Fudge ordered someone to fetch the Pensieve, and after waiting for a few seconds, the wizard came back and placed the Pensieve near the witness stand.
Dudley, though visibly anxious, asked, "What's going to happen to me?"
He did not understand what memory extraction was, nor what the object that had been placed in front of him.
The Auror standing beside Dudley placed a comforting hand on his shoulder once again and spoke in a reassuring tone, "Don't worry, Mr. Dursley. This won't cause you harm. We're just going to extract the memories from your mind so that everyone can see exactly what happened that night. All you have to do is close your eyes and focus on the memory you have of that night."
Dudley, though still visibly anxious, nodded hesitantly. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes as instructed, attempting to focus on recalling the events of that fateful night.
As Dudley concentrated on his memories, the Auror pointed his wand at the strand of hair near Dudley's temple. With precision and a gentle wave of the wand, the silvery-white glistening strand of memory substance began to emerge from Dudley's head.
With the memory strand attached to the Auror's wand, the Auror moved toward the Pensieve.
Throughout the whole operation, Harry was watching silently. In his mind, none of this mattered; whatever the result, he knew that in the end, he would be by Voldemort's side.
Maybe he would need to spend some time in Azkaban, but it did not matter. His lord was going to win in the end.
Harry observed as the Auror got near the Pensieve, and Harry's sight was more focused on the magical artifact itself.
It had the appearance of a metal basin, into which runes and strange symbols were carved, and precious stones were fitted. Harry noticed that, unlike the one in the headmaster's office, this Pensieve was different.
Instead of being filled with a silvery substance that appears to be a liquid, this one that belonged to the ministry was filled with a white gas, like a cloud.
As the Auror dropped the strand of Dudley's memory, it disappeared inside the cloud, and a reaction started. The cloud that was hovering on top of the basin began flowing in several directions until it became a shape the size of a group of ten people.
The scene within the Pensieve unfolded, and the courtroom watched as the misty cloud transformed into a vivid memory of the Dursleys' living room.
Dudley, sitting on the couch, was engrossed in watching television. Dudley's mother, Petunia Dursley, moved about in the kitchen, cleaning the dishes, while Dudley's father, Vernon Dursley, read the newspaper, seated at the dining table.
Then the wizards around saw that Harry appeared by the door.
They watched as Harry stood there unmoving, just looking at each of the muggles. No one who saw this scene would predict that in the next moment, Harry was going to kill them. The scene from the Pensieve felt like it was still, as Harry remained unmoving, but the wizards still saw that the activities done by the three muggles continued.
Finally, it happened as they saw Dudley's mother take notice of Harry at the entrance. After the mother informed the rest of the Dudley family, they all sawHarry. Then they heard the father, Vernon, talking angrily and insulting Harry. The memory played out as Dudley got up from the sofa and approached Harry.
The next scene from the Pensieve shook everyone present. They saw the boy Dudley, who was standing on the witness stand, launch a punch at Harry.
The blow landed squarely on Harry's stomach, and a murmur of shock rippled through the Wizengamot.
Some thought that no wonder Harry tortured the boy. Maybe he retaliated for the punch as they expected Harry to wield his wand and use a curse on him. But instead, they saw Harry remain motionless, not retaliating in any way.
As the Pensieve continued to play the memories of that fateful night, the wizarding community present in the courtroom couldn't help but grow tense at what they heard.
The insults hurled at Harry by the Dursleys echoed in the minds of those watching, and a sense of discomfort settled over the Wizengamot.
During all this time, they watched as Harry stood still until finally they heard an insult from the Muggle mother and father, which they saw caused Harry to snap.
They heard as the Muggle mother switched from insulting Harry to insulting his mother. Then the Muggle father went too far by calling his mother a bitch.
As the memory played out in the Pensieve, the atmosphere in the courtroom grew more charged.
The insults directed at Harry's mother, Lily Potter, struck a nerve within the wizarding community. Gasps of shock and disbelief echoed through the chamber as the Muggle mother's derogatory remarks about Lily Potter filled the air.
Some of the wizards present, well aware of Lily Potter's sacrifice and her courageous stand against the Dark Lord, exchanged disapproving glances.
A few wizards, unable to contain their anger, muttered curses under their breath. The realization that a Muggle family would dare to besmirch the name of a revered witch like Lily Potter left many in the Wizengamot fuming with anger.
Harry, still within the enchanted cage, showed a moment of sadness.
The insults to his mother's honor had unleashed a torrent of emotions, but he remained silent, perhaps realizing that retaliation in the courtroom wouldn't serve his cause.
Amelia Bones, who had proposed the memory extraction, observed the reactions in the room. Unlike everyone else, she was struggling with another thought.
"Why, Voldemort, what exactly do you want to achieve by making me show the wizard the memory?" Amelia Bones just could not understand the plan of Voldemort. She was in Voldemort's total control and was forced to follow each of his commands on how to lead the trial.
