Wade raised his eyebrows and smiled. "Your information is really sharp—Morphing Gummies only appeared a week ago."
"Haha." Marchionne rubbed his hands together excitedly.
"How many Animagi are there in the entire wizarding world? And now there's a candy that lets people take on all sorts of animal forms. The moment it appeared, it caused quite a stir. I only heard about it from a few friends."
He gave Wade a half-reproachful look. "Wade, my dear Wade, what is our relationship? And yet you have such a good product, and I only find out about it an entire week later?"
"That's not fair," Wade said with a shake of his head and a smile. "Morphing Gummies are mainly Fred and George's invention. I just helped refine them a little, but it can't really be called 'my product.'"
"Fred and George?" Marchionne's eyes lit up. "Looks like Hogwarts is about to produce two more outstanding alchemists. I always knew those two had promise! Where are the twins? I need to talk to them about sales channels…"
As he spoke, he craned his neck toward the stands.
The Gryffindor students were easy to spot with their red-and-gold scarves and some were even wearing lion-shaped hats.
And in the midst of them, the red-haired twins were always the center of the liveliest crowd. It took Marchionne barely a moment to pick them out from among the throng.
He was just about to head over when Wade said, "I'd advise you to give up on that idea for now."
Marchionne froze, then realization dawned. His smile instantly stiffened.
He turned his head, and stared at Wade in disbelief. His lips trembled, and after a long pause he asked, his voice shaking:
"Which bastard tricked the twins away from me? I don't believe anyone could offer better terms than I can! And if they did, it's definitely a trap to swindle them! Don't fall for it!"
His expression, his eyes—it was like a lovesick woman staring at a faithless man.
Wade couldn't help but laugh. "You've got it wrong. There's no other business partner… Fred and George just plan to make it the signature product of their joke shop."
Marchionne: "…"
He felt a bit of relief, but also the deeper despair of realizing that when youthful dreams clash with hard profit, no amount of persuasion or monetary temptation is likely to change their minds.
His chances of securing the distribution rights for Morphing Gummies had grown even slimmer.
It was as if he had just lost a fortune in Galleons—Marchionne felt like scratching his heart out. But when he looked into Wade's concerned eyes, his mood miraculously improved.
The Weasley twins were eccentric geniuses who occasionally came up with brilliant ideas, but they were too playful and not diligent enough, wasting their talent.
Wade, however, was the true goldmine—capable of bringing him a steady stream of profit.
And given Wade's personality, he would only immerse himself in research, never bothering to open a shop and sell things himself.
Wade was also close with the Weasley brothers. If Marchionne fixated on persuading the twins to license Morphing Gummies, not only might he fail, but he could even sour his relationship with Wade.
In just a few short seconds, Marchionne's thoughts spun in circles. Once he had sorted out the balance of interests, the frustration in his chest eased. The corners of his mouth twitched unnaturally a few times before he finally forced a smile.
"Ah… I see… Well, it's good for young people to have dreams."
Suppressing his heartache, Marchionne said, "Where is their shop located? Perhaps I can still provide some support…"
"Actually," Wade replied with a smile, "their shop is still only a plan."
"Well then, once they've chosen a location, have them contact me," Marchionne said. "First-time shopkeepers without experience are bound to suffer losses."
Wade said, "Then I'll thank you on their behalf first."
Marchionne couldn't help but sigh. He leaned closer and whispered, "So… Wade, the Daydream Quill was half a year ago. Have you had any other interesting inventions lately?"
Seeing those sparkling eyes filled with longing, Wade almost felt softhearted—and strangely, even a twinge of guilt for not handing over Morphing Gummies to him.
His gaze swept across the stands, at the excited faces of the spectators, and suddenly an idea popped into his mind.
"I may not have a new invention, but I do have a money-making idea…"
Marchionne's eyes lit up as if someone had cast a Sunlight Charm on them. He immediately pressed, "What is it? Your ideas are always brilliant—tell me!"
Wade stroked his chin and thought for a moment. At first, the idea had flashed into his mind simply to console the disappointed Marchionne, but the more he considered it, the more feasible it seemed.
"I've always felt that there are too few forms of entertainment in the wizarding world. Wizards keep their distance from each other, and after leaving school, even relatives and friends rarely gather together."
Marchionne nodded. He personally thought it was natural for adults to keep their distance, but he didn't argue.
Wade went on: "The Quidditch World Cup can draw a hundred thousand spectators, the popularity of the Maze Game at Hogwarts, and the craze for streaming mirrors and magic dolls—all of that is just people trying to make life more fun."
Magic provided for nearly every material need. Most wizards lived without pressure. But because the wizarding world was closed off, and wizards were accustomed to living in isolation, they lacked entertainment, they lacked connection.
In other words: materially abundant, but spiritually deprived. With so few leisure and recreational activities, whenever something new appeared, it immediately caused a sensation.
Ordinary people had once been the same, but as Muggle society developed, countless games sprouted up like mushrooms after the rain. Billions of minds had designed who-knows-how-many fascinating ways to play.
Wade asked, "Marchionne, have you ever been to a Muggle amusement park?"
Marchionne hesitated, then said, "Of course I have. But those Ferris wheels, carousels, roller coasters… none of it felt that interesting."
Flying around on a broom could beat eighty percent of an amusement park's attractions. For a wizard, those places might feel novel the first time, but not enough to draw repeat visits.
With Muggles' massive population, their amusement parks could rely on endless streams of customers. But Marchionne had already calculated that building a wizard-only amusement park would be a losing venture.
Wade shook his head. "That's because the things Muggles find thrilling are far too ordinary for wizards. Wizards' thresholds are too high, so ordinary excitement doesn't bring pleasure."
"In that case, either you increase the level of stimulation, or you lower the individual's own tolerance."
As he organized his thoughts, he recalled Grindelwald's cat—the one that had once threatened him. Slowly, he said:
"Marchionne, would you be interested in developing a game called 'Adventures in Lilliput'?"
