You'll begin working tomorrow, and everything you'll need is already packed up in your room. Come see me when you wake up, and I'll show you around your office.
My eyes widened in surprise as I shrieked, "Tomorrow!"
He hummed back, "Mhm, any issue?" After a few seconds, when I finally recovered from my shock, I shook my head.
"Good."
----
I maintained focus as the talk from yesterday ran through my mind as I prepared to enter the company.
I am currently getting ready to leave for the office. We have made the decision to keep his 'fiancé'''''s name a secret from everyone but key individuals.
I searched the area as I descended the steps in search of Jackson. He emerges from the entrance a few seconds later with two umbrellas.
He handed me an umbrella and added, "Ma'am, it's raining hard outside, you might want to take this with you."
I said, removing the umbrella from his grasp, "Thank you. He responded with a nod before guiding me outside.
We soon arrived at the garage after entering through the back door. Jackson escorted me to a pricey vehicle and unlocked the rear seat for her.
He shut the door when I got inside and turned to face the wheel.
As he turned the key, I snorted, "Why are we taking such an expensive car?"
He merely replied, "These are the young Master's orders," which caused me to nod in agreement.
He asked, "Would you like for me to stop by a restaurant for breakfast Ma'am?" I scrunched my face in confusion at how he knew I never had it.
I said, "Sure, let's just stop by McDonald's," and he gave me a startled look.
He hesitated before responding, "Uh ma'am I don't think we could do that, but we have Giovanni's on the way there. We can stop by."
When I heard Giovanni's, my eyes almost popped out. The costliest restaurant in the nation was that one. We couldn't possibly accomplish it.
I protested, "Absolutely not! I just wanted something simple," but he persisted.
I attempted to persuade them by saying, "Look Jackson, I understand that you guys are used to high-priced stuff, but I am very comfortable with having a Milkshake and a breakfast sandwich." But it seemed as if doing something like that was the end of the world in their eyes.
I eventually gave up when I realized it was useless.
----
The waitress came over to us with a notebook and asked, "Welcome to Giovanni's. Do you have a booking?"
Jackson responded with a cool "Private" and pulled out a gold card. Her eyes widened as she realized what it was, and she stood up straight.
She yelled, "Right away! Follow me!" and hurriedly guided us into a private room. She closed the door and bowed out of the room.
A waiter received our orders after a short while.
The waiter questioned, "In a box or will you be eating here, Sir, Ma'am?"
The waiter nodded and walked away as I said, "In a box." Our lunch was delivered to us right when two waiters entered the room.
Jackson grabbed it from them before standing up. We returned to the car and got behind the wheel. While Jackson was driving, I sat in the backseat cleaning off my food.
-----
I looked up when the voice jolted me out of my reverie and said, "Ma'am we are here." Then I unbuckled my seatbelt and packed the rest of my meal in a separate bag.
I gave him a kind grin and said, "Thank you. I can handle the rest." He nodded and got up from his seat before unlocking my car door.
He shut the door and stood back to observe me enter the tall structure.
The structure appeared imposing and exuded a sense of tranquility and darkness simultaneously.
As I moved in the direction of the receptionist, I appreciated the interior view.
The receptionist remarked, chewing gum, "The restaurants are that way. As I stood in front of her, she had a sharp and disgusted expression.
She greeted me and said, "Hello, you must be mistaken, but I am here for Mr. Marco. I have an appointment."
She shouts back at me, "You?! Look waitress, this isn't a playground you can just walk into. Leave before I call security."
I keep my composure while I examine the tag.
I tried to maintain my cool and said, "Look, Anita, I'm here for an appointment. My name is Bella Alverez. Please tell me where to go."
I looked at the woman who didn't even bother to look at the computer and couldn't help but recognize Olivia in her. "I don't care who you are. Mr. Marco wouldn't let people like you in his company. You didn't even have an interview yet, so stop lying."
They all acted in the same manner, which was almost repulsive.
She cried, "Security!" and two guards approached her.
One of them inquired in an irritated manner, "What's the matter?"
She added boastfully while holding her chin high, "She is attempting to come in. I'm telling her that individuals like her are not allowed here.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the situation. When a powerful voice suddenly pierced through all of us, I was about to speak.
We all turned to look at Lorenzo as his deep, gruff voice said, "What's going on here?"
She said in an innocent tone, batting her eyelashes, and pointing at me, "Your right on time Mr. Marco. That women kept claiming that she has an appointment with you here and is working. She is trying to get inside."
The two guards approached me to arrest me after observing Lorenzo's lack of response, but they were halted by his stern look.
He grits out while gazing at her, "Get your hands off her! She is working here and maybe if you looked in your computer you would notice that her name is written.
Her eyes widen a little as she prepares to apologize, but he intervenes before she can finish.
"You are fired!"
Her eyes filled with tears, and just two words were enough to send her into a panic. She appeared as though she was about to kneel down and beg.
He commands coldly, "Escort Ms. Anita off the property and make sure she can't work anywhere in the country," and the guards seize her at once.
He turns back to confront the dumbfounded workers who were gawking at the incident.
I shiver at his voice as he says, "Take Ms. Anita as a lesson. You dare try to slack off on your job and you will end up a nobody in the streets."
As they kept their heads lowered and carried on with their task, I could see that the employees were equally afraid.
He said those last things before leaving and going to the private elevator.
I remained motionless there until I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. When I turned back, I saw a woman approaching with a smile who appeared to be a little older than I was.
Hey, I'm Ava, and the boss told me to take you to his office, she said, holding out her hands.
I returned their greeting, "Bella," and took them.
She inquired, "Shall we go?" I nodded in agreement. We started discussing the business and how things operate here as we made our way to the elevator.
As we get on the elevator, I ask Ava, "So which department do you work in?" My eyes briefly widen as she clicks the fifty-fifth floor before returning to normal.
Her response was, "The security analysis section, basically, our duty is to make sure all the assets and so forth are safeguarded.
I answered in a hushed voice, "Oh good! I'm really working in that area too. I'll definitely run into you there too.
The elevator sounds and door opened as she was ready to continue.
I mumbled under my breath, "That was fast", and she laughed as a result.
I nodded in agreement as she said, "Yeah, it's a private one. Anyhow, I'm not allowed any farther, but you could just walk down the hallway and you see the last door. Just knock before you enter."
We said our goodbyes and I started to walk.
I suddenly noticed that my palms were starting to perspire as I got closer to the door. I wasn't sure if it was a result of anxiety or dread, but either way, it wasn't helping.
I spent a full minute standing directly in front of the door, assuring myself that everything would be well. The door slowly opens, and I remain silent as I did throughout my previous conversation.
I turn my head to the side and notice a figure standing in front of me.
He smirked and asked, "You know it's inappropriate to stand in front of your bosses door like that right?" as soon as I turned to face him.
I tried to speak, but nothing came out. Instead, I just shut my mouth and forced the lump in my throat back down.
He led me inside and said, "Come in." He quickly shut the door after me as I frantically did it.
His frigid face once more took control as he leaned against the door.
A desk was within arms reach, so he reached over and pulled out some documents.
Be clear that even if your chief is the one accountable, ultimately I make the final decision, so don't try me fiancé, he said with a gleam of malice in his eye. "Here is everything you need to know. The chief for your department will explain to you more in detail.
I gave a solid head nod.
He commends her by saying, "Good girl."
After covering the fundamentals, he stands up and moves to open the door.
He replied, holding open the door so I could go, "Keep that file safe. Now that I don't have time, let me show you to a particular room you will need to visit frequently."
To the fifty-third story we ascend.
He said as he left, "Normally, all the important files for each department are here."
He says as we turn right and enter the first room, "Each has a separate room." I can't help but glance around in utter astonishment as soon as he opens the door and we enter.
I nodded as he continued, "Your chief will explain further, but this is where all the files are put alphabetically and based on their status."
He squinted his eyes at me and said, "Okay, now that you know that, here are the keys. Don't lose them because I don't give you another."
I snatched the set of keys out of his grasp and put them right into my bag.
I followed Lorenzo out of the room as he left. He hastily locked the door and turned out the lights.
He said as we stepped into the elevator, "Now to the department."
