Well he thought deeper into this and remember what his biology lab professor said every " Every species is unique, some share commonalities such as having the ability to produce music or even to manage to run away and camouflage themselves but no matter what' Niles tried to remember more of what he said thinking this may be the solution to future problems.
After all, it was one of Niles favourite classes as the professor never turned down Niles inquisitive nature and even inspired him that in nature nothing is impossible .
Niles continued to remember what his professor said " as everything can be broken down and combined as many unique animals are really just recombinants of different features of different species usually breaking off in its own group or an ancestor or was birthed with a trait that allowed them to survive till their last species"

The professor even gave examples. One such example was the mention of how a group of scientists noticed how silk made from a spider was amazing, that if woven and processed could become highly durable and even bullet resistant clothing.
I even questioned him " How is that even possible and even if so spider can only produce so much silk unless you harvest millions its impossible to even make any processed materials because of difficulties in harvesting it"
This is where he mentioned that they that scientist introduced one of the strongest spider silk spider the orb weaver spider to a goat which confused me then he explained future that through genetic enhancements they introduced the the silk gene of the orb weaver spider and implanted it into the goat at an embryonic state to combine with the goats dna which produces milk to produce a protein from its mammary gland.
The embryo was then implanted into a female goat which then bore the future spider silk goats but he then explained carefully " Even though it was a great success the problem was that it was done 7 times in which only 3 of them successfully gained the gene but there was no health complication as only when they produced milk would the gene activate "
I was bemused and eyes glittered he then continued " there was no health complications either it was a great success but due to not all of them taking on the gene it was considered more of a failure you could even imagine if it was any other gene sequence they may have had serious complications and dies this was by far the best genetic modification event ever two species with no shared genes were now one in a sense"
I was amazed back then because it was a new realm of possibilities. He then countered by saying if we solved a way to transfer genes to bind to genetic chains we could become more than what we are.

Niles thinking of this knew that mastering this ability could be what gives me the edge, no the me and my people the edge in having the ability to defend our territory, not only that with the rise of individual strength it could even allow us to to fear even going into battle but to tie it all together is to find a method to defeat magic as well even if they were stronger if magic like those from the anime's I used to watch happen it's just a longer struggle to the death.
While contemplating this Niles had realized that even if I figured it out for long term survival I would need to see the after effects not only on my people but on other fauna as well.
Niles was thinking of a faster way to guarantee better safety in his people to avoid them dying from the modification as if not, It would cause severe things to happen especially since I would need a blood sample from someone considered normal in this world for a comparison value to see what went wrong understand truly how their body processes mana vs the animals.
Niles then asked Nuera on her opinion on said though which she replied( It is an ingenious way of how you humans think taking strong genes from other animals and putting them in a single recipient is perfect but as mentioned if it was on your world it would take years especially with each countries espionage, wars and inciting conflicts of internal views among the populace which delay technological innovation to be top priority)
( But suggestion first is to test such a theory on an animal first before anyone as you would have to gather genetic samples as well as hope for the best that the environment here does not cause harm to said creature after being modified after all this world has more magical elements that could cause even more unexpected results than earth)
Nile then said " I know maybe I can slip out for a bit to scout some fauna blood samples but were still in the construction phase of building an expanse of houses, especially the layout needs to be followed precisely and each house spaced to create pathways for roads as well as the side walks everything must be perfect,or else future development will take even longer."
Niles really is worrying after all he needed people to advance as well as them to live and be content to gain continuous faith but also to prepare because Niles knew it in his gut that sooner or later someone outside of their small enclave of people will find and if they aren't friendly.
Niles gulps while waiting for a response from Nuera I hear a next loud thud rushing over seeing a tall tree hitting one section of the outer wall which was cut down by what it seems to be a tree feller hoping everyone is okay I could see the person in the vehicle scratching his head shouting sorry while others in the group help repair the mess.
From the info gathered the worker accidentally swung the arm of the machine in the wrong direction due to his shirt catching on the controls which then I rub my forehead saying to Nuera
"See if I'm not here next thing we know we'll be holding a funeral on the tombstone death by felled tree this is why I have to supervise them and be their just in cass"

Niles then went to reprimand them on being careful but not before telling Nuera to log down his thoughts as he would need them to start soon when the renovation project is about 75% done to feel more comforting to further.
