The Man:
Clapping my hands, all the water jumps off my body. I dry myself instantly while all the water that hovers in the air gathers together. It forms into a large stream that flows back through the hatch and into the water.
"What the heck was that?" Oliver asks.
"Waterbending," I reply, pushing a button to close the hatch. The pilot seat slides back out with the cushion folding out. Sitting down, I grab the two joysticks and begin moving the Seahorse's mechanical arms.
"Sorry for yelling at you like that," I say while digging some dirt up, "But the orichalcum containers are thousands of years old. You need to be careful when digging them up. Otherwise, you risk damaging them."
"Are you saying I'm not careful?"
"No, I'm saying I want to drive. It's my submarine after all."
Carefully moving the arms, I dig until I see something buried in the dirt. A screen in the Seahorse flashes green and zooms in on the object. Despite being brown and covered in rust, I still know what it is.
"There it is," I say, carefully removing the surrounding dirt. In only a few minutes, I remove all the dirt and reveal the sealed iron container.
"Careful," Oliver says, grabbing my seat's headrest and pulling himself up. "Careful. Carefully. Care--"
"Queenie," I say, turning around. "Please. I like my personal space, and I can smell the hot dogs on your breath."
"Those were your hot dogs," Oliver replies. "You cooked them for us for a quick lunch."
"All of a sudden, I regret cooking fried onions."
As I carefully and slowly scoop up some extra dirt, throwing the lumps aside, I prepare to grab the iron container itself. However, as the metal claws grab it, the screen switches from green to red, and an alarm screams in our ears.
"Was that you?" Oliver yells.
"I am 87.6 percent sure that was not me."
Looking down at the screen, I see a red dot quickly approaching us. Oliver peeks from behind and must have seen the red dot.
"Is that Spectre?"
"No," I answer. "I'm sensing supernatural energy, but it's not Spectre. It's similar, but a much lower power level."
"What?"
"Brace for impact," I yell.
Oliver pushes against my seat and throws himself into his seat. As I hear his seatbelt clicking, something hits the Seahorse again. Even with the shield, it still causes the sub to shake, throwing Oliver and me around.
"I think I'm about to throw up!"
About to hit the container and risk breaking it, I pull a lever and stomp on a pedal. The Seahorse quickly backs away from the orichalcum. Once far enough away, I reset the sub's shield before it can fall to zero percent. On one of the screens, the shield shoots from 15 percent to 76. With the shield stable again, I pull another lever, spinning the Seahorse, and push a button.
"I see you," I yell, firing a rocket. It flies through the ocean, my rocket hits and explodes.
"Ahhhh!"
Hearing a scream amid the explosion, I see a floating white top hat with a monocle above a fancy suit and a cloak among the bubbles.
"Did you see that?"
I ask and turn around, but instead of seeing Oliver looking ahead, I see him bend over with his hand over his mouth.
"Oliver, you may be one of the only two people in the Insurgency I like, but that doesn't mean I won't make you clean up the Seahorse if you throw up. Do not throw up!"
His head shooting back up, Oliver wipes his mouth and looks ahead.
"What? Did I see what?"
I nudge my head forward, pointing at the floating pieces of 19th-century gentleman's clothes.
"No way," Oliver says, leaning forward. "Is that--"
"Gentleman Jim," I finish, "Or as he is known nowadays, Gentleman Ghost."
Landing on his feet after being thrown around by my rocket, Gentlemen Ghost looks right at Oliver and me. Adjusting his top hat and monocle, Gentlemen Ghost swings his hand and pulls from his cloak a long, white cane with a skull on the end.
"You! The man in the spectacles!"
"I think he's talking to you," Oliver whispers.
"Probably. Does Gentleman Ghost even know your name?"
"Prepare to meet your end!"
Raising his cane and then pointing it outward, the skull facing us, it opens its mouth and shoots out a purple fire. As the flame gets closer, the light brightens the dark ocean and is about to hit the Seahorse, I activate one of the Seahorse's defense features.
A pair of turbines shoots out from beneath the Seahorse and starts spinning. Unleashing a massive torrential, I cancel out the purple fire. Gentlemen Ghost screams as two underwater tornadoes hit him, throwing him into a mountain. Flipping a switch and turning off the turbines, I hear a beeping and look down. Another dot appears on the screen, but this time, instead of red, the dot is green.
"Finally," I say.
Looking out the window, I see a portal appear nearby. Jumping through and landing on the other side, he looks up and sees me inside the Seahorse.
"Finally," I repeat through the outer speakers. "Where have you been this whole time?"
He moves his hands and arms and begins using sign language.
"Sorry about being late," he signs, "But I'm not Barry. I don't have super speed, and Themyscira is a big island."
"You don't have super speed, but you do have invisibility," I yell back. "You can literally walk around without anyone seeing you!"
"Uhh," Oliver says, tapping my shoulder. "Who are you talking to?"
"Never mind that, Robin Hood. Listen, you! Long story short. You need to fight and distract Gentleman Ghost while Oliver and I dig up that container. Can you do it?"
He nods and turns to where Gentleman Ghost is. While he fights Jim Craddock, I steer the Seahorse back to collect the container.
The Invisible Man:
Running through the water, clutching the gemstone in my hand, my feet skid against the sea floor, kicking dirt into the air.
Gentleman Ghost rubs his top hat after peeling himself off the mountain. Dropping to the floor, he adjusts his monocle and looks at me.
"Hmm, another ghost I see. And who, might I ask, are you?"
Remembering that Gentleman Ghost is a ghost himself, I speak instead of signing. Instead, with my hands, I punch my palm.
"You can call me Deadman," I answer, "And I'm here to kick your ghostly butt!"
Lunging forward, Gentleman Ghost raises his ghostly cane and fires a purple flame. Running toward it, I throw the gemstone into the water. My body goes intangible. I sink beneath the sea floor and dodge the burning flame.
Climbing back up, I uppercut Gentleman Ghost, knocking him off his feet. As Gentleman Ghost flips through the water, about to hit the mountain again, he instead phases through it. As I catch the gemstone, I hear Gentleman Ghost's voice and turn around.
"Well, then," Gentleman Ghost says, stepping through the mountain. Adjusting his top hat and eyepieces, Gentleman Ghost raises his cane, more purple flame appearing in the skull's eyes and mouth. "I guess, since we are both ghosts and have the power of intangibility, this is what you would call a fair fight. A gentleman duel, if you will."
Gentleman Ghost grabs the skull and unsheathes a sword.
"Let's change that, should we?"
