Thump...
Thump...
Thump...
From afar, at the opposite side of Calibren, Sozo can feel it. His eyes widened as he clutched his chest, a heat he'd never imagine to feel after being immortalized for so long. He glanced down to see the warm glow, whatever remained of organs and veins, once floating aimlessly, now caught alight and given form. At first, a small smile creeped up to him, as he'd close his eyes and embraced it, a chance to be free once and for all. He could feel the temperature rising, embers quickly catching on, sparks that flowed alongside the miasma. At first, his mind was properly at peace. A chance to end. A chance to no longer be cursed with this pain he's forced to carry on. "Finally... I can properly rest. Thank you... Envy..." he'd think to himself.
In those minutes of what he thought were his last remains of life, however, they grow disobedient. Wayward, as they do not ignite him fully, only surround him. He opened his eyes and got confused. This was one of the only ways he can think of to truly die. Every instance he's met so far has failed, but with an ink-like body, he should be flammable and ignite at the slightest singe. That was when he noticed his heart was changing. Nay, his organs were. His eyes widened in horror as he realized he wasn't meant to die, but rather to be blessed with them. Something was contorting it, a pain felt between both himself and his dupe. He'd collapse on the ground, a mess of black, as he clutched his heart, desperate to stop its metamorphosis by crushing it in his grip. The flames, however, rebuked him. His eyes were going frantic as he bashes his vitals across the area. Sharp, blunt, circular with pointed edges. Anything to cut and rip that heart out in an effort to retain his 'weakness.' Alas, they all melted before the heat, crumbled away or disintegrated, as he realized he was evolving alongside with Envy. To say he was horrified was an understatement, and why shouldn't he? If he lost this 'weakness', then he'd be forced to walk among the living even more so than now. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEENVYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!" He'd roar, a keening struggle, as he'd suffer the same pain.
At the same time, Envy would collapse in his own pile, the vitals visible for everyone to see. He could hear his voice, knowing his anger has not been left unheard. He smiled as he realized he foiled something in Sozo's reach. "Heh... He's screaming at me. He's angry at me... Serves him right for trying to bring the end so soon..." He'd taunt, as the veins began to scorch through the liquid, swallowing around him, cooking him alive. Even with such screams and anguish, he'd keep his smile on, as he'd hear his father's voice again.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!? WHAT DID YOU DO TO US!? WHAT IS THIS??! WHAT HAVE YOU-"
"I did nothing. Harvard was the one who pulled the trigger."
"THE BRAT WITH THE CODEX!?!? HE SHOT YOU WITH THE MONSTER?! WHY??!"
"He must've felt it. How it breathes, how it aches. He wants to live a proper life after being stuck in a dark cave for so long. I wonder who'd be willing to take up that next life without dispelling the beast, hmm?"
Sozo's voice dropped from rage to fear. He couldn't believe the child would do something this severe. "You understand what this means then, right? We. Can't. DIE! All my life I threw myself at every potential chance for death. Even taking upon our people's Death Sentences, just to get a chance of freedom! Fire was our potentially last resort. A weakness where we hoped it'd come once we rid this world! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT HE'S DONE!?" His panic was visceral, and yet in this cocoon of hellfire, Envy was the only one willing to stand up and face the pain head on.
"Yeah... and I don't care. You may not have something worth living for... but I do. We have a purpose. Even if its small, even if its insignificant, it's a purpose nonetheless. You want to end the world? Go on ahead, that's your purpose. Mines is to prevent that."
"ENVYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! RETHINK THIS, PLEASE! WE DON'T WANT TO BE IMMORTAL FOR THIS LONG-"
"Envy has already 'died', King of Nihil. The sin that you forced me to bare... the sin I was forged from by your wish to be free of such emotion... It's long since gone." Swiftly after he gave his decree, the sigil would make quick work of the connection, severing the contact between both, burning away so that he's finally his own person. As the flames dispersed, Xibal's body is imprinted onto him, a new form taken by the living Calamity. What was once lava-like wings and the Sundial became a cloak and hood. What was once tar now solidified into onyx. His hands and feet were hot red and orange, smoke still visible from his fingertips. The markings of the Sundial itself became imprinted into his chest and stomach as Tattoos, covering as much as possible, while the ones that remained forged into new ones on his legs. A Tale of two brothers escaping from the Underworld, reaching for the sundial as if it was their door to the human world. The most gripping thing, however, was his new face.
It was a mix between his monstrous face and Xibal, forged as a mask that covers his lower mouth, an oni's mouth. His eyes carry a fire behind them, as if he was a living lantern for the beasts that hid away. "If life has a proper purpose... even if we are gone... then we should hunt FOR that very purpose. I am not letting my body be a puppet anymore. I already went this far gone against this 'Prophecy', and I'm not gonna be dragged in it any further."
"Envy. Greed. Sloth. Lechery. I abolish them all... I... AM ITS ENENRA!!!"
His shout echoed back towards Sozo on the other side, as his own body was forged from the fusion. His own organs melted away, his body no longer holding that 'weakness' to cling him into reality. Two more sets of eyes were forged as he feels himself immune to the heat. His back splayed out beautiful, black wings out of his liquid form. A black angel, tainted by the sin he's forced to bear. "I should be angry... I should be furious, even. I'm afraid, Envy. I'm scared."
"If we ever meet again... you, too, shall know this fear."
