Albert kicked the desk and turned to his assistant.
"What do you mean they're investigating? Those patients died years ago. I have nothing to do with that!"
"I'm working on it, sir. But their families claim they have proof."
He gritted his teeth and dismissed his assistant. Once the door was shut, Albert flopped on his chair.
"This can't be happening. How can they have evidence - wait?"
Albert logged into his computer. His fingers wavered.
"The file. The file has been copied. How?"

Avery smiled at the notification that popped up. Things were going according to plan. She glanced at Alex, who wasn't far from her. She knew he'd helped move her plan forward, but she was going to wait for him to say it.
Her voice vibrated in her hand.
She glanced down.
A notification lit up the screen.
Avery froze.
She stood up, making Alex look at her.
"What happened?"
Avery looked at him with watery eyes.
"M..my mom. My mom is awake."
Alex jolted from his seat.
"Really?"
Avery nodded at him. He walked towards her and hugged her.
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Finally.
Finally, her mother is awake.
Avery chuckled as she buried her face in his chest.
_
Avery bolted out of the car the moment it stopped in front of the house.
"Where is she?" she asked Winston, the butler.
"She's in the guest bedroom"
"Careful, Avery! You might fall!"
She barely heard him.
She raced upstairs and threw the bedroom door open.
"M... Mom"
Aurora turned her head towards the door.
"Avery," she said with a choked voice.
Avery threw herself on her.
"Mom. I'm so happy you're awake. I- I thought, I thought I lost you."
Aurora smiled and hugged her tightly.
Avery pulled back and cupped Aurora's face in both hands, almost as though she needed to make sure she was really there.
Aurora smiled through her own tears.
Avery let out a broken laugh,
Her mother is finally awake.
