Dorian's claws were a moment away from piercing Adam's skull.
He could see it — the eyes exploding, the skull shattering, and grey matter spraying in every direction. Just the thought of doing that to his brother's killer filled his mind with euphoria.
But what he envisioned did not come to pass.
Before Dorian could kill Adam, his vision was suddenly engulfed in blinding grey light. A moment later, he felt his claws slam against something hard and impenetrable. Instantly, he felt the bones in his finger crack.
And that wasn't all. Just moments later, a vicious maw clamped down on his neck, its sharp teeth threatening to tear out his throat!
It had all happened too quickly for Dorian to react. Thankfully, the creature's fangs seemed incapable of piercing his flesh.
Enraged and startled, Dorian grabbed hold of the creature that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and violently slammed it to the ground.
