Kira PoV
I woke up to Sir Eizan sleeping by my side. The bed was pungent with the smell of frost. My body was stiff and sore. I was still recovering from the delivery.
The memories of the night before were hazy, but I remembered the pain, the fear, and the cold. I also remembered the warmth of my husband's love and faith. He had saved me from losing control of my power. Again.
I smiled and stroked his cheek. He was so handsome. He had some scars on his arms. Had he gotten hurt while holding me? I felt a pang of guilt. What if I had killed him like I did Mother?
He opened his eyes and looked at me. "Kira? You're awake?"
I nodded. "Yes. How long was I asleep?"
He rubbed his head. "Not sure. I fell asleep not long after you did. So I don't know how the cubs are doing. And I haven't seen our new one yet."
I felt a surge of panic. "What? You should go see them. They must be worried about us."
