"Arrgh!" Lyra groaned recalling her words to the Madam earlier. She didn't understand why these people wanted to make things hard for her. First, it was the son, now the mother. How in the world was she supposed to make that ice cold man love her? She had no charm and she wasn't the kind of woman someone like him would go for.
She had agreed to the offer on a condition. After all,the Madam had promised she'll do anything. Lyra didn't want to look desperate but the offer was tempting. The Madam agreed to help her family in every way possible. She would sponsor her brothers' education, she would create job opportunities for her parents. She would take them out of poverty just so Lyra could make her son fall in love with her.
Lyra sighed and picked up the marriage contract file on her bed. It wasn't a terrible offer, all she had to do was make the cold man love her. But first, she had to sign the marriage contract. After reading it once more, she took a pen and signed it. This was for her family, she consoled herself. Everything would be fine. But her heart didn't agree with her. What if something goes wrong or what if he finds out. She felt uneasy. 'I feel like I'm going to regret this for sure. ' she thought to herself. It's fine, he won't kill you. This was an offer from his mother and you're doing it for your family. She shook away every thought from her mind as she was developing a headache.
She dropped the contract aside and got down from her bed. She left the room to find something else she could occupy herself with. Ever since she arrived the mansion, she had only been indoors so she decided to take a stroll outside the house. Getting outside, she looked around the big compound wondering where to start from. With a shrug, she sauntered to the back of the mansion.
Soon, she set her eyes on the wide pool. Her eyes lit up immediately at the sight. The water looked so clear and cool, it reminded her of the young master's eyes. She shook her head shaking off any thought of the cold man. She was tempted to dive in but she was scared someone might see her and she had no swim wear. She took off her slippers and sat on the pavement deeping her legs into the water. She enjoyed the cool feeling of her legs in the water and wanted to feel it all over her. She decided to just swim. She looked around to check if someone was watching and when she was sure she was alone,she got up and took off her clothes leaving on just her bra and panties. Without a second thought, she jumped into the pool. Lyra had always been a good swimmer and she swam with so much excitement.
She was so deep into the fun she was having that she didn't notice a figure that just walked in. "Hey." She heard a manly voice and she quickly went under the water. She knew she had been caught but she couldn't bring herself to walk out of the pool, also, she was only on her underwear and the person was a man. She couldn't let him see her like that. From under the water, she saw him squat and look inside with worried eyes. She felt guilty and took her heard out with the rest of her body still in the water. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have come here, the water was just so tempting I couldn't help myself. I'll get out right away, I just need you to pass me my clothes and turn around, please. " She pleaded with the guy immediately and he chuckled.
He picked up her clothes and handed them to her. She took them quickly and waited for him to turn around before stepping out of the pool. She quickly wore them on her wet underwear. She cleared her throat to get his attention. He turned to face her with a smile. "You must be new here. " He asked more like a statement and Lyra nodded. "Well then, hi. I'm Leo, the pool boy and there's no need to worry or be scared. I don't bite, you can use the pool whenever you feel like, but not when the bosses are using it " He introduced himself and explained to her. Lyra exhaled in relief. She initially thought she was dead meat.
She shook off her nervousness and studied the man before her. He had auburn hair and dark eyes. He wore a sweatshirt and black pants. He wasn't that muscular but he was definitely a man that turned eyes. "I'm Lyra." She introduced herself as well. "Beautiful name. A new maid?" He asked her and she replied with a bit of sarcasm. "I'm new alright." and they both chuckled. " I should probably go change. " She said nervously just remembering she was wet. " Yeah, probably." He replied still smiling and she laughed and turned around to leave. "Catch you later? " He asked loudly and she replied with the same tone. "Sure."
As soon as she was out of his sight, she ran into the house like she was being chased. Getting to her room, she took off her wet clothes and underwear and changed into dry and comfortable ones. She then fell on her bed and smiled recalling the scene from some minutes ago. "Wow" she whispered to herself as her thoughts circled around the pool boy, Leo. There's actually an handsome guy that's not so cold. She thought comparing Leo to the boss. She got up and opened the drawer by her side and took out a pack of pencils and a drawing book. In no time, she began to draw. She decided to draw the cold boss and the pool boy and compare them. The thought made her chuckle. "You're so bold Lyra. Comparing the Boss to a pool boy is a big crime." She muttered to her self but didn't stop.
An hour passed and she heard a knock on her door. She put down the book and pencil and got up to open the door. It was butler Brooks. "Sorry for disturbing you Miss Levine but the young master is back and he wants you in his study." He passed the order. Lyra sighed. What now? She thought. "I'll go to him right away." She said to Butler Brooks who bowed slightly and turned to leave. She went back into her room and took the file she signed and headed to his study at the end of the corridor. She knocked on the door and it was opened by his PA, Caleb. She slowly walked in and met him sitting on his chair behind the desk. "Have you signed?" He asked not sparing her a look. Lyra sighed. Was she really going to make this man fall for her? 'You'll fail for sure.' She squealed inside. " Yes sir. " She replied him and dropped the file on his table. " You can leave. " He simply said but Lyra remained standing. At that moment, he looked up at her with narrowed eyes, probably wondering why she still stood. " I have a request sir." She told him and he nodded his head slightly with a visible smirk on his face. She continued with a stutter. "C, can I..., Can I still work as a maid here?" She finally asked and she heard him scoff. " No. " He said without a second thought. " But why? " She asked adamantly. " I don't owe you an explanation. " His voice sent chills down her spine. " I want to work sir. I can't sit idol all day. I'll do any work, please. " She pleaded with him but got no reply from him. " Um, Miss Levine. How about we have this conversation some other day, the boss is tired and would like to rest. " Caleb said leading her out of the study. Lyra felt deprived but then, she could do nothing. She accepted her fate and stormed out of the room...
