"I need time to process everything," Kushina said, her voice carrying the weight of exhaustion and wonder. "What you've become… It's beyond anything I could have imagined. I need to think about what this means."
Renjiro nodded slowly, his gaze still fixed on the distant walls of the laboratory.
"I understand," he replied. "There is something I must do immediately. I cannot trust myself around other people until I understand my new body."
He paused, his expression carrying the weight of his realisation.
"I don't know what I'm capable of anymore. And until I do, I could be a danger to everyone around me."
Renjiro left the laboratory, his steps carrying him through hidden corridors beneath the house. The passages were narrow, their walls lined with sealing arrays that pulsed with faint energy. He had built this network a while ago. The corridors descended several levels, each one protected by additional layers of security; multiple barrier seals, chakra locks, reinforced walls, and shock-absorption arrays that would contain even the most violent releases of energy.
He reached the final door; it was massive, its surface covered in sealing formulas that glowed with a steady blue light. He pressed his palm against the centre, channelling a pulse of chakra that matched the specific frequency of the lock. The seals flared, then faded, and the door swung open.
The training chamber was a massive underground cavern, its walls reinforced by thousands of layered sealing formulas. Artificial stone pillars rose from the floor, their surfaces scarred by years of training. Water dripped from stalactites high above, the sound echoing through the vast space. Scorch marks from previous exercises covered the walls and floor, testament to the power that had been unleashed here. Renjiro sealed the entrance behind him, ensuring that he was completely alone.
He stood at the centre of the chamber, his gaze sweeping across the space. The echoes of his footsteps faded into the distance, swallowed by the vastness of the cavern. He was alone with his new body, his new eyes, his new power. It was time to understand what he had become.
He activated the EMS for the first time in a controlled environment, and unlike the Mangekyō, there was no pain, no burning, no pressure. The activation was completely natural, as if his eyes had always been capable of this. The world changed instantly; colours became more vivid, details became sharper, and the flow of chakra became visible in ways that had never been possible before.
He began with sensory calibration, focusing on the simplest thing he could observe; a single drop of water falling from a stalactite. He watched it descend, and time almost appeared to slow. He noticed microscopic imperfections in the surface of the drop, dust particles suspended within it, air resistance affecting its trajectory, vibrations in the surrounding stone, changing surface tension as it fell, reflections of the dim light, and the minute rotation of the droplet as it descended. He predicted the exact landing point, the splash angle, the fragmentation pattern, and the rebound droplets.
Seconds later, everything occurred exactly as he had predicted. The drop struck the stone floor, splashing in a pattern that matched his vision perfectly.
My perception is almost precognitive, he realised, his internal voice carrying the weight of understanding. I'm not just seeing what is happening; I'm seeing what will happen.
Immediately afterwards, too much information arrived. Everything became overwhelming; every grain of dust, every crack in the stone, every air current, every vibration, tiny insects, water vapour, chakra residue, muscle movement, sound waves. His brain began trying to process all of it simultaneously, and the flood of data became exhausting.
I can't process all of this, he thought, his internal voice sharp with the strain. The eyes aren't the problem. My brain is. I need to learn selective perception.
He consciously narrowed his focus, deliberately ignoring the background noise, focusing only on what was relevant. It was like learning to ignore the sensation of clothing against skin, or the sound of distant traffic. Gradually, the overwhelming flood began calming, his mind adapting to the new flow of information.
The true skill, he realised, is deciding what NOT to perceive. The EMS provides infinite information; the challenge is filtering it.
He moved on to chakra testing, beginning with something simple and familiar.
A basic C-rank Wind Release: the Wind Cutter Technique.
He chose it because it was a reliable benchmark, a technique he had performed long enough to master it. He performed a single hand seal; the movement was effortless, requiring less chakra than before, almost instinctive.
He fired the ninjutsu, expecting a modest wind blade.
Instead, the blast tore through several stone pillars, reinforced walls, and old impact barriers. Large sections of the cavern sheared apart, stone fragments flying through the air like shrapnel. The technique behaved closer to an A-rank attack, its power far exceeding anything he had intended.
Long silence.
Renjiro stared at the devastation, his expression unreadable.
"That was…"
He trailed off, unable to find the words. He had used the same amount of chakra as always, but the output was exponentially greater. The implications were staggering; if he could not control his power, he could not safely interact with anyone.
He didn't celebrate his new strength; he investigated it. He analyzed the results, searching for the cause. The denser chakra, the hardened pathways, the improved efficiency, the less leakage, the higher compression—all of it contributed to the overwhelming output. He was using the same amount of chakra, but producing far more effect.
He repeated the experiment with a basic C-rank Fire Release, the Fireball Technique. He deliberately reduced the chakra even further, intending to produce a small flame. Instead, the flames erupted with overwhelming intensity; instead of a small fireball, he produced a roaring inferno that scorched huge sections of the chamber. Heat melted stone; barrier seals activated automatically; emergency suppression arrays engaged, their energy patterns flaring to contain the blast.
He stared at the devastation, his expression darkening.
This explains part of Madara's strength, he thought. It's not just the techniques. It's the sheer output. The compression. The efficiency. Every jutsu becomes a weapon of mass destruction.
Renjiro became noticeably quieter. He wasn't impressed; he was worried. His thoughts shifted toward reality; training with Kakashi, training genin, engaging with the ANBU, walking through village streets, working with mission partners. He began mentally replaying normal situations, and every scenario now had unintended casualties. A demonstration jutsu could level a building.
My problem is no longer becoming stronger, he realized, his internal voice carrying the weight of his understanding. It's becoming safe. Every punch, every kunai, every jutsu, every movement must now be restrained. Not enhanced.
He made a decision, quiet and final. No missions, no sparring, no demonstrations until he relearned: walking, throwing, punching, using chakra, everything. He needed to become weak again, to master the restraint that would allow him to coexist with others.
He extinguished the remaining flames, his chakra snuffing out the fires with a thought. He looked around the devastated chamber, at the shattered pillars, the melted stone, the scorched walls. The destruction was immense, and it had been caused by techniques he had deliberately weakened.
"This wasn't even a battle," he said quietly, his voice echoing through the cavern. He paused, his gaze falling to his own hands; they looked ordinary, human, but they contained power that could level buildings.
"If this is my new baseline…" He looked toward the tunnel that led back home, his expression carrying the weight of his realization. "…then I have to learn how to be weak again."
