Once Mervyn approved the plan, Alfie wasted no time putting it into action.
He waited until the halls were quiet before slipping toward Greg's office, careful to make sure no one was watching.
But the moment he stepped inside—
"Mmmfh!"
A hand clamped over his mouth.
Alfie barely had time to react before he was shoved against the wall.
The door slammed shut behind him.
His eyes widened when he realized who had ambushed him.
Greg shoved Alfie onto the floor and immediately grabbed him by the collar, yanking him closer.
"You…" Greg growled, his voice low and furious. "I knew something was strange when you suddenly asked me to check Young Master Morgan's shoes."
Alfie's face paled.
"So that's it." Greg tightened his grip. "You betrayed me just so you could steal Madam Beckett's travel log!"
Alfie shuddered. "H-how… how did you know?!"
"Goddamnit, Alfie…"
Greg released his grip and stepped back, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.
