After Rihito separated, he concealed himself and flew toward the castle as a horde of reaper-like monsters encircled the sky. On the ground, too, many dogs with three heads, insects, frogs, and various other monsters roamed around the castle.
"Great, more monsters." He was about to pull out Muramasa, but paused.
"Hmm…Let's try something different." He then pulled out a long, white, pristine bow he had previously created.
With a deep breath, Rihito gently pulled the string, summoning a concentrated fire arrow that materialised between the bow and the string. Mana surged from his body, enveloping the arrow and infusing it with greater power. As he focused, the vibrant orange flames shifted to a striking bluish-white hue, making the arrow's energy feel palpable. He steadied his aim and released the arrow, sending it soaring with a force that echoed through the air.
BOOM!
With a sonic boom, the arrow soared through the air, splitting into multiple rays that resembled fine, laser-like strands, akin to delicate spider webs. These rays tore through every monster in their path, clearing the sky of the menacing horde.
His gaze then landed on the ground. He then hosted another arrow, this time made of ice, freezing cold. He again poured his mana into it, as a cold mist wafted off it. He again gently released it.
BOOM!
The arrow shot forth with the speed of a winter storm, piercing through the air toward the centre of the horde on the ground. It struck with precision, releasing an explosion of icy mana that enveloped the monsters in a frigid grip. Within moments, the horde was encased in a crystalline ice structure, shimmering in the faint light before shattering into countless shards, scattering the remnants of their menace.
From his floating point, Rihito surveyed the now-cleared sky, and the few remaining monsters on the ground retreated in panic toward the direction where he sensed Hajime and the others were gathering.
"..."
[Well, with their current strength, they will be able to survive that much,] he thought, shrugging.
Rihito landed at the castle entrance. As he stepped toward it, a faint, distorted telepathic voice reached out to him.
[Com..e to me…]
"..."
Rihito narrowed his eyes. "That voice again." He had first heard it in an altar inside one of the caves in Erisen, but he ignored it because he didn't want to get dragged into trouble by unlocking some seal. However, since arriving here, the voice had been bothering him.
"This is getting really annoying." The voice also had a somewhat hypnotic effect, but it was ineffective on him. Thankfully, he had worked on his mental training.
[Shut the fuck up!] he shouted back, annoyed.
In response, evil laughter erupted, like that of a second-rate villain.
Rihito stepped inside the castle to see who or what exactly the thing buzzing in his head was, which he immediately regretted. Inside, he was confronted with a grotesque mixture of flesh and vines, intertwined with veins running through them. It resembled a tentacle straight out of some hentai; no, even worse. Additionally, it was spreading throughout the old, dusty decor, giving the place a repulsive appearance.
He put on his mask in disgust and walked deeper, trying to ignore it. But to his grimace, the whole place was filled with those repulsive tentacles with veins, few of them twitching, trying to spread to anything they could reach out to.
"After I am out of here, I will burn this place to the ground," he swore.
Rihito pushed forward, actively avoiding the dangling tentacle vines. But the deeper he went into the castle, the denser the cluster of those grotesque tentacles became. Suddenly, one of the dangling tentacles twitched and brushed close to his mask, where his mouth is. The revolting sensation of the tentacles brushing against him heightens his disgust.
"Fuck this! I can't take this shit!" Rihito pulled out his chainsaw sword.
Rihito poured his mana into the chainsaw as it screeched, swinging it with determination to shred through the writhing tentacles. He activated
Peering closely, Rihito noticed strange structures that looked like test tubes and jugs, their glass surfaces thickly coated with a bizarre substance. It was obvious he had discovered a derelict laboratory, a place where dark experiments might once have occurred, now overtaken by the grotesque reach of tentacles that seemed to pulse with a life of their own.
"Is this the place where this thing was made?" he muttered.
As Rihito scanned the old, worn-out instruments, he sensed tentacles moving and surging at the lab entrance, which then shut the exit.
He immediately made distance as he sensed multiple tentacles surge from the glass chambers, merging into a cocoon, and in the next moment, from it, a three-headed dog-like monster came out. And it was not the only one. After the first, more tentacle cocoons popped out, and more and more monsters of different species emerged.
"What is this? Did I enter some sort of monster factory?"
[Hehehe, com…e to me.]
Rihito heard that same voice, now more sinister. His eyes twitch, "Does that thing think I am its plaything or something?" Just when he was wondering what the owner of the voice was planning, he heard him speak again, this time more clearly.
[My minions… bring it to me. My perfect body~]
Rihito's expression beneath the mask shifted from annoyed to neutral. Light Magic surged as the light of Disintegration wrapped around the chainsaw's sharp teeth.
[Great, another one…]
The newly spawned monsters lunged at me, but with the next swing, they were annihilated as a wave of disintegrating light swept through the chamber, obliterating everything and piercing through the ceiling, reaching the sky, sending tremors throughout the kingdom.
Without hesitation, Rihito activated
"Found you."
Rihito aimed the chainsaw sword and began swinging, shredding the wall. By this point, he was impatient and had lost interest in the building around him. No matter the monsters, walls, or pillars in his path, he sliced through them effortlessly, getting closer to that creature. As I moved forward, parts of the castle began to collapse behind me.
He already had a mad god pursuing him; he didn't need another parasite vying for his body. 'No, thank you.' This is his blunt response, his defiance, his middle finger to anyone who thought him a vessel.
But still, he would try to converse with it as a being with some level of sentience; it should be able to understand, right? But if it turned out to be nothing more than a beast with intelligence, he would have to eliminate it.
Soon, he reached the center of the castle, an open courtyard. Right in front of him stood the tallest tower of the kingdom, its sealed gate from which those same disgusting tentacles slipped out from cracks, spreading throughout the castle. Even then, its main body was trapped; the seal made sure of it.
[My body, perfect body, GIVE IT TO MEE!]
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
"..."
Rihito exhaled, hearing its shriek, "Yeah… definitely a beast." His tiny hope was dashed.
The gate shook violently as the thing inside bashed against it, desperate to break free.
"Things are probably going to be explosive. I'd better warn them," he muttered, sending a brief telepathic message to his friends before turning back to the gate.
BOOOM!
[GIvE iT tO MeEe!!] the things voice distorted with weird, inconsistent pitch.
"Yeah, yeah, I hear you."
More and more hair-thin cracks spread as the older cracks became more pronounced. At this point, the seal was barely holding on, just a good hit away from breaking.
"You want my body? I already have a psychotic god after me, I don't need another one."
Rihito's mana flared, he simultaneously activated
BOOOM!!
The entity sensed its sealed gate breaking and became excited. It was finally free; it would be able to fulfil what its master had once asked of it. Long ago, he had come so close to achieving his goal, but those damn mages had intervened, sealing him away. [Seal me, the king of this kingdom? How dare they! How dare that wretched fish trap me in my own castle!? They will…] Before it could finish its thoughts, it felt an impact.
…
Rihito's empowered fist smashed through the seal, shattering it into splinters and sending cracks reverberating throughout the castle. The aftershocks likely spread throughout the kingdom.
But Rihito's fist wasn't aimed at the seal—it was aimed at the creature behind it. His empowered strike smashed into the grotesque humanoid figure, its body bursting into a revolting green slurry.
"…Huh?"
He stared at the pool of thick, viscous liquid spreading across the floor.
"That was it?" His tone was flat, almost disappointed.
The creature's remains bubbled faintly, releasing a foul stench. Rihito tilted his head, mask hiding his grimace.
"Pathetic." He stepped back, chainsaw sword humming at his side. "All that noise, all that posturing… and this is what you amounted to?"
The liquid quivered unnaturally, as though refusing to accept defeat.
Rihito's eyes narrowed. "Don't tell me you're still alive."
