Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Chop Chop!

"Ha... ha... ha..."

'6 hours.... 6 damn hours of running through all of the hunting grounds. We didn't even fight any of the Hobgoblins in the meanwhile; I just kept jogging while he killed them! We just ran, ran, and ran. We ran for 6 hours, and who knows however many kilometres we covered...

No break. Just running. And my stamina bar has been blinking for the past hour as well! Finally, he tells me that we're taking a break...'

"And now he feels like tellin' me we're not fuckin' done yet?" All of Moonshine's frustration from the past hours boiled over into those words. Wanting to scream them but unable to--- fearing that she would pass out--- she fell complacent with whispering them harshly.

"The hell do we even have left to do?" She continued. "I don't even have the energy to keep moving... I mean, my Stamina bar is still blinking for God's sake!"

Unable to really voice her inner thoughts, she kept on mumbling and murmuring. "Honestly..."

Staring at the horizon, she kept complaining. But on the inside, delight was already starting to bubble.

Her Strength stat had already increased by 2. And, it was only the first session. She would be doing this 2 months, but she could already see how drastically this tempering would change her.

Now the only problem was if she could keep this up.

'Hmm... they say that if you follow the same routine for three weeks, it becomes a habit...

Let's hope this won't apply to the real world as well...'

----------

10 minutes passed by. During all those 10 minutes, the only thing Moon did was pace in a circle and stare at the sky, trying to refill her dried lungs with the revitalizing gas of Oxygen.

Godspeed, on the other hand, was staring at the Training Regiment papers the whole time. His focus was strong, as if he were trying to burn a hole through the parchments.

And then he just crumpled them up threw them into his inventory.

"Alright! I think that's enough time for some rest!" He stated, enthusiasm back into his voice. "Now, let us get to the next session of this program!"

"H-hey... you never said what the next thing we would work on was." Barely in control of her breathing, Moon very weakly reminded God of an important step that he had already forgotten.

"Oh really? Damn, I didn't know! Did I really not tell you?"

"Y-yeah?"

"Oh, well golly ol' darn! It must've slipped my mind. Welp, that doesn't keep us from moving on though!"

"What... the hell..?" The confusion was written all over her face.

'Who the hell even talks like that anymore!?'

"Now then: Let's start."

Ignoring the face of utter stupefaction in front of him, Godspeed presented the next step in the training.

"Inventory."

Ching! Cling!

Clang! Clack!

Ding!

All sorts of metallic sounds ranged as various metal works hit the ground, blowing dust around.

"Huh?"

They were weapons. Broadswords, spears, shields, bows, pole arms, daggers, flamberge; all sorts of weapons were piled on top of each other.

'Oh... I get it.'

"We're doing weapon training, aren't we?" Moon asked, her mood getting slightly better.

"Yep," replied God. "Actually, I'm supposed to help you in horse riding as well, but I haven't found any available renters, yet."

There was also another reason he hadn't gotten a horse yet.

He's poor as fuck.

"Alright. Today, we will be training with the sword, shield, and spear. From my experience, those are the weapons that knights, Black, Red, Blue, Rainbow, whatever... those are the most common weapons wielded by them. We''l also train with the others, such as the daggers and mace, but these will be our main focus.

Bending over and picking up one of the spears, he scratched it against his gauntlet, creating sparks as if he were sharpening it, and stabbed it into the ground.

"Come on now; chop chop!"

Indecisive for only a second, the still winded Moon picked up her most trusted weapon: the broadsword.

"So, you main the sword?" asked God.

"Correct. I only have Sword and Shield Mastery, so it's obvious," replied Moon.

"Oh yeah; you're a Warrior.

Alright then." He pointed to a spot at the trough of the dune. "Stand there." While Moon moved to her spot, God moved to a spot directly across from her.

"Now, attack me."

"What?"

"Attack me."

"Are you sure?"

"You'll die if I attack you."

'Ah.'

Forgetting about her consideration, Moonshine tightened her grip on the broadsword and charged.

Targeting God's chest, she threw a horizontal slash across the man's torso.

He easily sidestepped.

Seeing this, she quickly redirected her horizontal slash into a diagonal one. This one, he stepped backed from.

Annoyed that her attacks are getting her nowhere, Moon performed a close-range charge and cut downward.

That's enough."

Instead of moving, Godspeed countered. Using the spear, he sideswiped the falling blade, completely changing the direction of the sword. He wasn't done yet though.

Carrying the momentum, he converted the sideswipe into a spin, and stomped the ground. At the same time he stomped the ground, he thrusted.

Pchk!

[Critical! You've suffered 1,200 damage!]

[You have lost more than 40% of your health in one blow!]

[You are stunned for 3 seconds!]

Immediately, Godspeed's nametag turned orange, signifying that he had entered combat with Moonshine.
