Chapter 565 - Chapter 565: Oyama-Son

"Yeaaah, no." Axel tried to charge ahead, using his own gifts in an effort to pin down the newly formed Smoke. One swipe with Midas, and he could see the cane phase through, parting slightly enough to avoid the contact, before grabbing at his neck. Even as he was choked, Axel would make quick work of understanding his new abilities: To freely manipulate his gaseous form, to have his hands and feet heat up and tick down on the sundial with such excess energy. No longer was he merely tar, now he was a living coal mine capable of cooking anyone and anything that tries to reach him.

SHIKK!!

A Drastic move, as he'd skewer himself with his own cane. Axel coughed up some blood, letting it be tainted with the gold, watching even his limbs part through the spit to avoid being infected. Alas, he was forced to let go of the Gambler, letting him drop and have the Gold fused into his skin, just to ensure he wouldn't be grabbed again. "Enenra, right? Ain't that the smoke Yokai thing? Why that name?" He'd ask.

Enenra simply cracked his wrists as he'd watch Famine be by his side, letting the smog flow around and swirl across the blade. "Tsukiya was the first to show me this new path. She was the one who's just as cursed as me. I'll gladly take her spirit's name as my own if she's willing to keep protecting me this much." His answer was as calm as it was violent, the Calamity still audible with every word he spoke.

"Ohhhh, it's a crush thing! Could've said that earlier in your little speech." Tsukiya would blush a bit at Axel's brazen comment, yet Enenra doesn't bother to answer further, letting the heat build up and try to slash into the ground, boiling the earth back to magma and try to coat him in it. The Gambler was quick on rolling his dice, two sets present, black and white.

4, 5, 6, 2.

6, 5, 3, 2.

KA-BOOOOOM!!!!

The latter pushed him far away from the duo, the first two numbers acting as his acceleration, the latter two as his direction. He watched as Famine gave chase, attempting to use the smog to heat up the blade and its carbon on one of its edges. Timing himself, he'd allow the bullet that once coursed through take hold, the draconic scales quickly growing out, grabbing ahold of Midas and coming down in one fell swoop to the Harbinger. At the same time, it would ready its own blade, letting the smog pick up and shred the shrapnel of carbon, quickly using the air to cut through and hit Axel earlier before it meets their own demise. Both were eerily similar in their timing, yet the Gambler's speed...

SHIKK!!!! SHIKK!!!!

Was faster.

One cut, and the Gold quickly enveloped across the rider's body, dropping its blade in the process. Furthermore, one slash was enough to begin such corrosion against the Gold, a counter against each other's magic. As the gold began to be broken down, Axel was quick on lodging off pieces of himself, letting it fall to the ground, as he'd be quick to regenerate what was lost by multiplying the cells that were once such a beautiful metal. The beast looked on in dismay as Midas corrupted the two, one more desperate slash to utilize such efforts by Enenra, yet such efforts dashed in the face of the Gambler, as a few more dice was sent out.

6, 2, 2, 2.

Parting such winds as effortless as a midsummer breeze, the bombs made were the equivalent of firecrackers, barely reaching his hair as the smoke vanished. As he moved away from Famine, however, Axel failed to notice the cave was beginning to collapse on itself, the attack sent out made to strike at the cavern's walls with no restraint. "Cheeky bastard, you are. Setting us up for a burial. While I would entertain that idea, I'm pretty sure death by cave-in's a pretty boring way to go."

SHIKK!!!

Stabbed behind his back, as Enenra took advantage of the opening Famine left behind. He'd cough up blood and watch as the others were retreating, seeing Taro breaking the bind between Alice and Khonum to escort them out just as much. He was almost impressed he was caught off guard by such a hit, but would smile as he watched the golden ichor for blood spill out and take hold of such a fog. Unfortunately, the living Smoke was able to part with his hands as effortless as the Gambler did towards Famine, as it began to showcase a quick rise in temperature once more, a boiling heat resting underneath his heart. "How about a Cookout then? That enough of an entertaining demise?" He'd ask, as he'd feel the ground shaking and the rubble crashing down, his body phasing through the rocks.

Axel merely laughed, even as blood came out in such spurts from the wound on his back. "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Let's see if I survive this one...!" He'd state, before ultimately being crushed under. Calibren itself would also come down, now that the open spot buried itself alive. Whatever was left of the Kingdom has now been left in ruins, the towers and halls of such a pristine land toppled and buried down into what was once Oyama-don's home. Splatters of Gold were visible, as are the bits of smoke and fog to ensure as a watcher for the potential death. Enenra would get one more voice out before he was met with the sun's light, one more voice to embrace before finally being given back his own soul.

"Even with this change, the result stays the same. Calibren is no more, and you yourself said that you 'died' against Xibal. You merely did this form just to insult me and my chances of passing on. I ask of you... why? Why do this insult? What purpose do you hold, now that you're no longer a part of me?"

It didn't took much thought for Enenra to answer his question. "If what you say is true that the Prophecy leads to the destruction of everything alive... then I shall reforge it. Make it so that even in death, something awaits beyond it. You may have won this invasion... but our fate is not set in stone. We will live on."
