Chapter 275 - Self Luck, All Living Beings Luck

Lo Jik stood inside a golden lump of light. His expression was dignified as this lump of light was extremely wondrous. It was a supreme true inheritance! While inside this lump of light, Lo Jik received a greater understanding of luck path, its mortal recipes, immortal recipes, killer moves, formations, theories, and more. In this lump of light floated countless mortal gu worms.

This supreme true inheritance even boasted immortal gu worms, or so Lo Jik was made aware of, but his trait could not reproduce immortal gu worms. It was simply impossible!

That, however, did not matter.

Luck path…

Luck path! It was an extremely breathtaking sensation. This inheritance did not dispense information through ordinary information path gu worms. Instead, Lo Jik enjoyed the benefit of directly memorizing all this information. Ordinary gu master would need years to digest so much luck path foundation, but Lo Jik gulped all of it down greedily. His luck path great grandmaster attainment was like a shriveled sponge-like plant. It had a humongous size but lacked this nourishment. Consuming it all did not become a burden on Lo Jik. Instead, this plant inflated exponentially. It produced lush leaves and fruits, and it expanded wildly. It grew from a shriveled plant to an ancient tree filled with mystical aura in an instant!

Indeed, Lo Jik only needed to view these luck path research and theories for a moment before understanding their profundities.

After a while, the light around Lo Jik vanished as he stored all the luck path mortal gu worms he obtained. They were all rank 5 and extremely precious!

'Giant Sun, oh, Giant Sun. Who could have known luck path to be so comprehensive for a path that was never spread out?'

Lo Jik once again felt small compared to a venerable's talent. He couldn't help but admire such monsters. He wanted to be like them—surpass them!

In history, Giant Sun Immortal Venerable was always lucky. Even his most troublesome disasters ended up being great blessings in disguise. The source of all these fortuitous encounters was none other than luck path!

'Giant Sun's entire luck path and cultivation journey can be summarized into three parts: Self Luck, All Living Beings Luck, and Heaven and Earth Luck. He only developed Heaven and Earth Luck after becoming his era's immortal venerable. As for All Living Beings Luck…'

'It contains the style and essence of human path. To think Giant Sun was inspired by human path to establish this aspect of luck path. Not only is it great for my luck path foundation, but it's even more important for my human path foundation!'

According to All Living Beings Luck, every living creature has a form of luck. What was luck?

Luck was a variable!

If this variable was disadvantageous, it would be called a bad luck.

If this variable was advantageous, it would be called a good luck.

All Living Beings Luck formed ways of influencing the luck of others around the user. The most common method was to supplant one's own luck using others' luck! It was to steal someone else's luck, to snatch someone else's right to fortune! Lo Jik couldn't help but sigh endlessly as he revisited the inheritance again.

Like any true inheritance, this one had a supreme treasure.

Rank 8 Fortune Rivalling Heaven Immortal Gu Worm!

This was one of Giant Sun's proudest creation and the epitome of All Living Beings Luck true inheritance. As the name suggested, Fortune Rivalling Heaven Immortal Gu granted the user a heaven-defying luck. It was a one-time expendable gu worm that functioned through continuously absorbing luck of all the living beings around the user. Those who had ill-intentions towards someone with fortune rivalling heaven would encounter endless trouble. Those who sided with such a gu master will receive this luck's protection and even gain many benefits. Even disasters would oftentimes side with the gu master and become a part of the gu master's foundation!

Lo Jik wanted it.

Lo Jik wanted it so much!

'But a rank 8 immortal gu worm?' He smiled and shook his head. Even with Old Man Desolate, Lo Jik was not confident in acquiring enough materials for a rank 8 immortal gu much less refine it.

Why did Immemorial Desolate Immortal focus on core beasts with an ambition of using such beasts instead of gu worms?

Why did the grotto-heaven not possess a single rank 8 immortal gu worm?

Because rank 8 immortal gu worms were extremely challenging to refine! A rank 8 old monster could bankrupt themselves and still not cover 30% of the cost of refining a rank 8 immortal gu, and that was Lo Jik's more generous estimation!

'Furthermore, Giant Sun did not leave an actual recipe for the immortal gu worm.'

There were several rank 6 and 7 immortal gu recipes. Because the inheritance provided the use of immortal gu worms it contained and how to use it, Lo Jik knew which luck path immortal gu already existed and could focus on refining the other immortal gu worms. However, for rank 8 Fortune Rivalling Heaven, Giant Sun only left a partial recipe that involved refining the immortal gu worm using a strange material—the user of Fortune Rivalling Heaven.

It was a method of refining the gu through the effects of Fortune Rivalling Heaven on the previous gu master.

But…

'Where would I even find such a material? Besides, the inheritance already has this rank 8 supreme treasure. Even if I try, I will only fail in refining this immortal gu worm.'

'As for this joke of a recipe…' Lo Jik smiled coldly. Using this and the other luck path inheritance, could he not deduce a proper recipe for Fortune Rivalling Heaven? This inheritance was only meant as a direction. To his pleasant surprise, it also contained the essence of human path, allowing Lo Jik to have many great ideas!

And just because certain immortal gu worms existed did not mean Lo Jik could not refine mortal variants for these gu worms and utilize them in killer moves.

'This inheritance also had information about Disaster Kittens and Disaster Pearls among other luck path materials.' This was an extremely great wealth.

'But this isn't all.'

Lo Jik rested his mind for a day and night. Of course, just because he was resting his mind did not mean his body needed to rest. He visited Hu Mei Er. Much to the latter's disappointment, she only received great tips about cultivating luck path that would have many gu immortal's turn green with envy.

Lucky Gambler clone also started refining several mortal recipes right away. While he obtained several mortal gu worms, it would take a lot more to compensate for the eventual losses when researching killer moves and practicing them. The quicker Lo Jik developed these luck path gu worms, the better.

Encountering that immemorial snake was a terrifying warning that his life was constantly at risk in the gu world.

'Finally, you three…'

Lo Jik observed a few East Window Gu Worms. He did not go through all the information path gu worms he received from his trait. Instead, he let his clones dive through them until they found these peculiar true inheritances for Lo Jik to peruse.

'As I suspected, this was Long Hair True Inheritance… no, to be exact, this was inheritance from Lang Ya Blessed Land. The inheritance from this blessed land contains information about innumerable immortal and mortal materials, countless mortal gu recipes, and hundreds of immortal gu recipes! Lang Ya also possessed three true inheritances.'

Long Hair True Inheritance.

Giant Sun True Inheritance.

Thieving Heaven True Inheritance.

Lo Jik obtained several inheritances at once unlike the other golden achievement's inheritance that only provided All Living Beings Luck true inheritance because several outstanding rank 5 luck path gu worms accompanied the latter!

Since Lo Jik's refinement and theft path attainments were still at the level of a grandmaster, he focused on Giant Sun's true inheritance. Not only could he digest this gain quicker, he would also later use these gu worms as a connection against Lang Ya Blessed Land.

The moment Lo Jik found out that Lang Ya Blessed Land still existed… well, he had to target it.

But now wasn't the time for it. He eagerly dived into another one of Giant Sun Immortal Venerable's true inheritances and smiled with fascination.

'This is Self Luck true inheritance.'

Self Luck, All Living Beings Luck, and Heaven and Earth Luck were established one after another.

Self Luck was Giant Sun Immortal Venerable's first proper luck path foundation, where he shared his understanding of luck path at a deeper level—its origins, to be precise.

Lo Jik spent several hours comprehending this luck while learning a lot of secrets, many of which were open, and many of which were only discovered and built upon by the creator of this luck path inheritance.

What was fate?

Giant Sun Immortal Venerable asked this question at the beginning of this Self Luck inheritance. The answer wasn't something as simple and surmisable as negative and positive variations.

In the next sentence, Giant Sun Immortal Venerable answered this rhetorical question in a way that shook Lo Jik.

To discuss luck, one must talk about fate!

There was no luck path before Red Lotus Demon Venerable.

Lo Jik glimpsed. Red Lotus Demon Venerable was the supreme time path gu immortal of his era and the most mysterious of the venerables. One might consider other venerables hidden and sneaky with their theft, painting, and luck paths. But in reality, Lo Jik knew the least about Red Lotus Demon Venerable. There was almost no record of him in Spirit Affinity House except the fact that he existed.

Meanwhile, rumors of luck and painting path already existed in Treasure Yellow Heaven. There were also a few theft path gu immortals in the gu world.

Compared to them, nobody had seen or heard even a single thing about Red Lotus Demon Venerable.

And fate? Lo Jik was perplexed. The first mention of fate was in <>. It was not some exaggerated tale because the Love Gu Worm resting on his shoulder was the best evidence of the fact that such a mighty gu worm exists! Somewhere, it does!

But why would Giant Sun Immortal Venerable mention these two entities? From his tone, Lo Jik perceived a great loathing for fate and immense admiration towards Red Lotus Demon Venerable.

Lo Jik's pulse quickened as he was almost scared of moving on for some reason.

For this brief moment, studying Self Luck inheritance was no longer about comprehending luck path but uncovering an ancient secret.

He unconsciously recalled the nuggets of truth he inherited through that dream path inheritance, the one that propelled his dream path attainment from quasi-grandmaster to great grandmaster.

Lo Jik read the next sentence with a bated breath.

A peculiar change happened to the world after Red Lotus Demon Venerable damaged Fate Gu.

Lo Jik paused.

He read it again. And then another time. First, he was flabbergasted. Then, he frowned. Lastly, something clicked in his mind. All these intuitions and premonitions did not appear in Lo Jik's mind for no reason. He did not idly recall the information from that dream inheritance.

He was truly shaken.

Fate Gu was damaged.

What did it mean?

It meant, Fate Gu, without a shadow of doubt, was real. Not only was it a real entity, but it was a fearsome one, too! Lo Jik could finally connect some dots and look beyond the veil of strings connecting everyone under a mysterious force, and what looked back at Lo Jik did not fill him with great confidence.

Gulping, Lo Jik continued with this inheritance.

Giant Sun Immortal Venerable did not expand on Red Lotus Demon Venerable's history and focused on luck path.

A peculiar change happened to the world after Red Lotus Demon Venerable damaged Fate Gu.

People first discovered luck path from a certain component of their human qi—luck.

Because heaven, earth, and human qi needed to be balanced to become a gu immortal, the more human qi a gu master accumulated, the higher the grade of their immortal aperture after they succeeded in their immortal ascension.

Again, Lo Jik was a first-hand example of this fact.

Therefore, by placing importance on human qi, people started to research on luck.

Soon they found traces of this luck.

After Fate Gu got damaged by Red Lotus Demon Venerable, the paths of all beings were no longer fixed and constant, changes could occur to a certain limit.

People found that luck and this deviation from fate had a profound but direct relation.

But what was the connection?

Lo Jik mulled over Giant Sun Immortal Venerable's answer to his previous question. Not only did he answer what was fate, but he actually used fate to describe the components and aspect of luck.

He left behind this answer: Fate is constant while luck is variable!

Giant Sun did not go over these details in his All Living Beings Luck inheritance. That inheritance described luck of every living being in positive and negative variables, and how to manipulate these variables. But in Self Luck inheritance, Lo Jik realized a greater component of human essence and subsequently, the purpose that drove Giant Sun Immortal Venerable to establish luck path!

Luck path was derived from qi path, but human path played a significant role. It was not only created to improve one's foundation, but to also undermine the influence of fate!

For a normal person, what was good luck?

Good luck was positive variable for oneself.

And what was bad luck?

Bad luck was a negative variable for oneself.

Within a person's human qi, if their luck was good, then this person would likely benefit.

Within a person's human qi, if their luck was bad, then this person would likely experience loss.

But regardless of good or bad luck, they were not part of fate.

Fate was constant, it was fixed, it would inevitably be experienced. But luck was a variable, it was merely a probability. The actual outcome would only be deiced after factoring in all the other possible influences.

If a person had bad luck but also possessed great strength and wisdom to turn the situation around, they could still achieve their goals or motives. Similarly, if a person had good luck but were too weak and stupid to make use of opportunities, they would fail.

Lo Jik slowly digested the introduction with a feeling of solemnity. Fate… he never truly understood its existence. By following Giant Sun's words, did it not mean that until Red Lotus Demon Venerable's era, everything was predestined?

If so…

'What even is the point of living such a life?' Lo Jik also inherently loathed such an idea. Who didn't want to be free? Even the slaves Lo Jik purchased must have loathed him. But would they still loathe him or fate if they found they were fated to be slaves?

'This also means Fate Gu still exists? It was injured by Red Lotus Demon Venerable. It has been a long time since then. Is it already healed?'

Lo Jik shook his head after a careful consideration.

'How could I still make use of luck path if Fate Gu was healed. Based on Giant Sun's words, the injuries Red Lotus Demon Venerable dealt were severe enough to cause a qualitative change in the gu world. The healing of Fate Gu would initiate another qualitative change. But nothing of the sort happened or was recorded by anyone.'

'Luck path was not spread, but it must have a great influence. Why else did I obtain a few luck path gu worms inside Reincarnation Battlefield? This is Paradise Earth's number one battlefield killer move left for Central Continent. Did he inspire the creation of luck path gu worms inside this killer move… or was it done by someone else?'

Lo Jik kept these questions in his mind for he knew the answer would not grace him anytime soon. Instead, he focused on the rest of the inheritance.

In subsequent portion of the inheritance, Giant Sun talked about sizes, colors, and shapes of different luck.

Some people had a lot of luck and some had very little.

Normally speaking, the higher one's cultivation level and deeper the foundation, the greater would be the luck.

The seven main colors of luck were black, grey, white, red, gold, azure, and purple. But there were also uncommon colors like pink or blood red.

Luck had all sorts of shapes and sizes. It varied greatly and could be very strange. Normal people usually had common and ordinary-shaped lucks. Meanwhile, geniuses and champions would have greater luck that came in much rarer appearances.

Where All Living Beings Luck had several methods of targeting someone else's luck and siphoning others' fortune for oneself, Self Luck taught different ways of manipulating and altering one's own luck.

The previous gu worm recipe, Shape Luck Gu, which Lo Jik traded with Old Man Lang Ya in Treasure Yellow Heaven, relied on a few other gu worms such as Peach Blossom Luck from All Living Beings Luck, to manipulate the shape of one's luck. There were also other luck path recipes in Self Luck inheritance such as Giant Sun's former lifebound vital gu, Dog Shit Luck Gu, Black Luck, White Luck, Grey Luck, Red Luck, Azure Luck, Purple Luck, Coffin Luck, and more.

Lo Jik continued and memorized the immortal gu recipes and several killer moves.

The greatest treasure of this inheritance were the recipes for Dog Shit Luck Immortal Gu and a luck path immortal gu house—Cooking Luck Pot!

But for Lo Jik, the surprising passages on Fate Gu and Red Lotus Demon Venerable were much more crucial because it helped him understand the gu world as a whole.

After resting for a while, Lo Jik first read Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable's inheritance. However, it left Lo Jik feeling disappointing. While the inheritance had the demon venerable's experiences in cultivating theft path, it lacked the usual recipes and such. Instead, it talked about an outstanding immortal gu worm. But this immortal gu worm clearly existed and was still in Lang Ya Blessed Land.

Lastly, Lo Jik started digesting Long Hair Inheritance while dealing with the other rewards.
