Katherine walked confidently into her favourite luxury boutique. Palms. She was a regular, and the sales assistants recognised her immediately.
"Welcome, ma'am. Would you like to see the latest evening gown?
Katherina glanced at her and nodded.
The sales girl led her towards a row of evening gowns.
Katherine's eyes landed on the dark-green gown decorated with tiny diamonds. She ran her finger across the fabric.
"This one."
"Would you like to try it on, ma'am?"
She shook her head.
"No need. And add the other collections that came with it."
The salesgirl smiled at her and packed everything.
"Ma'am, I'll need your card."
Katherine took out her card and handed it to her while she looked at the other clothes.
"Umm, ma'am?" The salesgirl called.
"What?"
"Your card was declined."
Katherine's smile vanished.
"What do you mean it was declined? Is this some kind of prank? Try again."
"The salesgirl bowed her head and tried again, but the machine read declined.
"W... why don't we try another card?" she suggested.
Katherine shot a glare at her. Her jaw tightened.
"Are you saying I'm poor?"
"N.. no. I -"
"Forget it," Katherine said while stomping out of the shop.
- Albert's office
Files scattered on the floor and across his desk. These past few weeks have been a nightmare for him and his hospital. Police and the press were surrounding both his hospital and his house.
This was getting out of hand. He had made sure none of his illegal business could slip away, but ever since he found out about the copied files. His control cracked.
The investigation has been going on, and he'd lost 90% of his investors.
"Those fuckers."
His phone kept vibrating in his pocket.
It could be anyone. He'd been receiving unknown numbers and threats.
He took his phone out, ready to throw it, but he paused when he saw the caller.
"Why can't you die like your son?" he mumbled before picking up
"Albert, there's no money in my account. Did you freeze my account? Do you know the humiliation I went through today?"
"What do you mean, there's no money in your account. I already gave you money."
"Then where the fuck is it?"
His fingers tightened around his phone. He took a deep breath.
"I'd call you back."
"Albert -"
He hung up and checked his account. The office became blurry.
"This can't be happening. Where is the money?"
Albert accessed his account and checked the illegal account he had, hidden by an app.
"How- where is the money? No one knows about this account."
His phone rang in his hand.
"What?"
" We found the mastermind."
"Who is it?"
"Avery. She's the wife of Alexander Gibson."
"That shit is married?"
"Her mother was one of the patients in our hospital."
Albert gritted his teeth.
"We'd deal with that later. For now, Let's focus on what we have. Frame Katherine. Let the blame fall on her. Let her be the master mind of everything going on. Get her fingerprints on any illegal shit I did."
