Jade watched Freya quietly. His first instinct was to stop her. This was exactly what he had been worried about.
The people in this world were not supposed to become too deeply involved with them. They were temporary intruders here, and eventually, they would have to leave. No matter how similar this world appeared to Earth, it was not their home.
Freya was not supposed to forget that.
Jade opened his mouth. Freya, don't get too attached. The words nearly came out.
But then Freya giggled again after another message appeared on her screen. Her entire expression brightened.
It was such a small thing. Yet Jade suddenly found himself unable to say anything.
