clan even though some don't seem to like it." Shisui replied
"He seems like a good person," Miyako said.
The way Naruto looked at her wasn't the usual wary look she gets from the Konoha populace for being a Uchiha; he didn't look stunned like how many others look when they see a pretty face, and he didn't look at her with a lustful gaze like many others, even some from her clan, looked at her.
He looked at her with the look that a shinobi looks at an unknown shinobi. A look that held a measuring gaze at who was in front of him. She did the same.
She softened a bit only when she got to know how close and nice the young man is to Mikoto, a woman that Miyako sees as an older sister that she loves dearly. Making Naruto a good acquaintance from the first time meeting him. That is saying a lot about coming from a young woman who only has a handful of close people in her life.
"Oh, he is great company and one powerful shinobi too. We sparred multiple times since meeting him, which always ended with a stalemate, no matter how destructive we became. And the funny thing is, I think he hadn't gone all out once, not even close." Shisui said with a small smile.
"Is that so?" Miyako said with slight surprise in her voice. She knew who her little brother was. Such a statement coming from Shisui of the body flicker can't be taken lightly.
"Yes. As a matter of fact, I am meeting him and Itachi tomorrow morning to train together. You can join us if you want, since you are free tomorrow. I tell you, you won't regret it." Shisui offered a wider smile.
"I would think about it," Miyako replied as they reached their home's front door.
…
Hours later. Dinner time in the Senju compound;
"So, you had lunch with Mikoto. Anything interesting happened?" Tsunade asked as she looked up from her food.
She, along with Shizune and Akari, returned home from the hospital half an hour ago, and now they were all having dinner with Naruto and the little ones.
When the little ones were asked how their day went, they were very vocal about the fun they had, where they went, and what they got to eat.
"Nothing much. She had other guests for lunch. Shisui and his older sister, Miyako." Naruto said, making Tsunade pause a bit.
"Miyako?" Tsunade asked, unfamiliar with the person with that Name.
"Miyako Uchiha. I don't know much about her, as I just got to know about her today, and our first meeting was… interesting. She is a jonin with a chakra capacity higher than most jonin I've met, which is weird since I haven't met or heard of her before." Naruto said as he kept eating
Tsunade just stayed silent as she continued to eat, filing the name Miyako to the back of her mind, intending to look into it later.
"There is something I need to tell you," Tsunade said, making Naruto pause eating and look at his mother.
"Shizune and I will be leaving tomorrow morning and going to the fire capital. A request came from the Daimyo to go and see him, as his health seems to be deteriorating recently." Tsunade said, surprising Naruto and Akari.
"How long will you be gone for?" Naruto asked
"A few days, a week tops," Tsunade replied
"Want me to come with you?" Naruto offered
"No need. And you are off duty to rest, so take care of yourself, and we will be fine." Tsunade replied
To be continued.
