Damien stirred on the bed as he finally woke up. He had meant to rest for a few hours, but he had ended up sleeping through the day.
He sat on the bed, his gaze moved around as they settled on Audrey. Her head was on the bed, but she had slept sitting down.
It seemed she had fallen asleep staring at him.
Damien had no idea what to make of her. He got down and carried her carefully on the bed.
She stirred, murmuring some things he couldn't understand. Then he draped the blanket over her as she slept off.
His hand moved slowly over his body, stopping at her hand. They were rough callous on her hands. It were few but he noticed it.
He smiled at her hands. "You're too stubborn."
She moved, muttering some words again, but didn't open her eyes.
Just like him, she must have been exhausted from the long journey.
Damien slipped out of the room. The sun was long gone, and everywhere was dark. The fortress was just as busy as before, but with fewer women walking around.
