In the real beginnings of the Lion Race, males did not act alone. They rarely did.
In the wilderness, the males, the kings of their prides, were often accompanied by the females, the consorts.
That was how it was supposed to be, and that was how it had always been. Right from the very beginning of their history, the lions had never known a day of isolation from the pride dynamic.
Sure, there had been a few instances of unfairness scattered around the Feline races, and it had been done intentionally, but the felines all found ways to compensate.
The cats, starting as one of the weakest feline races, learned to infiltrate and leech off the scraps of other more developed races. They had crawled through the leftovers of various masters despite being the holders of freedom.
Although they eventually learned to live beyond such means after many of them grew stronger, they never forgot it.
