Chapter 19 - Contact

Although Obadiah doubted Leo's identity, he didn't pay much attention to it. His mind was full of anger at Tony's decision.

With a Cuban cigar in his mouth, he came in to find Tony.

Seeing Tony standing in front of the reactor, he bit down on his cigar, his words angry and illegible, "Look at what you did!!"

Tony turned his head, a bit embarrassed to face his uncle. "Everyone's drawn a bullseye on my head!"

"Your head? My head!" Obadiah retorted, putting one hand into his trouser pocket as he walked over.

"How much do you think the stock price will fall tomorrow?"

"Being optimistic, forty percent," Tony replied self-consciously.

"That's the least!!" Obadiah almost bit off the cigar head.

Holding the pole in one hand, he tried to persuade, "Tony, we make arms!"

"Obi, I don't want to make a fortune from the dead," Tony said, looking at his uncle with expectation, hoping Obadiah would understand.

Obadiah spoke slowly, "But this is our old line! We are arms dealers..."

"The company belongs to me, I have the final say!" Tony interjected, but Obadiah continued.

"Everything we do is to maintain the order of the world!" He stared straight into Tony's eyes.

"What I saw there isn't like this!" Tony replied, looking at Obadiah with great expectation. "We haven't done enough. We can improve, do something else!"

Obadiah didn't care about Tony's pleading eyes and frowned. "For example? Shall we make baby bottles?"

Tony realized that Obi couldn't be reasoned with now. Changing his attitude, he said positively, "I think the arc reactor technology can be considered."

Obadiah laughed, "Oh, the arc reactor, that's just a gesture." He waved towards the huge reactor on the side.

"Tony, stop making trouble. The purpose of this thing is to shut up the good guys!"

"It has value!" Tony said quietly.

"Sure, you can play with it as a science project. This thing can't even be scaled up, we all know it!" Obadiah walked behind Tony again.

"Arc reactor technology has no future, right?"

"That's what you think!"

"Am I wrong? This thing hasn't seen a breakthrough in thirty years!" Obadiah said disdainfully.

"That's what they said?" Tony turned around, looking at his unhappy uncle. "Can your poker face get any worse?"

"Don't worry, show me the breakthrough!" Obadiah pointed at Tony's face with his cigar.

"OK! It was Rod who said it!" Tony's eyes were sad as he unbuttoned his chest.

Obadiah looked around to ensure no one else was there, then stared at the rough small arc reactor embedded in Tony's chest.

Fearing it might be seen by others, he hurriedly buttoned Tony's shirt back up. "Okay."

"Are you satisfied?"

Obadiah finally showed a smile, joy evident in his eyes as if he had discovered a huge treasure.

Looking at Tony, he sighed with satisfaction and said with a smile, "Listen to me, Tony, we're a team, understand? As long as we work together, there's nothing we can't do! Just like your dad and me back then!"

Tony looked at Obadiah apologetically. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you in advance, okay?"

"Tony, Tony! You can't do this again in the future, understand?"

"This is my father's policy!"

Obadiah pursed his lips and looked at Tony. After learning about the Arc Reactor, his mood completely changed. "Let me handle this. We have to make a complete change and become the focus of everyone."

He walked out with Tony in his arms and put him in Happy's car, not noticing another figure in the car.

"John, what did you mean earlier? I'll see him soon. The leader of that organization was blown to pieces by me!" Tony looked at John, who sat calmly beside him.

"You didn't see his body. How can you be sure he's dead? If I remember correctly, you only bombed the wall beside him!" John smiled at Tony, the golden light in his eyes unforgettable.

Tony rubbed his head, puzzled by how this kid knew the scene so well as if he had been there.

"By the way, John, I remember you apologized to me earlier. Why? I didn't know you then!"

John glanced at Tony before turning back. "Mr. Stark, my ability allows me to foresee death, but I can't tell you directly, so I had to apologize."

"What? You knew Yinsen was going to die?" Stark turned to face John, his left hand, still intact, grabbed John's neck. Anger, shock, and regret filled his eyes.

"Yes," John replied honestly.

"You made me lose one of my best partners, my savior!" Tony gritted his teeth.

Sensing the tension, Happy stopped the car and pulled out a swinging stick, staring at John, even though he was just a child.

"But Tony, do you think if I had told you, would you have believed it? If you had, could you have saved Yinsen? Would he really have come back with you?" John looked at Tony, not angry, even smiling.

Tony thought about Yinsen's words, 'This is my plan,' 'I'm going to see my family,' 'This is the ending I want,' 'Tony, cherish life, don't waste it!' His grip loosened, and John sat back in his seat.

Tony, sitting with a blank expression, still heard Yinsen's words echoing in his mind, remembering his savior who had lived and eaten with him for three months.

John's eyes brightened, seeing through Tony's clothes and flesh to the device on his chest. Though crude, it kept Tony alive.

However, a small piece of copper wire was exposed outside. It was fine if left untouched, but opening it could cause a short circuit.

His eyes moved to Tony's right hand, which had a small sprain but no serious problem.

"Mr. Stark, my family lives in Manhattan, Forest Hill Road, No. 42. If you have any questions, you can come to me anytime. If you need help, you can also come to me. Mr. Stark, I want to tell you, the future is very exciting. I believe in you!"

John patted Tony like a small adult on the shoulder and left the car.

Then, John pointed his toes, like a sports car, flew out in a low altitude, and disappeared in a while.
