Adam had completely ignored Dorian's existence.
All that mattered to him was Valerian. He crouched beside his little brother and carefully examined his injuries, exercising as much patience as his fury would allow.
There were heavy bruises covering much of Valerian's body, but thankfully, Adam could find no signs of internal injuries. The worst were his twisted limbs, though even those could be healed given enough time.
Valerian was still conscious. His topaz eyes looked up at Adam, filled with pain and fear, as though silently pleading with him.
He weakly murmured, "I'm sorry, Brother… I just… wanted to help you…"
Adam felt his heart shatter when he heard those words. He was so furious.
Not at Valerian, of course.
But at himself.
"Can you enter?" he asked.
Valerian's lips trembled, and he weakly nodded. "Myu…"
And just like that, in a flash of grey light, he was gone.
