Chapter 20 - New Arc Reactor

Both of them saw this scene, and Happy rubbed his eyes, unable to believe it.

Tony thought about everything that had just happened, including the way John left. 'How did he do it?'

A growing seed of curiosity sprouted in Tony's heart.

After John left, he found a secluded place to stop. Before he was completely sure, he didn't want to expose himself.

He took a taxi and returned home. Aunt Jenny had also returned from work. Uncle George was still sitting on the sofa, watching TV and reading the newspaper.

"The evening news reported that Tony Stark's return was supposed to be a day worth celebrating in the United States, but major news came out: 'Stark Industries will close the weapons development and production department.' This news surprised everyone!"

"Next, let's take a look at the detailed report from our on-site reporter!"

"Jenny, have you seen this? Tony Stark is going to close the weapons manufacturing department of Stark Industries. What do you think?" George put down the newspaper in his hand.

"Stark is crazy. A good weapons manufacturing company deciding not to make weapons anymore? Fortunately, we didn't buy his stock, or we would lose money!" Jenny replied.

John said, "No, Aunt Jenny, Uncle George, now is a good time to buy. The next time Stark Industries finds a new economic pillar, the price will definitely rise sharply!"

George looked at John with a smile. "John, you don't understand. Unless Stark restarts the weapons manufacturing department, the stock is going to plummet. Only fools will buy it!"

John looked at the two of them and smiled helplessly. He still had fifty thousand dollars on hand. Although it wasn't much, it was enough.

As far as money was concerned, John didn't have much desire. He could maintain his costs. According to his abilities, there were many ways to get money, easily and without unnecessary risks.

Most high-end metals were unsellable or sold at sky-high prices on the black market. Now that he was connected with Stark, this problem should be solved, and John felt relieved.

'Control Point: 77'

'Strength 15 Defense 19 Speed 9 Spirit 19'

'Skill: D-level metal control, D-level physical enhancement'

'Strengthening: Golden Eye (100%) Copper Skin (100%) Steel Bar (35%) Iron Bone (0%)'

'Derivative Technique: Destroying Golden Eyes (don't be fooled by any abilities, see through all illusions, enhance visual observation, metalize objects)'

'Don't Move the Golden Body (enhance great defense power, stand on the ground with both feet, you will have infinite physical strength, the body will recover faster, and will not be moved by external force)'

With the reinforcement of the steel bars getting higher and higher, his strength gradually increased.

A small fist, one punch, about two hundred and fifty kilograms of power, enough to break an ordinary person's thigh bone.

At the current rate, it might take two to three years to accumulate the control value to more than one hundred points. At the same time, the strengthening speed of the steel bars would inevitably be reduced.

Even though John spent a lot of time on cultivation, this speed still made him feel disheartened.

"Oh, I should have asked Tony for some high-quality metal!" John knocked his head.

"Aunt Jenny, please take a week off for me. I need to go to Los Angeles!"

"John, what do you want to do?" George put down the newspaper and walked over, asking curiously.

"Go to Tony Stark. I need his help with something!" John looked at his frowning Uncle George.

"No, no, John, you are already a big child. You're about to enter middle school, and the final exam is in two weeks. You can't run around now!" Aunt Jenny hurried out, wearing an apron with flour on her hands.

"Yes, George, listen to Jenny. We'll go out after the exam, okay? After the summer vacation, we'll accompany you for a few days, alright?"

Looking at the two expectantly, John sighed and laughed, "Okay, we'll go out after the exam!"

...

Three days later, Tony finally completed the manufacture of a new type of arc reactor in his basement. The top materials and technical methods were used, improving both power and safety, and the style was more beautiful.

Despite this, he still ran into some minor troubles.

Pepper was watching TV. It was showing an online channel mocking Stark Industries. Pepper frowned, thinking about how to solve this problem. Stark Industries' stock had fallen 47%, and the momentum was very bad.

The display phone on the desk rang, "Pepper, how big are your hands?"

"What? Why do you ask?"

"Come down here, I need you to do me a favor!"

Pepper came to the basement and saw Tony lying on a chair, his upper body exposed, with an inexplicable luminous object on his chest, which seemed to be inside Tony's body.

Her hurried pace slowed down unbelievably.

"Let me see your hands!"

Pepper raised her hands, and Tony was relieved when he saw them. "Oh! Great, they're really slender and small!"

Glancing at the brand-new reactor in his hand, Tony said, "I need you to do me a little favor!"

"Oh my God! Is this thing keeping you alive?" Pepper stood beside Tony, staring at the device on his chest.

"Yes, but this is an old antique. In the foreseeable future, I'll use this new one!" Tony looked at Pepper.

"I want to change this, but it's stuck!"

"What is stuck?"

"It's nothing, just a small obstacle. There's an exposed wire underneath!" Tony took the old reactor off his chest and pulled lightly, dislodging the bottom line connection.

Pepper's right hand trembled as she took it. "What am I supposed to do?"

"Put it aside, it's useless now!"

"Oh, my God!" Pepper said, looking at the device in her hand.

"I need you to reach in and take out the wire inside!"

"Is it safe to do this?" This was Pepper's biggest concern.

Tony pursed his lips, "In theory, it's safe. Just like a minor operation, as long as you don't let it touch the base, it won't shock me!"

He had been shocked earlier, which still made Tony feel uncomfortable.

"What is minor surgery?"

Tony looked at the nervous woman with slightly shaking hands. "It's like a little game. Don't be nervous, just take out the wire carefully, okay?"

"Okay." Pepper reached out her hand tentatively.

But as soon as she touched the cold metal shell, she quickly retracted her hand like a timid rabbit. "No, I don't think I can do it!"

"It's okay, you can. You're the most capable person to help me," Tony tilted his head and looked at Pepper. "And the person I trust the most. You can do it."

Pepper saw such a side of Tony for the first time—Tony Stark, weak and in need of help, made her heart beat wildly.
