Chapter 895 - Chapter 894: Neither Science nor Magic

In the Quiz Game's intro video, both Spider-Man and Iron Man were shown to have exceptional mobility.

By comparison, Black Widow and Captain America seemed a little less agile and a bit weaker when it came to escape capabilities.

The four intro clips were short—just a quick rundown of their abilities—and then the countdown to answer began.

This time, the players were a lot more eager to buzz in. The moment the countdown started, hands slammed down on the answer buttons. In the end, Tony was the one who got in first, and he went straight for option B.

As it turned out, all four of the other players had chosen the exact same answer.

When the countdown ended, the correct answer was revealed:

[Congratulations, player Tony Stark, for buzzing in first and earning 4 points. Congratulations to player Natasha Romanoff… all answers correct. Each receives 1 point]

Tony let out a long breath of relief.

"Lucky break—finally out of the danger zone!"

Before this question, his score had been sitting at -4 points. One more wrong answer and he would've faced the electric shock penalty.

Erik and Homelander weren't doing much better—especially the latter, who had now sunk to -7 points. In that state, buzzing in at all was already a bold move.

Erik gave him a quiet reminder:

"With that many negative points, the first-tier penalty is just electric shock—you won't die. But the second and third tiers? That's another story. You might want to be more careful when you answer."

Homelander just grinned and didn't bother replying.

Erik wasn't wrong—but it wasn't exactly a heartfelt warning either.

This round's competitive mode was far more ruthless, with a much higher elimination rate—there could only be one winner.

In other words, everyone here was an enemy. There were no teams.

And even if there were, Erik might've played the villain before, but he still looked down on Homelander. He had no reason to help him—either emotionally or logically.

Homelander understood that perfectly well. But with so many negative points, the only way to turn things around was to take risks. If he played it safe, he'd have no chance at all.

When the question was over, the correct answer's future clip began to play.

The players, each lost in their own thoughts, turned their attention back to the big screen. Everyone was curious—what exactly did an apocalypse look like when even superheroes were infected with the zombie virus?

In the footage, a beam of rainbow-colored light shot from space toward Earth.

Anyone familiar would recognize it instantly: the Bifrost, Asgard's rainbow bridge.

But the figure traveling within wasn't Thor—it was the Hulk. He landed at the New York Sanctum and immediately reverted to Bruce Banner, looking panicked and muttering under his breath.

"Thanos is coming… he's almost here!"

"I remember this!" Tony rubbed his chin, frowning. "Thanos attacked Asgard's refugee ship. He killed Loki with his own hands."

"Hulk got beaten so badly he wouldn't even show his face. Heimdall, on his last breath, used the Bifrost to send Banner to Earth as a warning."

Natasha guessed aloud, "Could the zombie virus be something Thanos created?"

"No idea."

The video continued. Banner noticed the Sanctum was empty—no one around—except for a cloak hanging on a rack, as if it were silently watching him.

He grabbed a spare Kamar-Taj apprentice robe to wear and stepped outside, finding the streets equally deserted.

Before he could make sense of it, another beam of light appeared. Out stepped Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian.

This scene had already appeared in an earlier Thanos-related clip.

In the normal timeline, they were part of Thanos's vanguard, wreaking havoc on the Avengers, injuring and eventually capturing Doctor Strange.

But here, Banner faced them alone.

He kept calling for the Hulk, but Hulk, still traumatized from Thanos's beating, refused to come out. No matter how Banner yelled, the transformation never happened.

Ebony Maw, oozing menace, began,

"Rejoice… you are about to fall at the hands of Thanos's children—"

He didn't even finish the sentence before a small magic portal appeared behind his head.

A mechanical arm shot through, fired a laser blast straight into his skull, and dropped him to the ground.

The portal widened, and three figures stepped through. Though their faces were in shadow, their builds and walks made them easy to identify—Iron Man in the lead, followed by Doctor Strange and Wong.

Off-screen, Tony frowned in confusion.

"Wait… so I didn't turn into a zombie? But I remember—at least in my world's timeline—it took a lot more effort for me and Stephen to handle those two goons."

Natasha, brow furrowed, added, "Something's off. Stephen's not wearing the Cloak of Levitation."

Tony shrugged.

"Come on—zombies can't still cast spells, right? That'd be… well… disrespectful to magic."

He almost said "unscientific," since even in the animated version of himself, the Iron Man armor's weapons were still in use.

Normally, zombies are brainless—driven only to bite and attack the living—often slow and clumsy.

But judging from the footage, both Iron Man and Doctor Strange knew how to use their weapons and spells… and even set up an ambush. They didn't look like typical zombie victims at all.

Banner didn't notice the danger.

Relieved, he cheered,

"Tony? Ha! You guys are done for now!"

Then Iron Man soared into the sky, dropping bombs from above while Strange and Wong's portals flashed all around, launching attacks from every angle.

In the chaos, smoke and dust filled the streets. But soon, the fight took a disturbing turn.

From within the haze came guttural roars… and the unmistakable sound of chewing.

Banner's smile froze.

"Wait… this is a bit much, isn't it?"

The battle ended quickly.

When the smoke cleared, Iron Man climbed to his feet and turned toward Banner—helmet off, revealing a pale, withered, and grotesquely twisted face.

Doctor Strange and Wong beside him were wearing the exact same zombie look.

Banner stood frozen in shock.

Off-screen, Tony's eyes widened.

"Hold up—so I turn into a zombie and still fight with the Iron Man suit? My god, that's not scientific at all!"

Natasha rolled her eyes and muttered,

"Not just unscientific—it's not magical either. Zombie Stephen can still open portals."
