Chapter 46 - Cape Academy

Entering inside, he found Issac and Gavin waiting for him with facial expressions that said it all.

"Damn, this can't be good."

"I'll get straight to the point, from now on Gavin will be your legal guardian. Starting tomorrow you will attend Cape Academy, You've already been enrolled on the behalf of the city head himself."

"You're fifteen years of age so that puts you graduating in a total of six months. A lot of your soon to be schoolmates will not like it , but at least tending the academy for the remaining time will give you a for sure opportunity to join a guild."

"There is also a new exam, every new student must take. Supposedly theirs two forms, one at the beginning of the final year and one at the end of the final year. Since you start tomorrow, it will count as your beginning exam. I'm not fully aware what it is, but I should have the information soon.

"It's been five years since the incident of those family involving the cursed slaves so Mr. Goldshire believes whatever happened back then will not happen with you considering how long its been. If so then you'll be putting Gavin in danger and he's perfectly fine with that."

"That is all , oh just to inform you two, Mr. Goldshear doesn't do things for any reason so be mindful." Issac said with a stone face heading for the door.

Gavin took in a deep breath and slowly exhaled after taking a seat at a small dinning table.

"Well, I didn't think I would be a father this soon, at least not like this. I mean, I'm only 25." He said cutting his eyes at Damon, while rubbing his hand through his short hair.

Damon looked at him oddly not knowing what to say until Gavin burst out laughing.

"I'm kidding, I'm not going to act or pretend I'm your father. I'm just someone who has to look after you for a while." He said playfully.

"Besides, I was going to ask if you wanted to live with me anyway, but your actions today has already made it so."

Damon stood in place not knowing what to say. A few things were running through his head. He didn't understand how fighting Taylen produced such an outcome, He was sure it was more to it.

"This doesn't seem like a punishment if you ask me."

"No Damon, it doesn't, but remember what Issac said about the city head. It's definitely a reason behind this, either way it's a good opportunity. You can attend school and learn a lot, Issac told me how unskilled you are in a fight."

"You only beat Taylen because of his thought process. He thinks he should have won based on his status and not his work ethic. Poor kid has a lot to learn, This world is so much bigger than Capetown. "

"It's food in the oven if you're hungry, I'm going to bed. Alot of rookie duties tomorrow and im being questioned about Bailey."

"About Bailey, but why?"

" I'm being investigated on my efforts to save him and exactly what I could have done to prevent such a thing, but don't worry I am not at fault. I called for back up and no one showed up, everything should be fine."

"Wait, are you sure everything will be fine, it wasn't your fault."

"Yes I'm sure, don't worry about me, It'll get settled."

" Oh, Your schedule and some new gear is on the bed. Captain Issac personaly got them for you so you should thank him."

Damon plowed around in his head about everything as he took out a plate full of meat from the oven and headed to his room.

He scanned over the academy schedule before his attention turned to a large wooden chest near the closet.

Resting inside was all black leather armour with gold and silver outlines on the leather pauldrons, arm brace and greaves. A matching pair of boots where on the side of the bed as well.

A few sets of white and blue academy uniforms with a large blue cape emblem on the back were also included along with a card that read.

"There's an extra compartment on the side, I thought it would be a good add on. Oh, and don't think you can't be arrested so stay out of trouble brawler."

Damon twisted his lips in annoyance while reading the word brawler. It was like Issac was constantly throwing shots at him for not having real fighting skills. He still felt a good bit of hatred towards Issac and didn't care for his help, but there was no way he was letting the armor go to waste.

He pushed in the compartment and as it popped out. A pair of red leather gauntlets could be seen with another card.

"Red was the only color, deal with it."

Damon painfully cracked a smile as he was very thankful for the gifts, he immediately tried everything on. It took him some time to figure out how all the components were aligned together, but he was highly satisfied.

"Hmph, It actually looks ok, and it's easy to move in." He thought.

He then activated his cloud storage. A cloud in the shape of a large block appeared, with a simple thought the armor vanished.

Ding!

[Armor has been stored.]

With another thought the armor appeared back on his body within seconds. He wished he would have known it could have be done that way from the beginning or he wouldn't have went through the trouble figuring out how to put on the armor.

He did the same with all of his academy uniforms. For over an hour he would put them on and off feeling like some kind of magical wizard as they appeared.

Dimensional storage space was nothing new, but to have his very own unique unlimited storage that couldn't be seen was everything.

He did a little cloud shaping before getting in bed and realized his daily tasks had been reset.

The only thing changed was the time of rain control which had been lowered by thirty minutes.

[Daily tasks]

[ Weight training in any form. Must lift one hundred pounds 10 times.

Run 2 kilometers

Practice cloud shaping/control for two hours. [Progression time remaining 01:26:00]

Practice rain control for one hour and 30 minutes.]

Another thing he noticed was any extra training dealing with his daily tasks where counted as well. His progression and remaining time was listed underneath anything he had started on.

He soon prepared for bed, but failed to actually sleep. He was a bit anxious from the thought of going to school so he decided to learn more about the system but found out he had almost zero access to it.

He could pull up his status and see items in his inventory along with his daily tasks and skills, but that was all. It was like flipping pages in a book and besides the first couple pages, all that could be seen was a black screen with white bold words.

[Unavailable -full awakening required]

Unsuccessful with occupying himself he just let his mind drift away with thoughts until he fell asleep.

He woke up two hours early and after getting dressed, he noticed Gavin had left a note with a small device in the shape of a white marble with straps on each side.

"Keep this coms device on you at all times, It's already linked with your finger prints and my second device as well. Call if you need anything."

Damon slapped it on his wrist and headed out. Instead of walking he ran in order to start his 2 kilometers daily task. A little time later he motioned the coms device near his mouth.

"Time."

The white marble materialized a screen displaying digital blue numbers informing him it was 6:40 am. He continued running through alleys on his usual route and completed his first task.

The streets had come alive within another hour as shop owners opened up their businesses for the day. Paying close attention to the time he ran to Cape Academy to get ahead of tomorrow task.

Many students were already there and entering into the building. It was a large multi sectional building that was split up. It had many windows throughout with white and blue cape design on the front of the first building doors.

Damon was noticed the second he stepped on the sidewalk going up to the building. He continued to walk pretending he didn't notice the looks he was getting. He could even hear some of them talk trash belittling him as they walked in groups.

Anxiety began bubbling up, but he pushed it back down by telling himself how much he didn't care about their words and what they thought about him.

Looking ahead a familiar face stood next to the entrance.

"Captain Issac, what are you doing here."

"I'm here to get things going for you. There are a few things you must do before you can actually start class. Let's get started so I can leave." He said in a uncaring manner.

He followed Issac inside and they soon entered a spacious arena the size of a mini stadium. Memories of himself, Sin and Manboy came to him. It was five years ago, but the stadium still looked the same as before.

There were five adults waiting for them in the center of the floor sitting at a large table.

Issac gestured for Damon to wait as he went to speak with them. A few minutes later two more people entered the room as Issac returned to Damons side.

"This is a screening to determine how strong your ability is along with your physical strength among other things. Just think of them as talent scouts. All of them except Mr. Bell. He's the brains behind many things such as most technology."

"Oh, it's something else as well, after your screening you will attend in a small off world expedition. It's the new academy test i was talking about yesterday that they put in place. I will inform Gavin about it as well, I had no clue they were starting that type of screening today so it was a bit of a surprise."

Damon instantly became nervous, he didn't understand why he had to take such a thing. Everyone already knew how worthless his ability was. On top of that, they wanted him to attend some off world screening as well. It was ludicrous to him.

Damon became lost in thought, thinking about how all of it was complete bull when Isaac tapped him on his shoulder.

"Pay attention you are after the kid who just walked in."

A young boy with blond neatly cut hair and green eyes that stood around 6 foot, the same age as Damon was seen walking to the center of the stage.

The young boy had on white and gold bamboo clothing and linen attire. It was thin and flowed with the simplest breeze. He was well built and looked very athletic as he stretched his lean muscles.

Mechanical parts of the floor began moving and rising up was a large steel plate with a target.

The boy stood in front of it as a red light flashed, then yellow, then green. He stomped his foot while leaning forward as if he was striking the target.

The red target rings flashed eight times and the people at the tables all stood up clapping holding up score cards of 10.

Damon looked with confusion. He didn't see anything to clap about let alone score. To Damon the boy just took a fighting stance.

The walls around him began moving and emerging from the walls were large long barrels. The same red, yellow and green lights flashed as before.

The barrels tips began glowing shooting out orange energy balls the size of a lemon. The boy dodged every blast effortlessly and once again everyone clapped and scored him a 10.

Damon mouth dropped to the floor slowly as he still couldn't understand it. He thought he saw something weird, like a after Image or replica of the boy. One second he was in one spot and then somewhere completely different.

"He's teleporting right, Man what a great ability." He said out loud without realizing it.

"No, It's not teleportation. It's something much more dangerous if nurtured correctly." Responded Issac.

"Man, he's good. He must be in his final years of school and just transferred here or something." Damon thought in which he found out he was almost spot on with his assumption.
