Looking at the group of guards laughing like morons, Rak's group of six was wondering if these people were actually the towns morticians, only they would think such a joke would be funny.
Looking the group over, the man settled down from his laughing fit and noticed the oddness of their group. A small group of men plus a woman, easy to tell they are fit and trained and not to mention the apparent weaponry they carried on their person. Not to mention the strange masks that covered their face with each one different to each other. It finally dawned on the man this was no mere group of travelers and must be some group of mercenaries coming from the untamed lands. Although he thought he would have heard rumors of a group that stood out like this.
"What's so funny? Do you think demons are a laughing matter?" asked Rak, looking at the guard captain with a questioning look.
"Demons?" repeated the guard captain. "Demons don't exist, if they did don't you think we would have seen them?" he said looking amazed.
A younger man, who was also part of the guard, said "Yea man, although they are in some old fairy tails they do not exist. Nothing but legends to scare kids. Are you saying you actually saw one?"
"Fought and killed." stated Rak, before continuing "After just one of them wiped Troya from the face of the map."
Although the man saying this looked dead serious the guard captain and his squad could not even begin to think that it was true. Who would even believe that a monster from myths, where stories told of them were meant to scare children was true?
Hearing what Rak said, the guard captain could not think these people were in a right state of mind, with a look of suspicion he still invited them into the town, over the draw bridge and through the gate.
As they walked through the gate, the group found the walled-in city extremly noisy. People everywhere chatting with friends or telling other stories they have heard. People at stands trying to attract customers to their stalls yelling out their prices of common goods. The shops on the side of the large street were the only thing made of wood. Houses around them were either made of bricks or looked to be carved out of the brownish red rock all around.
As they stared around them looking at the city with some interest of novelty, as they have seen numerous different cities, the guard captain came up to them and said "Even if i don't believe what you said, i think it would be best for our leader to hear what you said and make a decision. He wants to be notified of any news regarding such demons, fake or not." With that said he promply lead everyone down the main road to a massive stone castle in the cities center, where the top of it could be seen from the other side of the wall.
Colored glass panes hang in almost every window of the castle depicting different events. Some displaying people colonizing the land, building the castle and making a wall. Others about fights with local beasts and even one what looked like some sort of black dragon. The most eye catching of all was in the center piece above the doorway leading into the castle that greatly resembled an all too well known red skinned humanoid with horns, a demon.
Being brought into the front door of the castle everyone took notice that despite the outward appearance being as grand and gaudy as possible the inside of the castle was almost barren. With as few candles lighting the way as possible and no paintings or murals hanging on the walls to liven the free space, bricks were the only decoration for everyone to see.
After coming to a side room, Rak and his squad was told to wait while the guard captain went to find the city leader to make his report. After just a minute or two, fast footsteps could be heard rushing down the hall when the door was flung open. Standing in the now open doorway was a man who looked like a wrestler, full of muscle that rivaled Face and almost a half a foot taller.
Without so much as an introduction the man looked into the room and nearly bellowed in Face's direction "Who is the one that said they slayed a demon? Let me see who would tell such lies."
