Standing in front of gargantuan doors, an ominous feeling was exuded from them. Alphys looked with a bit of wonder and at the same time a slight nervous feeling came to her as she swallowed a small knot in her throat. It was too late for her to be scared, for the sake of everyone, no, for the sake of herself. Alphys had a nice thought. Perhaps when she got back after this she could show Undyne all the cool stuff she could do. Then even she would truly be impressed by her.
With no more regrets the dinosaur opened the door shining with opportunity ahead of her. Beyond it she squinted her eyes and observed the new world that stretched out before her. The girl that was with her was somehow already within it. It seemed to be like that of a school. Instantly she had been forced to sit within a desk while she stood at a board in front.
"Dr. Alphys, glad you're here. This will be the first out of your 3 tests, Alphys. This one is a bit puzzling because… It's a puzzle. See what I did there?" She laughed rather dryly as if finding her own joke in poor taste. Then grumbling at it before shaking her head.
"Anyways, good luck." Eclipse said with a sudden exclamation within her voice.
Suddenly she had disappeared from the room and now Alphys was left by herself. There was only one slight difference. The walls were closing in around her at a quick pace. If she wasn't fast enough she would be flatted to paste. Realizing this her eyes shot open wide, scrambling around for clues to survive.
Glancing around the entirety of the room for some sort of clue her eyes paused on the clock above. It was stopped with both of its hands pointing towards the 6:00 direction. Time passed yet it didn't move. Eventually after pressing around it opened when she found a weaker point. And out from the wall she had taken… an apple? Looking at it baffled for a moment, she quickly turned again. There was no time to even be stunned. Some desks were already starting to be pushed towards the center.
She was kinda hungry, it had been some time before she had eaten. Alphys looked around and idly ate the apple. Something hard had been felt within it. "Ack!" Looking at the hard thing she bit it was a key, pulling it from the apple and eating the rest whole. "Ah of course!"
Where could this key go, she doesn't know any locks would be… oh right. At the desk. When she does work for school Alphys often has to lock away the devices of children, ah the kids of today certainly could be some troublemakers.
It turned out it opened up the desk, and within it was a bomb. The eyes of the yellow dinosaur widening with surprise, a bomb? What kind of escape room is this? Alphys did not question it any further and used a bolt of her electrical magic lighting the flame. Reeling an arm back Alphys tossed it right at the whiteboard in front of the class with hope that this was the proper usage for it. A sigh of relief escaped her lips when she saw a hole open up leading somewhere.
With swift motion jumping through the crack landing onto her feet down within another chamber. Eyes scanned the room for analysis on her new situation, her eyes had dawned upon something that garnered most recognition in the mostly blank room that gave little appeal to one's sensory..
This something moved and bent down its front to meet her gaze. It was another person dressed similarly to Eclipse, if you were to describe her it would be like her big sister. Not many differences were seen between them except her face seemed a lot more stern and her body a lot tougher and taller. Her arms crossed as her gaze seemed to look into the eyes of Alphys and even past them.
A slight chill came from this before the woman would speak. "Greetings, Alphys. You may call me Lia, a lot less flowery than my sister's. To be honest I find her a tad bit too childish. That little thing she set up for you was far too simple. Although you are of great intellect, it is hard to think of a challenge. So, how about I offer one that may be befitting your expertise."
Her hands clapped and suddenly Lia was within another room looking through a window towards Alphys, there wasn't even a door there. Lia's hand waved towards Alphys as scraps flooded into the room around Alphys, they didn't appear like they would be very useful.
"Alright Dr. Alphys. I would like to see how far your creativity can stretch. You have… some time before something disastrous will fall upon you. Good luck!" Lia blew her a kiss and stepped black into the darkness, probably still watching her.
Alphys was stunned. She really had to talk to Toby later about the concerning amount of tests that threatened to end her life. Her head shook to sudden reality, she should be concerned about that later so she doesn't just die now.
"Alright let's see what we've got here." Her tongue sticks slightly out with extreme focus digging through the various scraps. Picking some things up and tossing some to the side trying to find the right things for what she wished.
"I wish she told me what exactly I was going up against. Guess I'll just make something for all purposes. A-ah! I've got it." Alphys said enthusiastically, already envisioning her possible creation. Now she picked up an item and looked at it with a smirk. "I can use this for a magic facilitator. I really wished I had joined Undyne in her training now…"
Alphys grumbled at her relatively average magic reserves, but she would have to find a way to maximize them here. A bit of time had passed since the start of her tedious tinkering and already she had created a prototype, although with the ambiguous time she was given she didn't know if she could finish it.
"Time to test… hmm" Alphys was thinking of a name to give it "Alpha-Rex? Ah that's so lame. I'll do that again later."
Before her was a suit that seemed to be somewhat larger than Alphys pieced together by scrap carefully weaved together and constructed to seem decently stable. To describe it would be a rather generic mecha you'd see in an anime, but smaller to fit her. The head being akin to a T-Rex, why? Because it's awesome and partially practical.
Sending a zap into the suit it bursts to life. Stepping behind it, Alphys would enter it and start to look around. Due to it being powered by magic it was capable of quite a lot of things like the feature she was going to test now. The ground below her started to glow a sparkling yellow, the very ground rumbled as a sound equivalent to that of a jet engine erupted through the space.
Sputtering to life she flew up in the sky as the rocket oscillated off and on trying to calibrate properly. It seems like this wasn't working the best. She certainly had improvements to make.
Unfortunately she did not get to do such a thing. As soon as she thought of this the gaze of a titanic being would meet her own. Alphys gulped as it opened its mouth ready to chomp down onto him. Her suit sputtered with life once more and shot her away from it.
A loud chomp echoed through the space as she narrowly missed it. Now it was time for her to face her own fears and fight this!... And she's falling. Fortunately she already had a failsafe just in case. From her wrist a solid electric beam shot out with a hooked end. It ended up landing on the creature's eyelid. "Gross…"
The hook quickly shortens shooting Alphys straight towards it and crashing into its eye with a sickening squelch making a dent into it, fluid oozing out of the damaged eye. Pulling herself out of it a giant hand met her partway smacking her back further into it.
"I guess this also works, thanks big guy!" Alphys exclaims despite her suit having sustained some damage from the swing, it gave her another idea.
The creature swung its head all about trying to shake her off crying out in anguish. Alphys simply stuck her limbs into its rather thick eye to have hold upon it. At the same time her energy was charging within these different limbs glowing with a sparkling yellow energy…
The next thing that was known her energy completely exploded the eyeball and bits of it that were surrounding it. Alphys is now falling inside of it. "Really gross…"
The creature stabbed one of its own fingers inside of its eye to poke at Alphys, this was actually effective in destroying a chunk of her armor and pushing her through its optic nerve. Now she was right where she needed to be, but with the damage she sustained it would be hard to deal much damage to the behemoth.
Now in the squishy spots of its brain she knew what she had to do already and she would master what strength was left to do it. Holding her breath she shot off a beam through the creature's brain to make a path within it. Thrashing all over it made Alphys fall to the side and smack against its skull. Grumbling, she clawed her way back up and took off her suit, throwing it into the hole within its brain. Her magic coursing through it and beginning to brighten. Quickly she jumped out of the body as an explosion occured. The creature's brain exploded as it fell over. Alphys slammed against the ground feeling dazed with her eyes hardly open.
Soft footsteps clattered against the ground approaching Alphys's fallen body. Her weak gaze peered up towards the one who approached. It was Eclipse once more who seemed to have been quite pleased, likely because of her success with the scraps she was given. And an oddly easy one at that.
