Hoshi Carmen Takada-Santos, better known as Hoshi Santos, might seem to be an ordinary biracial high school student living in Nara City, Japan, but his other self, the serious, strong, and cold Kuro, is a strong warrior who wields a scythe as his weapon.
  It’s been 4 years since his father, a Filipino shaman named Louis Santos, had died after banishing an evil entity, only known as Master Black Blood, into the underworld for his atrocities, Hoshi had to hide and conceal Kuro from anyone for his safety. But, Master Black Blood’s son, Master Demon Blood, would do anything to avenge for his father’s banishment from the overworld, and this also means killing Hoshi. This demonic entity also employs the help of Sha Sakiyama, a mercenary and expert on the use of shadow, to get rid of Hoshi.

His classmate, a reclusive and introverted ninja named Bokuto Sakata, decided to help him out because his father was a close acquaintance of Louis, and a girl named Saki Mizoguchi, who was secretly a mage and had a long family lineage of the use of magic.

 The next morning was an entire day in Cebu City and Mactan Island for themselves. The group headed to Mactan Island via the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) and in a city jeepney. This was built a few years ago, and it was officially inaugurated on April 27, 2022, and it was opened on 30 of the same month. The bridge was a marvel of modern engineering that even Sha, Taro, Bokuto, Saki, Reo, and Paulo, who were used to seeing Japanese modern bridges all their lives, marveled at the recent modern upgrade of the city and its nearby historical island.


 Mactan Island was where Cebu City's big international airport was located, and the group remembered landing on it yesterday afternoon from Roxas City, Capiz. There in Lapu-Lapu City (a name shock for Bokuto and those who were still in the middle of comprehending Cebuano history) they had some fun looking at monuments of the city and the island. For short distances, they travelled by foot; for longer ones, like around the island, they took advantage of cheap public transport.


 They had native Cebuano snacks like dried mangoes and Otap for a morning snack, and for lunch, they had Andok's Fried Chicken at an Andok's branch. Mactan Island, for them, is unique in almost every way. Reo and Taro even picked a few Cebuano words and phrases to learn about them.
