A young lady cried out, "Help me," and appeared terrified as soon as the automobile stopped. Jaydon gave her an unflattering glare and said, "Move," scornfully. However, she stood still, as if her life relied on his help, and pleaded for help. He glared at her indignantly and, in a cold voice, threatened, "If you don't move, I'll run you over." But the young lady answered as if she didn't care, "Then run me over."
He decided to fire up the engine, but I intervened and said, "Uh, we can't run her over." Jaydon said he didn't care if she moved, saying, "Watch me." Suddenly, a young child jumped out and yelled, "No!" Jaydon let off the throttle and turned to face the child as he looked out the window. He then sighed and motioned for the young lady to enter the car. Once inside, she murmured, "Thank you."
I turned around and asked them whether they had been bitten or wounded. Both answered, "No." I grinned and replied, "Okay."
We decided to pull over and wait as it was getting dark, and we didn't want to attract unwanted attention from the infected. "I forgot to ask, what's your name?" I asked the woman holding the sleeping child.
"He is Jaydon, and I am Sara," I replied.
"I'm Stacy, and this little one is Megan," she said, looking at me bewildered. "She's my daughter," she added with a bitter and sad grin.
We all went to sleep except Jaydon before any of us realized it. The morning rose, and just as I opened my eyes and looked out the window, an infected woman bounced on the car and woke up those two in the back seat. We all were shocked by how she looked. She was dragging her foot like It was broken, and you could see blood all over her body as well as in her mouth. She was pale looking, her skin looked like it was decaying or rotting off, and she was making a grunting and hissing sound as well. Her face was full of wounds all over her, her pupils white had a dark circle around her eyes, and she looked so terrifying; Sara still didn't grasp how they may appear to have been dead for three or more years,
"You should be aware that this is not new. T-town was placed on lockdown two months ago due to a virus," Stacy claimed. Then it came here, and whatever it was looks like it evolved and turned into that, "she stated, staring outside. "Before you knew it, other cities were also affected."
Jaydon began the car and stated, "Let's go." It had been an hour or so since we woke up and had been on the road. We were all hungry. I advise stopping at the gestation that we saw up ahead.
We look around when we stop at the gestation to see whether any infected are present. None were visible to us. We instructed Megan to stay in the car and honk if anyone approached, whether a person or a zombie; Jaydon, Stacy, and Sara stepped outdoors, and she gave an agreeable nod.
A large sign displays the gas price at the gas station, which is dirty and littered with trash. You can find a lot of trash cans, crinkled straws, crumpled receipts and napkins, gum wrappers, and cigarette butts scattered on the ground. The gas station also has self-service window cleaning machines with squeegees and paper towel dispensers available for purchase by the door. You can see a motor oil display and signs advertising food and drinks. There is also an ice maker that is unlocked. Wooden sacks and yellow curb lines have been painted around the pump stations for safety. The building also has security cameras, which lead inside or to the roof. Lastly, there is an abandoned pay phone.
While we headed inside, the area was disorganized, and it was clear that someone was in a rush to leave. There is hardly much to see because half of the items were on the floor. It smelt like rotten eggs and fish combined in the air. There was another odor present that I was unable to identify. The cash register was open, but there was no money inside, and I could hear a ticking sound as I turned to look around. Jaydon instructed us to get the items we needed quickly. He wanted to avoid lingering here for a very long time.
We heard Stacy's scream and her honking while we were gathering everything we required. We all rushed outside to look, and what we discovered shocked us all.
